Also found some new artists to add to my downloads so all in all...FUCKKKKKING beautiful event!!!!! |
Didn't go in to the trance room I got enough of it on the boat.
I was jumping back between Main Room and Orange Room, Jon was laying down some nasty beats.
Junkies Ripped it up in the main room, heavy stuff from them like always.
Loco Dice blew my fucking mind saturday! He played so much harder than I am used to hearing from him and his mixing was really clean, normally you hear semi train wrecks from him and bad sound levels but shit that was insane! he looked like he was having a great time and the crowd was jamming out which made me happy because I was no sure how they would react. Ovi said it best " The people who really love this music came out tonight"
Dubfire was incredible, he was less focused on the people around him and was enjoying himself, doing funny little motions with the mixer and the maschine and I kind of feel like he was playing for himself which I thought was great. It wasn't as good as his Family Day set but it had a great groove then it got dark and heavy in the last hour.
Calderone was not impressive at all again, his tracks were pretty generic and his build up/drops were not impacting.. really big build up and then nothing. He got better at the end though which made me happy but that was probably his last 45 mins to an hour.
Dubfires tour manager I think it is, some dude in the booth with him was whacked out of his mind, he came out on the patio with Ali and was talking complete nonsense to us, he was super entertaining doing these random dances holding a glowing flower all night.
The lighting was great Saturday, one point the fog just got so much with this blue type of strobe light it was a really cool effect and we lost a bunch of people who were with us because they got freaked out lol.
I was in somebodys booth and there was this asian dude there he reminded me of the asian guy from the hangover 2, same high voice and talking like he was the shit, he brought up how they are all producers there and pointed out Adam K. Nothing to do with anything but I thought it was funny that this guy was acting this way.
Saturday didn't feel like a Labour Of Love, it felt like more of a Techno event on a normal Saturday night and I loved it, Guv needs more Techno there imo. Other than Calderones set it was a perfect night 5/5
Sunday was just disgusting, I didn't have fun till the end... but I expected it.
Sunnary James and Ryan Marciano were pretty decent but had no flow at the start, I was expecting some nice house beats from all of them and got generic tech house but I still enjoyed it knowing what was coming later on. They got in to some nice House later on in the set and had the crowd rocking, they were having a great time.
Benny Benassi started off with some nice progressive and then it went all down hill, he has done this before making me think that it was going to be a nice set and then change it up. Electro was very corny and then he went in to dubstep, so we just started making obnoxious dubstep sounds on the patio while my friend showed random people weird pics on his phone as they walked by, it was a good laugh with the confusion on there faces.. that is how bored we were.
Avicii was same old, I feel like i heard the same set from him 3 times now and couldn't take it anymore so we did the mission of trying to get through the sardine can guv was made in to.
Finally get through to watch Deko-ze do his Sunrise set, he was playing classics and dropped "Spin Spin Sugar - Sneaker Pimps" that got me off my ass and start dancing, then all of a sudden at 6 am the bouncer says cut it and then harasses deko-ze some more. This made me really angry because it's a tradition that deko-ze closes out guv from skybar.
Made our way down and thank god Manzone and Strong are on and did they ever kill it, they play deep Tech and were relentless. The bouncer came at almost 8 am and said cut it, it looked like fab didn't want to stop but what can you do. They saved my night!
I am glad I didn't pay because I would of felt ripped off for Sunday, it was a really cool vibe from people but all in all just wasn't fun.
How was the crowd/numbers for Saturday...I heard they were pretty light...that's what you get for being greedy and not selling 1 day passes...

Here are my videos of Day 1 of LoL2011.
Day 2's videos are being uploaded at the moment.
What a crazy ass insane party weekend this was.
Nice moment at the end of this video when Paavo grabs a girl from the front of the stage & brings her up into the dj booth. The crowd loses it.
...and my favorite set of the night went to this man. Killed it.
I'll post my videos of Day2 once they finish uploading. I have to say, they're probably some of the best videos I've ever taken. They're insane!!! You guys will especially love the Benny Benassi & Avicii ones. Pretty Epic.
I went Saturday night. It was probably one of my best Guv nights to date.I arrived at 12 and was very pleasantly surprised to see that there was little to no line up depending on if you were enterting through Guv of KH. I hung out in Guv while I waited for the rest of my group to arrive. At around 115 we headed over to kh to catch the end of Gareth Emery's set(which wasnt any better than the boat cruise). KH was a sweat fest. I was only able to handle 45 min of A&B before I had to leave the sauna. Checked out the media tent. I was pretty impressed being the phone/picture addict that I am. We then decided to venture up to skybar(my first time), it was awesome. At around 230 I was given a visual treat of fireworks. This was the least busy all-access event I have been to. There were enough people to have a good time and yet still have room to dance. I left early around 430.
Thought Koolhaus Saturday was awesome. Only caught the 2nd half of Emery and the full set of A&B. Though a guy did collapse in the middle of the floor towards the end of A&Bs set which kinda killed the vibe otherwise it was an awesome night. Trance fans should've went to Montreal Sunday Arty/Tritonal killed it at the afterhours there.

