Andrew McDonnell is also doing great on the progressive side.

These two are by far my favorites. Big respect!

its about time

but the 3 first mentioned artists are responsible for getting toronto on the international map so to speak...the second, third and fourth waves, all are stellar on there own merit, but people are paying more attention now, thanks to the 3 mentioned by jj off the bat.

I know this simply based on the magazines I deal with and what they know now about the city, compared to 6 months, a year, two years ago.

Its amazing to watch.

Yeah Philip Arruda is really, really good. I re-use a lot of his tracks in my shows. His Life of an Alley Cat release last year was really amazing. You guys should check out "Milhafre". I find a lot of tracks 'save' my set.

It's the song in the last minute of the video.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Nick Holder as well. He produces some really amazing deep house stuff. Wow.

^^^This is just SUBLIME.

Someone mentioned that Carlo Lio is the only big guy for the tech house scene. He may be the biggest, but I find Arruda's stuff to be more varied...some of Carlo's productions sound too much of the same and not different enough.

I agree with Basic Soul Unit as well. He does good shit. Another notable is Paul Kwitek. He's more on the ambient/chillout side and he prodcuces some amazing songs. He does some some prog house as well.

I hope to get some 'real' producers on my show in the future. I play CDN artists all the time.

What 'appened to my little 'onda?

I had to crash that Honda baby.

Who's motorcycle is this?

It's not a motorcycle. It's a chopper.

Who's chopper is it?

It's Zed's.

Who is Zed?

Zed's dead baby. Zed's dead...

Can't forget Dick T

No mention of MSTRKRFT and Crystal Castles? After Deadmau5 they're probably the most globally popular to come out of Toronto.

And on the drum n bass side of things, have to give shout outs to NC-17 and Marcus Visionary of course, as well as up-and-comers like Schematic and Stranja.

Why do so many people think FL Studio is like a Fisher-Price toy? I'm an Ableton Live person myself but countless massive producers from multiple genres use FL exclusively (including Arnej, Porter Robinson) - it is an extremely powerful DAW in the right hands.

Anyway, lets not derail the thread... Our scene is fucking awesome. I love it - everyone has their own little place. It's not too crowded, not too empty. It's easy enough for the talent all across the GTA to shine through and get some play time in big clubs.

I started off in FL back in 2002 but switched to ableton in 2004 only because of the low latency with my shitty PC and cheap midi controller

FL definitely has balls....i think just because it's so graphic is it frowned upon.
