And I will also guarantee you 100% that every person who listens to it, will say the same thing. You seem to be the newbie here not us. And there are some people on this board who have been training their ears to hear shit like that for the last 25 years. I'm telling you, they are both EXACTLY the same. Do you need me to prove it to you because I can and will? |

| Originally posted by Lunar Phase 7 There is a difference. That's for sure. Check on headphones perhaps? It could be either a filter/eq automation or it could also be he has layered another kick underneath that first one very subtly. |
No way, I really think you are both wrong and now I really want more people to listen to the first track he posted (thats what we are talking about right?).
First he said the kick at 30 was "light" and then the kick at 1:00 was "hard" (in his first post).
Then on page 3 he said the kick before 30 seconds is heavy, and the kick after 30 seconds is hipassed. So thats the complete opposite of what he initially said.
I'm not using that as grounds for my arguement I just think you are both confused (IF we are talking about the first track like I think we are).
You can tell pretty clearly the kick before 30 seconds has a nice subby low end. At 30 seconds nothing changes to it. Nor at 1 minute do I hear any automation. And I don't even hear it change like you said at the last few bars.
I DO think there is an "optical illusion" going on. And I'll tell you what I do hear. The kick before 30 seconds seems to have just a tiny tiny bit deeper low end. Then after 30 seconds he drops the bass, and the bass drowns out the kicks low end just a little bit. But it does not sound like he is hipassing the kick at any point. It sounds merely like he should have cut some sub from his bass, and because its being bussed to the same bus his kick is (likely) the bass is pushing down the kicks sub frequencies. But I definitely still do not hear any clear filtering going on. Nor do I hear anything in the seconds before it drops. It still has the same amount of sub so I'm not sure where you're hearing this hipass automation either.
We need more ears in this thread because we have 2 people saying its not being filtered and 2 saying it is. I say its the compressor on the bus causing the bass to squash out the subs in the kick, and I think thats all it is.
DJ Rann where are you? We need some expert ears in this thread.

But theres a specific preset in z3ta called "anabass" I have it in one of my packs. You would want to turn the resonance down about half way and at that point it sounds almost identical to this bass. |
The kick deffo changes. No doubt.
And now on speakers tbh I cant tell wtf is going on.
It could even be the bassdrum is layered with another.
same kick - highpassed at 30 secs, thats all, sounds like Tiesto (or whoever prodcues for him now) copied the "technique" from Deadmau5 lul

Any idea how to get that bass? I know how to do the automated cutoff and shit. Just that type of bass I'm looking for.
there's no change in the BD at 0:30. It's still the same BD but with an added bass pad. BUT at 1:00 the BD changes. (the LPF is removed after 1:00)
edit:
it's probably not LPF'd but a 2nd BD with more lowend is layered.

I agree. It's just some EQ automation over the kickdrum. Estiva does that too, in a lot of his tracks, for the first 30 seconds. Then he removes the (very high set!) lowcut so things sound fuller.
I'm not talking about the first Tiesto vid, just about how the sound can be achieved.

I had to put it on 1080p, put on my Senns and raise the volume cuz I couldn't hear shit, well besides the bass changing. It's very subtle but I finally heard it. I'm with Blake on this one. When I wanna do that, I double my kicks and filter one of them out.

surprised at all the shitty hearing in this thread.
You mean "come on, Tiesto paid someone to do it"
