At which point did I talk about dance music?

Good for you, I guess

It's a bit of a ridiculous idea that you can't be shown any new music or taken on a journey to new places in a club, that a club entirely exists to replay tracks you all know so everyone can sing along in beer-y circles.

I was talking about the people who want to hear this kind of music. DJ's like this would not exist if it wasn't for them. But it was jolly good of you to jump on the subject like the knight in shining armor that you are.

I'd find that a bit shit.

Posted by Trance-M on Sep-03-2011 11:58:

If someone told me all he's doing is fake and when I look at 3:08 at the mixer I actually would believe that.

Youtube commemt always are fun to read:

quote:
im sorry but ive had better djs in my back yard parties

i think a mix tape could do better than him. pop it in and press play. LOL

amazingly bad DJ

Saw an old video of Ben Liebrand at Youtube telling he often was that focused on mixing he didn't even notice the crowd was going wild.
There is still a lot someone can learn from the master.

Thanks for specifying that. OH WAIT.

Why? The very nature of dance music is that you don't need to know the words to participate, because you can always dance to it.

I'm well aware of that. I have no issue with not knowing many of the tracks I hear when I'm out. But to go out and most of the time not knowing ANY would be disappointing. Hearing tune's I'm currently digging played out on a proper sound system in a club environment will often be the highlights of the night.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Sep-03-2011 13:03:

Most of the tunes I'm digging at home aren't what I'd expect to hear in a club anyway. And I go to quite a wide variety of nights, so I just don't keep track with most of the tunes being released in each scene.

"they do not know it, but they are doing it"

what are they doing? listening to shit music and shittier djs.

Posted by corjay9 on Sep-03-2011 23:06:

He's pretty good, the music isn't my thing but you can't shit on him for being a poor DJ.

I stopped watching JS long ago but I hear Pauly D's actually a really nice guy, respectful and not conceited.

Fuck.

So who actually is this guy?

Posted by Trance-M on Sep-04-2011 13:14:

Can someone explain to me why I can't hear the anything changing while he moves the crossfader a couple of times @48 seconds?
Now I even doubt the laptop is connected to the mixer. A stupid CD player running his pre-mix seems most likely.

Posted by Salem on Sep-04-2011 22:23:

this is why we gota chase em out, them the shm, etc. They gota fucking go. What a joke.

Posted by Salem on Sep-04-2011 22:24:

Posted by bas on Sep-05-2011 00:14:

It's one big fucking commercial of people who are usually shallow and out of touch with their own reality.

And there's nothing shallow about judging people completely by their choice in music

and why he can move the playing record without it sounding even though the fader is up on that channel. and switch back and forth "cueing" songs independent of which record is playing

1.- Is this considered a dj? Because apparently it is pre recorded for the very few seconds i've seen.

2.- Playing for stupid girls is easy, play the top 40 following this order: ranked position 20,18,16,14,12,10,19,17,15,13,11..... leave the top 10 to close your set.

Done, you don't need to beatmatch, you don't need to mix in key you don't need nothing just "play good music" and if some of them asks for what she thinks is an incredible tune that you are not going to mix (probably something beneath top 1 and between top 10) you'll rock double

Seriously it's funny how that mobile djs succeed playing the same set everywhere they go, had the chance to see the same guy playing the same set on friday and on saturday, do you think people mocked? He has been playing that successful set for years and nobody complained!
