honestly, i don't think it looks good, but to each his own..

I better not post pix of my ULGY ass VW Jetta (it is stock).. I hate it, but it gets me where I am going and it is a car (i think SUVs are the worst thing to ever happen to the auto-industry)...

well, i will giv eu mad propz for the mods and i am sure that you like your car, 'cause that is important..

cheers

the car looks good......although you may wanna buy an extra front end cause it will get damaged one day.......

Driving down the road on a dark night and out of no where a cat lays in the middle of the road and screws it all up......

Had that happen to a friend and now he driving around town w/ no front bumper.....

You're saying your 1.8L tuned GSR engine & FWD Civic, can take a 2002 3.2L 333HP RWD M3.

I'd love to see it.

yes..i have done ...infact its thursday..race night in NY...i will probally do it again tonight...

my car is very quick off the line...and i am tlaking about 1/4 mile racing..not highway....

i have also done alot of work to my engine if u had looked u would have seen...the M3 is very slow off the line but very fast high end...so bare in mind my car is lighter then an M3, i have mwork done to my car and i know how to drive ..plus liek i said the M3 is not fast at all out of the box...

HP doesnt always mean a car is fast in the 1/4 mile....look at most Ferraris...i think the Ferrari 355 runs a high 13 second time in the 1/4 mile..something like 13.7

NOW...i know plenty of kids with Honda Civics, Integras and WRXs that will blow the doors of that...by a long shot...shit i know a guy with a Mustang who runs high 8 seconds in the 1/4 mile....

so dont think jus cus of the name and the horsepower of the car that it is generally fast in a drag race...most of those cars are built for high end racing...meaning over 70MPH..not from a dead stop down the 1/4

Ok fine, I'll get into details. Your FRONT WHEEL DRIVE Civic can take a REAR WHEEL DRIVE (6SPD Manual Tranny) M3 with 333HP @7900RPM and 262lb-ft torque @4900RPM? (1/4 in 13.5@105)

I wasn't trying to imply horsepower wins everything. I asked you if your N/A Civic can beat a 2002 M3 in the 1/4 mile.

YES it can in the 1/4 mile..not by much and i have to be driving my best...but yes i have..but i have also lost...it depends on how i drive and how the other guy drives.......i can also almost beat a Ferrari 355...i MIGHT be able to if i was running slicks..

like i said those cars are HIGH END...that 6speed tranny wont get past 4th most of the times in a 1/4 mile race...

and jus cus u READ it does high 13s..doesnt mean it actually does...those times are done by a proffesional driver not you and I...and the driver makes a HUGE difference...trust me

I am no expert, but this makes me ponder: you get into 4th gear on 400m??? (sorry i am european)

Posted by Sarcoman on Aug-22-2002 23:38:

I can completely understand the fascination of souping a car up. You have the feeling that the car is Unique, and yours alone. Tiesto14s car is no longer a Civic per se, because of the work he has done to it. It has become a completely unique car. Which is cool, if your into that sort of thing.

Personally, I dont mind import cars much, but I myself wouldnt soup my car up.

Furthermore, I think a lot of the people that mod their cars go overboard. I think if Tiesto14 did more to his car than he already did, he would be going overboard too (hence why Im glad he said no decals, cause decals are dirty). His car is a nice car, and I believe that on occasion he can beat M3s and Porches. But, give a guy with an M3 or a Porsche the same money to put into thier cars, and they would own.

Posted by Innervision on Aug-22-2002 23:39:

Just picking numbers out of the sky is very pointless. There are many factors that influence times besides the driver. For instance, temperature, air pressure, and elevation. And trust me, they make a huge difference. Why do you think your car feels faster in the morning and slower during the afternoon...this is because as temperature rises, hp falls dramatically. The same this is true with elevation...the lower it is, the more hp your engine will be able to muster. To check if you're car really is faster/slower than an M3, you should test at sealevel, 1 atm pressure, and room temperature (sorry, i forgot the exact number).

We will see.

Btw nice car.

Posted by Dmatrox on Aug-23-2002 00:06:

Thumbs up

nice car. Why did you remove the emblem from the back of the car btw? Is it because people would steal it? I know someone that had their accord's honda emblem stolen twice.

Posted by neo geo on Aug-23-2002 00:57:

funny no pic of the engine yet he has all sorts of moods done to it
and where is the roll cage i dont see one in those pics

Posted by Mark on Aug-23-2002 01:38:

good work on the civic. forget what people say. so its a honda. like we 'supe' up cars to satisfy other people (atleast i don't). the ride is real low though. that thing would get inspected so bad by our cops if you were here.

got a pic of your b18c1?

sometimes we do this because it looks cleaner without them.

the roll cage was put in 2 months ago and those pictures are from the Fall..if u really need proof of a roll cage i can take a picture...i mean WHY would i lie...a roll cage is a very simple add on..not much to it...nothing special as far as looks...to be honest i dont liek the way it looks...only reason i added it was for handling purposes..thats it..

no pics of engine./..but again if u need them i can take them...but again what would that proove?..the majority of the work i have done to my engine is internal..which a pic can't show you...yes u would see an intake, fuel rail, manifold and chrome pieces...but wont see real mods because they are inside the head and the such...

but again i can take them...

also if u notice i dont have rims in the daytime pictures...so if i jus posted those would u say i didnt have rims?...lol i have no reason to lie about what i have done...so jus cus its not in the picture means nothing...prime example rims in top pic..no rims in bottom...

