LOL you read that list?
Really shitty tracks aren't they?

If you think it was a bad year give an explanation why it was bad for you...

Im curious.

Tranceseeker: With a few exceptions, that's a list of mediocre songs imo. None of them are classics in my book. I'd agree that 2001 was a bad year compared to 99-00, and 02.

Agree with you on this. The list reeks of mediocrity in my opinion. But there are classics there, Flight 643, Souvenir de Chine, Exhale, Missed Beat, Music non Stop are all tunes I still sneak in sets now and again, classics in my opinion.

But Voodoo, come on you don't seriously think this was even a mediocre tune???

Posted by starglider on Aug-15-2002 20:03:

I would hardly call most of that list "mediocre". Let's not get blinded by nostalgia now... many of those deserve to be called classics, or at least modern classics. I'd put at least the following under that category:

Members Of Mayday - 10 In 01
Meridian - Starving Dolphins
Tenth Planet - Ghosts
Kay Cee - Unsolved Mysteries
Body-Shock - Ghosts In The Church
M.I.K.E. - Sunrise At Palamos
Dumonde - Never Look Back
Airwave - Save Me
Jan Johnston - Flesh
Planisphere - Moonshine
Mekka - Diamondback
Delerium - Innocente
System F - Exhale
DJ Tisto - Flight 643
Solid Sessions - Janeiro
Ralphie B - Massive
Drax & Scott - Sublime
Capetown - Stringrizer
Joker Jam - Innocence
Mirco De Govia - Epic Monolith
Private Taste - First
Solicitous - Furthermost
Meridian - 6.3
Fire & Ice - Souvenir De Chine
M.U.T.E. - Missed Beat
Push - The Legacy
Body-Shock - Rain In The City
Iio - Rapture
Yves Deruyter - Music Non Stop
Accadia - Into The Dawn

Not a bad list.

I think 2000 is a bad year for trance, with DJ Jean, Alice Dejjay, aTB, Rollergirl and that shit. 2001 en 2002 are good (thus far), just as TS told.

I guess you must have some really weird taste is music then cause with tunes like Exhale, Flesh, Flight 643, Save Me, Urban Train, Souvenir De Chine, Never Look Back, Furthermost and Epic Monolith...ummm, those songs are classics. Like SG said...don't get blinded by nostalgia....and so far 2002 has yet to impress me trance-wise. With a very few exceptions (and no, Ligaya ain't one of those exceptions)

wtf?
that's just wrong to say such a thing!

1994, was one of the oddest years according to me.

had some great tunes with fabulous buildups and I don't know why they always spiced it up with organ lines , what the hell where they thinking back then?

Posted by Uplifter on Aug-17-2002 18:04:

i agree on 2001 being the worst year for trance. ive benn into trance now for about 2 years! i dont think trance was that big before the year of 97/98 its much bigger now and is still hugely growing!!

goodness ! you can't ignore what existed before 97 , that is a major lack of culture! Tons of the dope artists today built their bases out of these years!

Posted by giorg0s on Aug-18-2002 02:10:

If something really great doesn't come out till the end of 2002 then i think this is the worst year. Most of the tunes look similar to each other. And many guys who have no idea of what trance is, want to get into the indusrty.

Posted by maluco on Aug-18-2002 02:17:

for sure 2002, this is the problem: the trance becomes in a thing too commercial for many dj's, oakey and pvd for example...

Posted by sebby on Aug-18-2002 10:46:

99' was awesome. 00' sucked. 01' got a little better. 02' is going the right direction.

Behold, my arse.

probably between 2000-2001

Posted by afastest on Aug-19-2002 14:48:

best are 98-99, agreed.
worst i dont know, since i have not much stuff from 90-95.
but the worst is 2001. imho

Posted by Luke Terry on Aug-20-2002 23:49:

Cool

i heard 458[bc] was a bad year, too much of a tribal influence

yes, and in the iron age there was a massive increase in the popularity of metal

Posted by DJ Logix on Aug-21-2002 00:15:

2001 Was absolutely the worst year i can think of 2002 hit off correctly tho. 1999-2000 loved the progressive sounds of those times.

btw 2002 is the year of rip offs (commercially-like)!!
but trance-like 2002 is quite good year, so far!

Yeah... A lot of the same styles tracks this year which is pissing me off!!!

Posted by VaNFeCto on Aug-21-2002 09:36:

I would say not so much bad years for trance but as it progresses and moves on as with anything more and more crap, rushed toghther, trying to be a one hit wonder (darude), and jus commercial radio crap is flooding the scene, I think there is no bad year for trance its just when the crap is is given more credit than the stuff thats actually compsed right and with time effort and a good feel for the music. I mean if it were a perfect world i would hear stuff like sunhump on my radio instead of dj encore i would hear more tiesto less gigi agostino but as more and more radio stationis find their financial claim in trance more and more crap will flood, and when the crap outweighs the good that my friend is when trance has a bad year

Posted by Ste on Aug-21-2002 09:46:

being serious here when i think of this summer i think of this thread, at the start of the year the was quite a lot of released t oall tastes but thsi usmmer there has been hardly anything specially compared to last year (too many too name) so to be honest i would say this year has been the worst going by the recent draught in tunes
