my 2 cents worth

hey people,
that's pretty interesting to hear PvD on the radio... but i like trance hip hip AND r n b so it doesnt really mean a thing to me (Although i dont listen to the radio PERIOD, those stations we have in TO suck ass and they usually play the same handful of songs all day...)
in the end i think its good since it adds more diversity to the radio, its good to hear a different tune every now and then, and its true that if trance was mainstream here then we'd have a chance of getting a bigger party with big dj's from the UK here as well, and the only way you're gonna have that happen is expose more people to it via the radio... although i understand the side effects of having trance go mainstream, this may be something that we should all just accept and see what happens in the oncoming months... it could be a good thing, or not??
btw, ja rule is a punk ass bitch who sold out years ago... damn you Murder Inc, and you can add Nas to that group as well... hip hop truly is all about money now...

for years now i�ve been collecting samples of animals,insects, people of different races mating in most bizzare positions, places and environments one can possibly think of. Think of two gorillas getting their funk on in a pool of jello.. the rarity of this is simple priceless.. the radio waves and the new ambience that I have created hits straight to the heart.

who cares about pvd on the radio. who here even listens to the radio..

most people don�t understand trance because they are impatient little monkies. they like to be spoon fed of a catchy mainstream tunes and that�s all there is too it. trance tunes are a journey, with ups and downs, before you get the the first base drop or the first uplifting note the DJ or mc on the radio mixes it out or cuts it before it even gets good because most people get impatient or just don�t get it.. they just want the mindless catchy chorus, mindless catchy beat..

let them keep it and lets get back to reality.

What a paradox. Ppl complain that z103 play shit music, why don't they ever play any good music!

Then when they do play "good" music, ppl complain that z103 should stick to the shit music, and keep the "good" music off the air, cuz it has to stay elite.

Meh, we're alive has been a commerical hit for a long time now. :P its PvD's most commericalized song. z103 has played alot of trance, people here complain about it. But they also complain about how crappy 103 is. How is it gonna improve if tehy don't play trance then?

i listen to the radio all day in my truck (at work, =P), and i'm glad z103 mixes it up a bit with songs like, william hawk - sunrise, rank 1 - awakening, and whatever trance they might play next.

well, here goes another z103 flame fest... my question for the z103 haters is, why do you care whats on z103 if you don't listen? that's like me bitching about classical 96.3... makes no sense cause i don't listen to it...

e*master: the top 10 at 10, or whatever on z103 isn't rigged... its not like its some HUGE conspiracy by the record labels to make their music popular. if it was, i doubt ppk, or silverblue would've made it to the top 10, =P.

as for ja rule, he sucks... hahaha... he's an awful actor, and rapper..... AND ONLY FOR THE RULE BABY! hahahaha.. that kills me.. i love that song.

anyways, this point has been debated to death, and z103 is apparently the root of all evil. i guess some people just don't want people to join their exclusive little treehouse club... reminds me of kids in grade 1, =P.

Z has no idea how to keep listeners, right after they play awakening, they go into the new bon jovi

I hate to break it to some of the people that posted earlier in this thread and on other threads, but Trance is already the most commercial electronic music. Well except for some house music... This is probably because it has the most catchy beats, rifts, tones and lyrics. I think most people new to Trance music enjoy it because it's easy on the ears and easy to dance to. They may not fully understand how trance can really stimulate the mind, but does that really matter? Just accept it that some people you don't like may listen to the same music as you. Are you gonna change your taste in music because of it??? Listen to the music you enjoy... Don't just listen to music because you think it creates a "Cool Image" for you.

Share the music...

anyways, sorry to burst your bubble, but beats are beats, and u can be listening to house, trance, freestyle, or eurohits 2000, the outside non-listener will consider it gino beats regardless.
trust me, I was playing trance at a school function, and the girl came up and said "can we get some reggae now? you've been playing gino-beats for the past hour"

So, u can forget about saving your image, to the outside person, its all the same anyways.

i don't mind if "We Are Alive" is only a start, and followed by the likes of Lost Witness, Push, and Way Out West, it's even great if z103.5 starts educating the public with good trance. don't you want trance to surpass drum & bass (or whatever) and become the biggest underground scene in canada? remember that the public is slow in adapting new stuff, you just can't shove Sander Kleinenberg or Armin van Buuren down their throat when they're content with Darude and Lasgo, so give them time. once they've heard enough good stuff, they'll be able to tell between the cheese music and the real thing.

listen to the man. thanx Chris C for reminding us how canadian radio stations work. and Chris, to answer your question, Max Graham and Delerium are all i could think of, even tho Delerium don't make trance themselves. Plastikman, maybe? that's techno but Tiesto has mixed it into his set.

Actually, you can sometimes hear trance sets (good stuff too, a few hours long) sometimes on 100.7 late at night. A few years ago (don't know about now) they used to broadcast live the stream from 1groove.com.
z103 is 100% PURE commercialism. Until you start making toronto listeners go from hip-hop to trance, they they wont take any chances with the real stuff, and will only occasionally play eurodance/weak-trance. Some of the highschoolers like to hear some "gino beats" every once in a while, and the execs over there make it so.
The faithful z103 listeners probably think that dance music was the first to start using the trance-style synth lines. HAHAHAHA

Hip-Hop is the real stuff, look at the sales, hip-hop is over 50% of the music market, how can you be so blind and say that�s not the "real stuff", you got to be joking me. Trance sales will NEVER, NEVER and NEVER compare to hip-hop sales. Nor will Trance + House + Dance music sales compare to Hip-Hop sales.

I�m not going to sit here and defend one style of music over another, because there would be no end to it, but please, please, please don�t be so closed minded. There is no way that you will convert a �Hip-Hop� crowd to a �Trance� crowd.

hehehehe, sorry to rain on your parade buddy but when i said "real stuff" i meant real trance as opposed to the dance they usually play on z103. reread the post
