Softball is for women. I'm 32, not 50. I'm in my prime.

I second Senna vs Prost... but I'm biased, and I'm tempted to say Brazil vs Argentina in football.

Nice! I wish I had had the same opportunity

most boring game to play even. I was good at baseball too. but fuck I couldnt take how fuckin boring it was. especially when you could only bat like twice a game if youre lucky. the rest of the game youre out on the field praying to god the next play you get to see some action. Def a fat mans game

I also grew up playing competitive soccer and double A hockey, so I guess continuous play sports kinda spoiled me.

Rep. of Ireland's national football team vs. Henry's hand.

Also anyone who dismisses baseball as boring, not a sport, etc. clearly just doesn't understand the complexities of it. Every play, every pitch, every running or batting situation involves strategy. It's a thinking man's game, not a fat man's game.

every Portuguese Ronaldo fan vs. Me

Football is more of a thinking mans game plus high impact action with explosions and beer.

football>baseball

Me vs people who care about sports.

Which football? If you're talking American football, it's not a thinking man's game, unless you count the offensive/defensive coordinators and coaches as the only people who are allowed to think. Everything else in football pretty much is a 1 vs. 1 battle. Not too much thinking involved in that.

If you're talking about European/Rest of the world football, then there's no way in hell you can call baseball boring.

I'm talking american football. coach vs coach QB vs QB thinking match.
and everyone else is doing the play theyre supposed to mindlessly

but lets face it in baseball the onbly people doing the thinking as well are the coaches and the back catcher. everybody else is doing the mindless work for each play theyv practiced a billion times before hand.

You mean the football that everyone in the world minus americans think is the most awesome and exciting sport ever vs a sport that even half of americans apparently find too boring to care about

Posted by Vivid Boy on Jun-14-2011 15:35:

I'll just say one thing about baseball. every professional athlete who has EVER gone on to play 2 professional sports in their career ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS picked baseball as a second sport and did it while simultaneously playing their original sport. Its just that damn easy to play.

That's partly true. The catcher calls pitches, but the pitcher can call them off. Also it's not just mindless work for each play they've practiced a billion times. There's tons of different situations that affect what a player would do if the ball is hit to them, etc. While yes, they are practiced, it's not as if it's mindless execution. They need to be constantly thinking about what they would do in x situation if y happens, or what to do in another situation if z happens. Same thing with hitters. They anticipate pitches based on pitcher's trends, how they're throwing that day, how the fielders are lined up, etc. There are many many things that go into every single play in baseball, and they're not scripted ahead of time as they are in football.

That's not true. Carl Crawford had a full ride to play football or basketball in college, and could have went pro in either.

Exciting moments in European football only happen a handful of times per game. Yes, they're incredibly exciting when they do happen, but the other 95% of the time it's incredibly monotonous. Soccer is a very elegant sport, but I wouldn't call it very exciting.

This just in: srussell knows everything about every sport.

Baseball players = Lollygaggers!

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-14-2011 15:51:

Dude just stfu, your act is tired. I know a lot about baseball because I both played it and have been a fan for a long time. I don't claim to know everything about any other sport, and everything I've said about any other sports is obvious that anyone could figure out from watching them even once.

Posted by psymon.d on Jun-14-2011 15:54:

baseball sux

Posted by Vivid Boy on Jun-14-2011 15:57:

People that played baseball as a second sport

and this is just off the top of my head:

Bo Jackson
Deion Sanders
Brian Jordan
Michael Jordan
Charlie Ward
Jim Thorpe

Honestly if I google I could come up with at least 50

Posted by Vivid Boy on Jun-14-2011 15:58:

I just want to highlight Michael Jordan again for LOL's
