Good point. I should have thought of that.

There is something to be said for having industry standard equipment, especially if you plan on working with several different people. It's a lot easier to export a project in it's native format vs. having to find something both programs can export. That's not so much an issue with sound I suppose, but I've certainly run into it with video. However, that does tend to breed elitism for some reason. Much worse than just brand loyalty. It's like facebook, it really sucks, but everyone uses it so until something better comes along you're kind of stuck if you want to play the game.

they are not industry standards. And they were cheap speakers so Iwouldn't say it is elitist. You also can't buy them anymore.

I'm trying to roll my eyes hard enough to see the back of my head. Should I keep trying?

i don't know, depends on when you took those pills.

Which part of what I said are you not hip to ?

they are not a standard. 20 years ago you could make that claim.
They don't sell them anymore. They were consumer grade speakers and were quite cheap to buy. Yes they sell NS 10s to idiots that think they are similar to the original models which they aren't. They sound completely different. They stopped making them years ago.

UNless you were talking only about protools which begs the question, what the fuck are you doing this thread.

Apparently my elitist sarcasm didn't come across. I should have used a smiley for teh internets.

Chill out, man. You'll get brain bubbles.

No...you can get pairs of NS10's off of ebay.

You can buy the HS50m's as well...With the gain control settings you can get pretty much equivalent frequency response curves.

I ended up nabbing a pair of HS50m's off of ebay for 50 bucks...quite happy with them to say the least.

If you run the mid trim +2db and high trim -2db, you should get something quite similar to the ns10, and they look sexier.
