Definitely smell.

A harder choice for me would be whether to go blind in one eye or deaf in one ear. I think I would choose the eye.

Likewise. I think everyone thinks they will look cool with an eyepatch

Taste.

Worst case: you taste something really bad and spit it out.

Plus, in consideration of the well documented and established logic, you could never be blamed for dealing the fart.

That's easier, imo. With one good ear, you can still hear. Without both eyes, you lose depth perception.

Your body adapts to it though. It's more like you temporarily lose depth perception.

Like srussell said, there are cognitive mechanisms that make up for the loss of an eye. I think you lose more sensory richness by losing an ear, though. Try listening to music with an ear totally plugged versus watching a movie with one eye covered. The former just sucks, but the latter seems fine, for me anyway.

My Dad has Graves Disease which in some cases can cause the muscles behind the eye to become inflamed which push the eyes outward (kind of like Rodney Dangerfield). He had surgery to correct this, and ended up losing his sight completely in one eye. He couldn't do things like drive and whatnot for a short time afterwards, but it was only a matter of weeks before he "regained" his depth perception, and now he doesn't even notice it.

Throw him a baseball and see what happens.

Haha that's funny that you say that. I asked my Dad to play catch the last time I saw him and he said he couldn't because he didn't want to take one in the face. That's still not an ordinary situation though. Most people never encounter a situation where they must dodge a small projectile in order to save their life. Judging a small object with a somewhat variable flight path is a lot different than judging a bus that's driving straight at you.

Yes. Cocaine will even taste/smell different based on what it's been cut with.

Taste for 6 weeks so I can eat food that is very good for me but tastes rank.

Posted by Chris Crossland on Jul-16-2011 22:03:

I would go with taste.

My mum only has one eye. She had cancer as a baby and they removed it. She's never had a problem catching or driving. I suppose it would be very different living with two eyes, then losing one. I use to cover up one eye to get an idea what my mom sees and it's terrible. Would be very hard to get use to.

I always like asking, because usually when people tell me that they think some food item tastes awful, it tends to be that the item tastes good and they just don't know how to cook

lol no. I love veg, but I dislike fish, just the 'fishy' taste puts me off.

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Jul-17-2011 16:51:

If it tastes overly fishy it is because it isn't fresh. I'm sure I could get you to like it with a few sly tricks. White fish is the easiest for haters.

Eating fish is not that healthy anyways, unless you are eating species that are lower down on the food chain.

Posted by Ian on Jul-17-2011 17:13:

The only fish I liked was last year in spain when I tried some baked fresh sea bass which was baked with tons of garlic & chives & wasn't too bad. I find the texture weird too sometimes. I didn't mind lobster though (fresh from nova scotia) but here in the uk i live pretty much right in the centre so it's not easy to buy the 'fresh' as I can get on spanish islands for example.

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Jul-17-2011 17:35:

We could also hog tie you to a table and force feed you fish until you are completely desensitized. The plunger poking out of your starfish is optional, but highly recommended in speeding up this process. Picky bastid!

My gf can be picky sometimes, but she is going to learn to like stuff because I'm not going to raise little faggots that always complain and just want to eat white bread and chocolate. I hate little fucks like that, and their parents even more for pandering to them creating a new influx of little difficult self entitled cunts that go to restaurants and ask for shit that isn't on the menu with everything deconstructed and not touching. RAGEE!

Posted by Ian on Jul-17-2011 17:52:

I have tried a lot more in the last couple of years. Some of it I liked, other I didn't, although north american 'sandwiches' aren't something I'd ever like. Way too processed, getting good sandwich meat was so hard that I just went veggie fillings for a month

Posted by Ian on Jul-17-2011 17:57:

tried this today - http://www.merchant-gourmet.com/pro...d-white-quinoa/

stirred in spring onions & stuff a yellow pepper but it was rather rank although texture wasn't too bad.

next to 'try' from their range is this one - http://www.merchant-gourmet.com/pro...ooms-and-thyme/
