oh heres a qtvr of the place:
Michigan Stadium

looks normal, but when you see it only has 1 level, and holds that many people its impressive. oh, and being there is almost necessary - but thats always tru!

I agree, wholeheartedly.

Hmmmm, I don't agree completely.....
I've been in De Kuip for 7 times, but it has to be completely sold out before there is a good atmosphere. I can remember times when my team played there and there were 15.000 - 20.000 seats taken. And it was a very cold surrounding......sorry.

Greetings.

behold: The home of Red Star from Belgrade, Yugoslavia:

The pictures were taken in 1991 during the European Champions match vs. Bayern Munich. What can I say? The stadium blew up!!! Red Star went on to become the European Champion that year. I'll never forget it... Ahh the memories

Off course Nou Camp, Barcelona
Santiago Bernabeau, Madrid
San Siro, Milan
De Kuip, Rotterdam
Artemio Franchi, Firenze
Olympisch Stadion, Amsterdam, back those days when Ajax played their European games.
And of course, the fantastic Wagner & Partner stadion, Sittard, unfortunately no pic, but being serious, it sucks bigtime

Ow by the way:

IMO, The Amsterdam ArenA suxxx, compared to De Kuip it hasn't got that atmosphere, and most of the Ajax fans say their old stadium, De Meer was much better, it wasn't big, but had the stands close to the field and a good pitch

Nou Camp, Barcelona. Beautifull

The old sombreo in Tampa, one of the classic NFL stadiums, such nostalgia with it, all those soccer stadiums around the world are nice, but b/c of the fans, whats better than the good ole sombreo it was the shit, (literally, ha), close 2nd is the Swamp in Gainesville, 90,000 fans all close and you just get goose bumps when the Gators run out on the field, you get yelled at if you sit down, everybody loses their voice at the end of the game b/c of all the yelling and screaming, man good times

have to be granville rugby park
home of the parramatta two blues
remember the old school seats? the long rails? you can get around 200 ppl on them.
the corporate box seats around 10 people on chairs that could fall apart at any moment
incredible atmosphere especially since every1 is usually drunk and hurling abuse at the opposition/ref

Apparently nobody knows that the world Number 1 is the Maracana Stadium in Brazil. CAPACITY = 200.000 BRAZILIAN SUPPORTERS

Posted by Franz on Jan-02-2003 16:14:

hah, you silly soccer fans. wrigley field is definately the best. you cannot beat it, its like in the middle of a neighborhood with the fans on the rooftops, all the bleacher bums, and the night games. cap.=40,000 though,but.. BUT they are adding some more seats, lol. kinda hard to follow up a 200,000 max cap. post.blah

The Nou Camp is big and expensive but the Barca fans are SHIT!! Hell they get cup games included with their season ticket and only half their fans turned up to watch Newcastle! Wankers.

Having a big ground is only half of the equation. You need to fill it for EVERY game without fail, and the fans need to be mental.

One of the most notorious stadiums I have heard of is Ali Sami Yen in Istanbul, Turkey. It is home to the notorious Galatasaray fans and is known around European football circles as "Hell". Their fans gained notoriety when travelling English Leeds fans, many of whom were dangerous hooligans, were stabbed to death in downtown Istanbul in 2000 in a night of rioting throughout the city. It isn't big and it isn't pretty, but it's pretty notorious. They often wait at the airport for travelling fans displaying intimidating banners such as "welcome to Hell". Virtually every time the English fans have been there has been trouble.
