In general there's just so many different means of socialising on the net nowadays. FB/Twitter or just all the sites you can use for entertainment and killing time. Good for users, bad for TA hits.

Posted by phyrrus on Jul-08-2011 20:31:

most of the discussion that happens in here seems to be between people who know each other personally and like to repeat inside jokes, use each others real names, etc. this is disconcerting for those of us on the outside, who either don't know you people in real life and/or don't care. perhaps this could be remedied by some sort of list compiling each TA's current and previous names, personality traits, and reasons why we should laugh at them.

I love your breakbeat remix of Radiohead - Talk Show Host

we need some sort of battle royale to liven things up in here

Posted by noikeee on Jul-08-2011 22:22:

the simple answer is, because trance is dead

This

People don't create new threads becausethe environment here isn't conducive to friendly or intelligent discussion. People don't participate in threads because most topics quickly fracture and disintegrate into the same ppl arguing over the same useless shit.

...and this

Early TA normal ppl who liked edm hung out here, now the cor is home for social misfits and deviants who have no lives.

Basically the most threads in the c0r are a circle jerk of regulars all repeating variations of the same insider jokes, to try to break the sheer monotony of their mind-numbingly boring lives and give them personality outside of their mundane existence.

The sad thing is, when real topics have come up, there's some damn informed discussion and some decent minds on here.

I always find TA to be quieter in the northern hemisphere summer-time. I presume this is because people are outdoors doing shit because the weather is good, rather than inside at the computer.

Bahaha @ Jarvmeister and DJ RANN.

Anyways, summer.

Perhaps it's just this, but I agree with Nou. I was thinking this last week before even seeing this. The pictures and random talking threads seem to be where all the action is and discussions outside of there usually just resolve into tired jokes about Nou and IGK.

I've seen worse. I think the c0r has got a lot nicer over the years. Either that or I've accepted c0r behavior as decorum.

Also, I've been on Realjock.com more than here...it's a gay muscle building website that's degenerated down to gays flaming each other like 10 times as much as the c0r and PD used to do. It's really entertaining now and there's like tons of n00bs and trolls in it every day.

Do you even pay attention in the c0r or just spend your time in the production forum and just make assumptions?

Most of the regulars here tend to lead pretty damn interesting lives.
Oh no wait, we're all 15 year old males with faces full of pimples and our virgin card still intact

Little bit of column A, little bit of column B, little bit on your column.

LOL that's so TA 2003.

Hey, you could always join plurlife!

I like the somewhat-scarcity of this forum. I used to be a really active member of the Penny Arcade forums once upon a time (college), but there are just so many users that it required too much attention, so I sort of outgrew it.

Here I can get a nice meme fix and occasionally talk about something that matters, but I don't have to check the damn thing every 5 minutes just to make sure I didn't miss something.

That's what I've always thought.

This thread says what I was thinking for a while back;
it seems that Trance apexed in the early to very late 90s
then the commercial end of the business kicked into high gear

I think after so much of Trance I eventually was turned off and drifted deeper into the sound

I think that as a whole the scene of Trance has died down after the Apex
moving onto other sounds which is odd because gabber/hardcore died off
then the intermeshing of trance with that gabber/hardcore sound creates
hardstyle and now that is being mixed with MC's and Dubstep

The mainstream contemporaries of the time are leaving to find other sounds

Unfortunately this website has a URL geared towards TRANCE mostly the electronic variety

but I believe Trance is more than just this electronic genre

oh well people come and go
some never come back
tis life

I've been coming here for years, since 2001 and I remember when COR was funniest place on TA... nowdays, it's bunch of new cunts like AssRussell and ShittyHandle, EddieZilcher along with NaziJay and a supporting cadre of idiotic inbreeds that are fucking it up for the rest of us.

lax moderation doesn't help to nip the problem in the bud either. mass bullying or plain stupidity make this place like taking a dip in a cesspool of AIDS shit on a hot summer day. I guess if TA was making money on visitors things would be different as there would be more reasons to actually increase and retain visitor traffic. Ultimately, I think the fate of TA community, unless things drastically change, is pretty much sealed. And it is a shame, as I (and I believe) many others really used to enjoy coming here and would spend hours a day, whereas now - I try to avoid this place unless I'm completely bored and theres absolutely nothing else to do.

Which, if you think about it, may be a positive thing from a productive use of time standpoint.
