i think some records are more valuable than others but i think it's should be a case of the music rather than the format. the further more vinyl becomes a "rarity" dance music will go down the route of northern soul (and punk). meaning that records are valued on the basis of limitation rather than the actual music.

but i also think this is happened in electronic dance music a long time ago since yunno, a record that is only available in 5 copies is always going to have more attention than the record available in 5000 copies.

but i think the discogs marketplace is the wrong place to appraise record prises as you always going to have random ******s trying to shift bollocks for downright usurious prices.

anyhow. according to discogs my most valuable record is: ari jukka - floor funk svek #2. appraised to 30$, it's well not worth that. it's a collection of decent mid 90's type chicago house workouts.

musically, i'd rate caf de flore over that

right, but i choose the minimum price in the list for the item's condition - basically the idea is, "what's the most money might one be able to get on discogs for a record in your collection".

I mean I have records that are priceless to me purely out of sentiment or musical quality

I started this thread hoping to get a glimpse of some of the most ridiculous priced records on discogs that people own. So far that soul capsule takes the cake!

Doesn't look like there are any for sale, but this would be my most valuable record:

The Sight Below - Murmur EP [2009]

It has a nice biosphere remix, clear vinyl with black splashes.

I doubt it is worth more than what you bought it for back in 2002. I have a signed copy by Sasha. Maybe it's worth a few dollars more :P

I found some odd fluctations myself while shopping the other day. For example, you could not get James Holden's remix of Kirty Hawshaw - Fine Day for less than 20 bucks plus shipping a few years ago.

Now I see them listed for 2.99 euro. God damn. People in the eurozone must be hurting to pay bills at home. If I had the track I wouldnt sell it even to get my electricity turned back on. I'd have my turntable running on the power generated from my hamster's wheel lol

Would be nice if you could link those. Just out of curiosity.
