this mix has some really beautiful moments, I love the tempo and vibe of the whole set, so drugged out...

they delivered imo

Posted by jon jon on Oct-23-2011 19:56:

I also love the Industry Nightclub shoutout at the 70 min mark, respect!

I agree man. Midway through and it's already received a massive "delivered" verdict on my side.

Sidenote: the "essential" repeat at 46.00 actually sounded quite dope coming in... haha. So dark.

I've listened to the set in full at least 5 times already

the biggest track for me is at the 14 min mark (I think it's the 3rd track in the set), what a record!

the whole set is a masterclass in programming, and it's really reminded me why the Essential Mix is such a sick series

where is J Butts in this thread? thought you'd be all over this

Posted by rulzz on Oct-26-2011 02:29:

meh ....

Great set. Very creative and well thought out. One of the best I've heard from them. I can understand why a lot of people wouldn't like it because it's pretty different from status quo of dance music, but I think it's for this reason that they are gaining quite a following of people from people who frequent scenes outside of the traditional EDM scene. It's got a lot of cross-scene appeal.

This will be getting several more listens from me for sure.

Well done boys.

Heard the first 10-12 minutes the other day but getting a chance to finally listen to this in its entirety now.

BTW...am I the only one that just doesn't like Kenny G's vocals? Eg the first track on their EM. I'd like the track a lot more without his vocals. Something so monotonous about them...

I was gonna say actually that I think the song I like the least is the very first... it's like a bad melange of "tell me why" and "without u"

ya dude

also a big "holy fuck" moment is at the end when the "James Blake - Limit To Your Love" remix unfolds... epic finale style

Posted by geroin on Oct-26-2011 05:58:

i like some tracks but i dont like the way the set starts and progresses..

Posted by infinity HiGH on Oct-26-2011 06:08:

My fav tune so far is the one where they give a shout out to Industry. Love the way they mix into it (the way the tempo and intensity of the set builds with it)

as jon jon would say this is some "next level shit"

Posted by geroin on Oct-26-2011 06:41:

you have to give it to them though, they have invented their own style/niche sound and even though sometimes i dont enjoy their vocals it does have some originality to it. some great tracks in the set but i found that the second part of the set would probably work better if it was reversed with the first part as it starts on a harder note and it reaches the end with slower groovier music and some nice older track edits. I also didn't like some of their popular tracks being in the set, i was hoping that they would try to include more unknown material that they may have been working prior to that but i guess something is in the works but not completed (although last track was a promo for a couple of minutes), overall a great set i will have to give it another through listen, only listened twice so far.

Enjoyed the set and will be giving it another few listens for sure! Wish they played Tell Me Why or Without You (I know it's dated now) instead of Touch You Gently

It was very nice to not hear a 'tech' sound, which we have been over run with, for the last few years. There is quite a bit of melody which was a nice change.

I was thinking something similar while listening.

Overall, I wasn't a fan of the mix, in that I probably would not listen to it again and again. It felt a lot like back ground music, rather than something I actively listened to.

The vocals were killing me, so...many...bad...vocals.... They seriously need a dub mix of "Art Department Touch You Gently".

Love this part too.

My favourite part though is around the 45 min mark when they layer Green Velvet - Thoughts and Metro Area - Caught Up.

It sounds like a mind-mending, ass-shaking, electro version of I Beat that Bitch With a Bat.

Eat your heart out Richie Hawtin, who says layering two tracks at one time isn't creative.

Brand spankin' new video for I C U

I really enjoyed the set, although I prefer their Sonar 2011 live set in Barcelona.
