Ive heard of WAY bigger sums than that JV guy. on NYE sets for big namers ive heard of them making a couple of hundred thousand pounds etc. for 3-4 hour sets. im sure all of these could be just rumours as its not like any of us are the accountants of these big namers.

I'm not blaming it on anyone. I'm just saying that's the name I'm identifying it as. It's dirty dutch house, I've heard a ton of people call it that. Gar-bage. Regardless if who is to blame I don't have a better way of describing it. I love the Dutch.

This is nothing new. Major artists like Tiesto, Armin and so on have been pulling in 6 figures for 4-5 gig tours in Australia for years.

Don't forget Harrison Ford, perhaps the biggest example of being in the right place at the right time.

This 'insider snobbery' pervades all spheres. I got quite into gardening and sure enough the insider cool gang hate on classic plants that the masses like. You don;t care what is an 'in plant' you just want a plant that suits you on an infomral non too depp level, just as a music consumer wants. Meeting that lay persons everyday need is an art in itself, all too easy to dismiss as cheesy mass market pandering.

The point about the tastes of the masses comes down to accesibility. A layperson just wants something that is easy to engage with and easy to 'like'.
My kids can't stand my musak, they want Gaga, Chris Browne and D Pain. My 'boom boom' sh1t is inconsequential and irrelevant.

I'm almost 15. I was raised on eurodance and psytrance. Discovered Tranceport two years ago. Yea that is the story of my life.

Given I also like the cheesy music, but it depends on what I'm in the mood for.

whyyyyyyy????? hes the most overated DJ EVEERRRR in the history of music, his productions are lame unless he collabs, vocals are good but he dont write em or as a matter of fact does he even do anything? i would be suprised if his cdjs automatically mix for him n he jsut puts headphones on n puts an act on that he is doing something.

HE right winds me up , theres so many brilliant big producers n djs out there that get no where near the amount of hype tiesto does.

I always thought avb was way better than tiesto, he just didnt have as good a marketing team.

He does pull the biggest crowds though, cant deny that. If the majority of the masses likes cheesy music, at least he caters to it.

Tiesto made a tonne more better tracks (regardless of who made them, let's not get into that again) and his track selection was miles ahead. Ok so his mixing sucked compared to Armin but fuck me, is it just me or can Armin not read a crowd?