As promised, here are my videos of Day2 LoL2011
In the Koolhaus The Crookers, despite not being my kinda thing, still had the place rocking early & pretty busy, as you'll see
Amazing performance by Benny Benassi on Sunday. He completely destroyed the crowd & had everyone going apeshit. Loved it. In this vid you'll also see when he stands on the decks & sprays the crowd with a fog machine.
...and of course the man many people came & waited to see, Avicii
I got in on Sunday for $80, way more then what i wanted to pay...
But I still had a wikkid time even thou all the rooms were empty except for the main room, which was a complete mess!
So jammed and sweaty, but the tunes were good...
Finally seen Avicii and..... i gotta tell ya he played alot of hits and it was boarder line chessey.... still good and i would see him again....
I like Benny, regardless of what ppl say about him.... I didnt like how he started banging out the Dubstep, I cant listen to it for too long....
I caught some of Riva on Skybar.... he was ok
I walked into Koolhaus once, and it was less then half full.... BUT I did get to hear The Bloody BeatRoots bang out Warp and that track is crazy.... even thou its 2years old, still luv it.....
The tent was empty yet again, but from what i can tell there was no sound issues unlike at Freedom, when the sound got cut off during ATrack's headliner set .....
DekoZe was DOPE on skybar, yet again for another year....
Random notes
The women that came out were looking damn good....
ppl gotta stop throwing water up in the air after every build up....
The new generation of clubbers still have not learned how to handle themselves.... as well as there hippy/80's fashon was kinda off, too much neon....
The Guv 15yr party looks better then both days of LOL put together... MY PERSONAL OPINION!
Overal i still had a great time.... Every year i say the same thing, hopefully next year's LOL will have a better line up....

Most of the people I had on my list were more excited about day 2 than day 1. I guess the main stream House/ electro is the name of the game these days.I wasn't really happy about it as I was looking forward to the main room line up on day 1 personally, but I guess the scene's changed radically these days. |
I never went this year. Im not paying for 2 days when i only wanted to go on day 1. Whoever organized LOL this year is a f***n idiot... thats all i have to say

Saturday night in the Guv was probly the best long stretch of good music I've heard there in quite awhile. Great tech house and they utilized that soundsystem perfectly, never heard it sound so crisp and tons of deep bass with no distortion. My internal organs were even saying "wtf is up?!".
KH was packed with the trance fans, only stepped in a few times to see what was up and it was hot but good. Definitely smart putting them in there as it would've been as packed as Sunday in the Guv if they were in the mainroom.
Spent some of Sunday in KH and the flow was all over. Had fun but it was pretty empty. Wasn't a huge fan of Riva's stuff on Skybar (sounded like he combined a Guetta and SHM set, that kinda cheese) but Dekoze brought some real tunes. Popped in and out of Guv for Avicii, great energy in there but mega hot for any extended periods of time. I thought it was due to empty out after Avicii ended his set but M&S kept the place pretty busy.
Overall I think everything went pretty well for the first 2 day LoL. They really put some extra thought into make it special such as fireworks both days, the regular LoL performances outside, a crane lifting one up etc etc. That's always nice to see at shows like this. Everywhere you look though there's complaints of no single day tickets so I'd say that's something that will and has to happen if they do it for 2 days next year as well. Most likely they'll release expensive single day tickets and then the same people complaining about none this year will just be complaining about the price of them next year.

I wouldn't want it any more busy anyway. |
Maybe it's the fact that I've loved trance since I was less than 10 years old, maybe its because I've never heard trance at an event before (loud and every part of your body is engaged in dancing and FEELING the gloriousness that trance is)...but I'm still triping the fuck out. Cloud maufkn 9.
Damn. \(^_^)/
farxaad, go to JOOF's party in Toronto this year if you like those feelings and sensations. It will blow your mind
(I think it should still be going on even though VOLA is no more after Rank 1, right?)

Rank 1 is indeed the last event at Vola
BUT there are 3 Trance events in October, including the JOOF Event. I shall announce the other 2 events including new location(s) very soon
