| Originally posted by DJ RANN $20m a year. I love this sort of crap. It happened to Judge Jules back int he day as well. He was doing some documentary and a PR company was trying to hype it so got the sun to do an interview. next thing you know, even Jules himself is surprised to learn that he apparently earns 100,000 per set. The most a Dj has ever been paid was Junior Vanquey for his final set (ever) at MOS in london, and he got paid 10,000 per hour for a near 10 hour set. I think technically, Tiesto made more money from his stadium gig, Tiesto in Concert as he was essentially the promoter, and took the majority of the ticket sales (35,000 x $50 = $1.75m). He probably makes a couple of million a year from merchandise, but even then, I think $20m per year is exaggerated by at least $10m, and I'm not even talking about taxes and expenses. |

| Originally posted by DJ RANN Allegedly, Joel (the mau5) is commanding $100k for large gigs and festivals. Not bad for a TA! Tiesto is playing a gig here at a very small venue in Hollywood very soon, with tix costing $100 a go and only 800 capacity. It is probably already sold out. That's $80,000 right there and he's probably keeping at least half that. Not bad for a few hours work in your local club. |

The most talented (i realise that's a subjective term) do not always prosper due to market forces ie if you don't bring in the $$ you're not worth anything as a commodity. Life is also very much down to luck & being in the right place at the right time. Monroe, Arnie & Bruce all had 1 thing in common; the right project. Some like it hot, terminator & die hard were all star platforms. It all came together on the big screen & you couldn't take your eyes off them! none of them could claim to be the next richard burton/bette davis but i suppose you could argue that nobody else could of played the parts better than them also ![]() Tiesto, KFC & Coke all belong to the lowest common denominator within society, they pander to the "quick fix" crowd who want like you say a good time, nothing less nothing more & i can't lie & say i haven't at one time or another been a part of it because i have, we all have right Marketing, brands, buzz words, portfolio's, usps yada yada all leave me extremely cold tbh. I don't like the recent development of music, i don't like the direction it's taking & tiesto is just a symptom of a much bigger problem imo PS yes i am a horrible snob i admit it |

whyyyyyyy????? hes the most overated DJ EVEERRRR in the history of music, his productions are lame unless he collabs, vocals are good but he dont write em or as a matter of fact does he even do anything? i would be suprised if his cdjs automatically mix for him n he jsut puts headphones on n puts an act on that he is doing something.
HE right winds me up , theres so many brilliant big producers n djs out there that get no where near the amount of hype tiesto does.
I always thought avb was way better than tiesto, he just didnt have as good a marketing team.
He does pull the biggest crowds though, cant deny that. If the majority of the masses likes cheesy music, at least he caters to it.
