exactly right re: the controller aspect. I'm at university studying music and technology, and I'm planning to do a masters in design interactions. most midi controllers only provide a slightly different platform for intrinsically dull value/potentiometer changes. I'm hoping to develop (I've had a few concepts already) a much more gestural and physical feedback interface with which electronic musicians can interact. data can be manipulated in a just about limitless number of ways, but electing aesthetic value is rarely part of the consideration in interface developers.

It would would be cool to see some controller designs implementing different physical gestures/body motions as a way of controlling. Kinda like advanced versions of Roland's D-beam or other theramin like controls. I have no clue how it could be done but maybe dance music could then become exactly that.

I like the concept. Also heard rumours about Robert Plant's live shows in recent years using some kind of photo-sensors and arm movements to raise the pitch of his voice to be able to hit the notes he did in while he was in his prime. Dunno how much truth there is to that though?

Produce first then use your recognition to draw people to your sets and use DJ'ing as a platform to perform/make money. That's gonna be the new wave. Just like new great producers like Avicii.

that was the concept in 2000. little behind.
