Holland is the mekka of trance with all his parties.
England is the best for progressive.
About Belgium, they HAD the best club on earth Zillion, but it closed.
Still they have certainly better clubs here then in Holland (maybe also then the UK), la Rocca, cherry Moon, Atmoz, La Bush, Lagoa, ....etc.
Only its not all trance they spin here, shame..

atmoz? don't make me laugh!
BBC is ok, lot's of trance is being played there too

but to answer the question, for me it's holland as well. belgium is ok (m.i.k.e., l-vee, ...), but a lot of sh*t comes out as well.

oh, and don't forget sweden! (airbase/the scarab, inzite, ...)

Atmoz Hasselt was great before it closed, like I said not all trance but it was a nice time when I went there!!

Nononnon. Come to North American. Say you like trance to somebody, they will say "what is trance"

Gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Posted by Lytchix on Aug-16-2002 17:09:

It's not different in France.

Do you know why it's worst? Because we have Gremany, Belgium & Switzerland next to us and there is no influence from these countrys to our music...
French ppl are narrow-minded.

Posted by netw3rkd on Aug-16-2002 17:13:

Yea, here it's 100% rap. Everywhere..radio, tv, stores, recird stores, schools, everywhere...RAP! You find somebody who likes trance, but they only know cheese shit like Darude and so on. AHhhhhh I wanna live in Holland. Stupid North America..everybody listens to rap..especiall kids. They do because it makes them "cool" and fulla wiggers.

Belguim is following fast into the wigger thing ...
schoolboys of 13 years are now walking along with their pants on their feet, and they don't even know what it's all about. They now 2-3 names like eminem (the uberwigger), dre and that stuff ..
I don't wanna give comment at the music since that is subjective but the whole "culture" (being "cool", being a "tough" guy, doing crimes...) rather pathetic if you ask me

I wanna see more trance and techno guys

Posted by SiM PeRf on Aug-16-2002 18:38:

definitly holland!
here in canada, particularly in mtl, the djs spin more house music...

Mykonos here in Greece is a great place to be!
Only in the summer though

Posted by Dj Thy on Aug-16-2002 19:07:

The Netherlands for sure, gotta agree with my fellow Belgians here. We got some great producers, but in general the dutchies ut out far more quality tunes out. That and the fact that that lousy jumper style is getting popular again in the clubs here...

Posted by teo on Aug-16-2002 20:55:

yeah...here in Greece Mykonos is greate...i think many of u have come here in the summer or will when they get old enough ...Not a big trance scene but progressive for sure !

OK, im gonna do a bold thing and stick up for america. I wont argue that America does not have trace in radio, tv, stores, etc whatever. But i couldve sworn i saw a thread a while back with a ton of ppl sayin trance should stay "undeground." Well, in America, its pretty much underground minus the cheeze they play on the radio. I live in DC and i dont think there is a trance station that i know of. If thats a good thing or a bad thing? . . . . .who knows. Im just satisfied with sites like TA, trance.nu, and major DJs hittin up DC more frequently now.
I really dont care if there isnt a trance radio, trance store, trance clothing line blah blah blah in the united states.

All i care is that BT, Sasha, and Armin Van Buuren played here this month, and next month, it will be Johan Gielen and Marco V.

I cant really ask for a better 2 months other than more money and a better sex life.

Cheers,

ps: keep the flaming to a minimum please

Nothing at all here in Ireland.... Eurodance/Cheese is all thats here - in the shops, clubs, radios etc.

I've yet to find ONE person who likes 'proper' trance, or has even heard of it. (Thats not on this forum BTW )

Germany & Holland hands down.

Uh, we have one of the smallest trance scene in the world. Pretty good goa/techno scene for people into that though. Lots of undeground parties. But no major DJ has ever spinned here, ie Tiesto, Armin, van Dyk, Ferry..

Well Tiesto played here back in 2000, but that was like a month before I got into the scene, shame,

I agree, USA is the most shittest country for trance thats why i'll never wanna go there...

Australia is pretty decent with trance.

Id say the Internet.
But thats not a country!

Posted by infinity HiGH on Aug-17-2002 03:40:

just to defend north america...

1. Sasha & John Digweed were residents at Twilo for a very long time. They spent more time in USA than any other country, with the exception of maybe the UK.
2. The World Music Conference in Miami.
3. I hear that Montreal has some crazy-ass raves.
4. Toronto isn't that bad as well, although the crowd needs a definate fix.
5. HMV stores carry a crapload of trance, house, and progressive cd's.
6. I don't know about other clubs because I don't go out of town, but The Guvernment and System Soundbar in Toronto seem to be pulling in some nice names on a monthly basis. AvB is rumoured to be startin a bi-monthly residency here.

Sure, we might not get world-renowned events like Loveparade or Mayday or Innercity...Or get 3-5 world-class DJ's on a weekly basis like Gatecrasher does, but hey, we're not that bad off.

Posted by EriK_V on Aug-17-2002 04:11:

I agree with Busy, stop ragging on the US. If we're not "cool" and "hip" like all those other "banggin" trance countries out there maybe it's because their music sucks ass? Maybe because 98% of the people here know what good music is? Perhaps because they don't like listening to underground shit that sucks my left foot? Leave us alone and let us sit in our house on our sofa's wathching 2pac, Ja Rule, and P Diddy eating our big piece of chicken. And if you don't like living in the US then leave or go sit in a cave with your fingers in your ears. Also on a side note, at least we have real dj's who know how to scratch and really use the tables, not just beatmatch with shitty BPM counters.

P.S. I still like trance

Scratching to trance? I haven't heard of an American DJ do that. With trance and progressive, it's all about flow my friend. Imagine, for one sec, if you went to see PvD and midway through For An Angel he starts scratching. Oh, and as a matter of fact...listen to some of Hybrid's livesets...the Sydney set, more specifically. I dunno about you, but thats some real badass scratching in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tracks

Secondly, those "shitty" BPM counters are their brains. And beat-matching is only a small part of the job.

Gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

I think Moby is da only one who plays electronic music there,FUCKIN' eminem attacked his music in his latest shit video, sayin' Moby=techno in USA

Posted by michif72 on Aug-17-2002 09:05:

I think the Netherlands & UK are the best for melodic and uplifting TranceAddicts.......
Living in Germany is great for the people who want to hear a lot of cheap hardtrance in the charts......but on the other hand, germany has the biggest and greatest Techno-Scene,there's really no equal alternative..........
In America there's much to improve...........

Posted by Sid on Aug-17-2002 10:36:

Australia !lol although we have some pretty good djs in Nik fish , Pee wee ferris, Bexta and Paul holden I dont think we would be up there.

Germany Uk and Holland

PvD forever !