I haven't read this entire thread, but seems like someone "thinks" they know something about racing. How much hp/torque do you claim from your mods??? In 1/4 mile racing, torque is more important that hp. Obviously, the more torque, the more hp... but most Jap cars(Honda/Acura) are all top end power. Yea, you get to it by winding thru the gears, but if you can reach your peak hp/torque at lower rpms, you're not waiting to achieve your motor's potential. Also, 1/4 mile is mostly about the driver. It's about reaction time, 60 ft. times, and knowing your car's ability and streangths. I will look into the original post by Tiesto, and see what he's got under the engine. I don't see you beating any Ferrari's, and you certainly have nothing on my Audi.

u cant resist starting flame wars with me can you?

i cant claim anythign yet...i dont like to CLAIM ...i will wait till i get my T3/T4 Turbonetics Turbo put in next month...then after it's put in the shop thats doing it has a DYNO machine....and if you know ANYTHING about cars..you will know that the only way to know EXACTLEY how much power your putting to the ground is through a DYNO test..because that shows how much HP and TQ hits your wheels after it passes the flywheel and all that crap...

so i wont guess.....

yes that's true to extent..but THE WHOLE is greater then the SUM of its PARTS...it's NOT just TQ..but TQ plays the most important role in hardcore power...but its not that cut and dry.

well in the 1/4 mile i have never raced a Ferrari..however Ferraris and Lamborghinis tend to be "slower" in the 1/4 because they are high end cars...like i said..i beleive the 2000 355 ran a high 13 1/4 mile time...and Diablos USED to run low 14's.. which is not impressive at all in the 1/4...

and i know my best time ever on slicks at English Town Raceway was 13.865..dont remember the reaction time...so going by that i can say that beating a high 13 second Ferrari is not very difficult...

and after my turbo is put it i SHOULD be running mid to low 12's

i dont know anything about your Audi...and i never said i could beat it...

anyway i am more into handling then dragging my car....i would much rather take it to a course and hit the curves any day...thats why if you look at my suspension mods i have completley redone every suspension component so that my car handles to its fullest potential...

and u say u looked at my mods....and try and flame by acting like i dont know anything about cars...LOL...then why dont u tell me some answers to soem questions...lets test your skills

1. Whats a "port and polish" mean?
2. Where is nitrous sprayed into?
3. Whats borring?
4. Whats "turbo lag"?
5. If your car doesnt have a "header" what does it have?

theres soem questions for you...lets see what you know...dont test me dude and dont start flame wars....

Tiesto14 is correct in some of what he says. It is possible for a civic to beat a stock M3. I have seen Civics run even high 8 second quarter miles. I've actually owned a 525i and after that a souped up honda accord ex. The difference in curb weight is actually enormous. Especially after u strip down a honda. Of course, Hondas don't have the comfort level a BMW does but, if your racing I dont think u really care how comfortable u are. Torque is also important as someone said before but, what Hondas lack in torque they more than make up in RPM. Tiesto14, i don't know how u drive in that thing in NYC with that enormous drop. I dropped my Accord 2.5 inches and ended up bending my TSW Hockenheims and reraised the car and switched to 16"s. Unless u are reraising the car with your coilovers before drive into the city. Great job on the car though. I'd imagine u are looking for more power though. Go nitrous or look at a turbo. I freakin got bitch slapped by a bitch slapped on Rt4 here in jersey by Civic running a T3/T4 turbo with front mounted intercooler.

Posted by Elysium on Aug-23-2002 06:34:

hey tiesto 14, no i haven't been up to nanuet yet. Whats goes on there sunday? street racing? I usually race whereever. Garden state parkway, turnpike, Hudson parkway is always fun. Last time i raced i went up against a Integra GSR and Maxima SE when i had my Accord coming abck from NYc. I was able to hit 128 across the bridge before my rev limiter cut in . I recently got a prelude so maybe i'll soup that up. Been looking at superchargers but they are mad expensive. Damn man if u dont raise te car, how the hell do u go to the ATM lol!!!

i want those wheels lol
cause i can only afford 17's in this country and would love 18's but they like twice the price of 17's which i find totally annoying.
anyways nice car !!! like the interior , this is just a comment but dont u think it wouldve been better to do it to a 3 door civic instead of a 5door? just a comment but i suppose americans like big cars
