michigan ave......aka magnificent mile....armani and those stores like it

yeah, just jet up and down michigan ave, lots of options for shopping there. but extremely overpriced.

there's a few good shops on the perimeter, but you'll have to cab it 15-20 mins.

Also Uncle John's Barbeque in Park Manor looks really good

Can someone from Chi-town chime in? Saw both on Bizarre Foods

Franks and Dawgs is great. It's the less cool but better tasting Hot Doug's. Hot Doug's duck fat fries are the real deal though.

http://www.akirachicago.com/ Akira Men on North Avenue (or Diversey, not sure where you'll be staying) has my favorite selection of clothes in the city outside of the big stores (nordstrom / sak's / bloomingdales / etc ...)

He's not a douche, don't point him to Chicago's guido mecca.

Again, Wicker Park and Lakeview have wonderful local clothing stores.

I've found quite a few better burgers without the headache / hype. It's good, don't get me wrong, but waiting 2 hours during the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday? No thanks.

Violet Hour (cocktails) is a pretty cool place.

One of them is Paramount Room. Go for the $10 Kobe burger / pint of beer. Get the tempura green beans with it. Thank me later.
