Not to say that I don't like partying with people/friends, but I just need to let it be known that I've had some of the greatest times of my life when I happened to be alone... Ibiza solo ftw!

(With all due respect of course, I love the guy!) <3 <3 <3 |

I wouldnt have it any other way
I think that is a sign of a healthy relationship, and I would take a healthy relationship with a guy who doesnt love EDM over an unhealthy, untrustworthy relationship with a guy who loves EDM.
I like doing both. Going out with friends is fun, but not when they want to leave early, start to not like the music, ect. If they want to leave, I will see them the next day. I like to do my own thing, and meet a bunch of people doing so. Usually know some people that are at the club anyway that I can rely on to be their till close. But going out with friends is also good too. Making memories can only happen for so long, and why not make the best out of the time you can spend with some people.

| Originally posted by AY STAR i understand what you mean for sure, but the traveling some people do atleast once a month to see the same dj play in a different city is def a lil strange imo and if i was in a relationship i would find that a lil disrespectfull and suspect |

| Originally posted by yankeeBaby haha thats why I leave his ass home!! (or send him off with his own friends). I actually prefer it this way. We have tons of things we can do together and still have fun, but this gives us a chance to be with our friends and go solo sometimes. Its much healthier, IMO, to have your own life, separate interests, and not be with each other 24/7. Makes the times you are around each other that much more enjoyable btw, he doesnt HATE the music per se, but he does hate clubs.....with a passion. |
A lot of people (non edm) do not understand the concept of going to a club/festival/whatever for the music/DJ.
Majority of people think clubs = instant hook ups, debauchery, orgies....

My first "date" with the BF (Rich) was at an Armin show, so...
I've done the solo thing and it was very bad news. It's just not for me. I'm glad I have Rich around so I can be irresponsible and get annoyingly hammered with only a bad hangover to show for it the next day. I've lost 75% fewer phones and 100% fewer credit cards since being with him. I couldn't lose any more dignity, so no change there.

| Originally posted by euphoria kinda the same... mine loves the music but feels that he can listen to the music anywhere and doesn't need to go to a club to enjoy it. He has had his fair share of party days but he is just done with it. He would much rather chill and home but he doesn't stop me from going out and enjoying myself. He doesn't give two shits about any dj's or who even wrote or produced the track for that matter. What matters to him is the track itself. |
yeah my BF actually jams with me to the music. He has learned well!
But I would have to pay him a large sum of money for him to get in a club, tru story. | quote: |
| Originally posted by PaulCky411 That's why you'd need to make the person understand so it doesn't come off as disrespectful... I don't think anyone besides us (legitimate EDM fans) understand what being a true fan of EDM / seeing DJs perform is really like... so if we happen to have a significant other that isn't into it like we are, we just have to ensure them that it's 100% fine if we're traveling to see a DJ / nothing out of the ordinary for us. If they're not okay with this, then obviously that person isn't worth keeping around for the long term. Anyway, that's just my .02. |

I went to Amsterdam/Rotterdam for Full on Ferry by myself and it was one of the best times I have ever had. I met so many amazing people and had an entire vacation to do whatever I wanted to do!
(Oh, and my boyfriend was totally fine with me going, no quesitons asked)

| Originally posted by acetate212 sounds like a trusting & understanding bf, not many guys would be like that. but then 9 yrs is a long time, trust should be a given by then lol. I personally would never last that long in a relationship-there are just too many other things that mean much more to me..one of the things that makes vacations so great is making new friends along the way like you did, experiencing things together with them in a foreign land. much better I think than just going with a friend of your own. kudos to you though, it's risky stuff for a girl to travel on her own. |
Personally, I dont miss out on anything being in a relationship, I still live my life the way I want it, and I have him as a supplement.
And thanks, I have had a great time travelling solo, with my man, and with my man AND my friends. Those are the best

hehe yes, some people certainly over-do it, but I guess its their life and they can do what they want with it
Although nothing is better than going out with friends and everybody is on the same page and you all have a blast, some of my most memorable nights out have been when I rolled out solo....... Oh wait "memorable" only because I stayed sober enough to get myself home. LOL. Going out solo was never an issue...... I remember one night I went to Bunker in BK for Gui Boratto and I didn't know a single person there....... It was a great night!!
solo is fun times especially if you are open to meeting people. what i loved about living in nyc is i could just go to a party and i'd run into a couple people i knew. there weren't any obligations to run on someone else's schedule.
as for fanaticism, most of us travel by car, train or plane to experience the music although only a select few take it to the next level...i say once you get a tattoo or convince yourself you are "friends" that's too far
