New York, NY: At around 6 AM on November 15, 2011, attorneys associated with the New York City Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild working as the Liberty Park Legal Working Group obtained a temporary restraining order against the City of New York, various City agencies, and Brookfield properties directing that occupiers be allowed back on the premises with their belongings.

Earlier, at approximately 1 AM, the NYPD began massing around Zuccotti Park aka Liberty Park. In the following hours reports surfaced that the NYPD entered the park with police in riot gear backed up by numerous police vehicles, including a bulldozer, evicting occupiers. In the process they destroyed property and arrested dozens of occupiers and protestors including NYC Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez and District Leader Paul Newell.

In the coming hours, days and weeks the LPLWG will pursue all legal options to enable the occupiers to continue to exercise their first amendment rights to speech and assembly for speech. Attorney Yetta Kurland, one of the attorneys from the LPLWG, said, This is a victory for everyone who believes in the First Amendment. We will continue to fight for everyones right to continue the occupation. In response to the injunction, Daniel Alterman, also an attorney with the LPLWG, stated that, This is a victory for all Americans, for the constitution and for the 99%. Gideon Oliver, another attorney with the LPLWG reacted by saying, The LPLWG has been fighting to ensure their right to free speech from day one of the occupation. The occupiers right to free speech is based in our most core legal principles and we will be here till the end to fight for those rights.

sonic weaponry;

it's a super low frequency weapon designed for dispersing crowds, first used in iraq. let me dig around and find a link for more info.

edit;

The U.S. DOD has demonstrated phased arrays of infrasonic emitters. The weapon usually consists of a device that generates sound at about 7 Hz. The output from the device is routed (by pipes) to an array of open emitters. At this frequency, armor and concrete walls and other common building materials allow sound waves to pass through, providing little defense.[8] This presents logistic problems regarding operation of infrasonic weaponry without exposing operating personnel to the potentially damaging effects.

Some common bio-effects of electromagnetic or other non-lethal weapons include effects to the human central nervous system resulting in physical pain, difficulty breathing, vertigo, nausea, disorientation, or other systemic discomfort. Interference with breathing poses the most significant, potentially lethal results. Light and repetitive visual signals can induce epileptic seizures (see Bucha effect). Vection and motion sickness can also occur. Cavitation, which affects gas nuclei in human tissue, and heating can result from exposure to ultrasound and can cause damage to tissue and organs.

Really? They won't just be a drain on public taxes? They won't in fact detract from the funds that the public educational system draws upon on a state-by-state basis? They won't merely severely inconvenience the hordes of (gainfully employed) commuter traffic that small business hubs rely upon for peon commerce? Are you in fact implying that, in the end, THE VERY COMPANIES AND GOVERNMENT POLICIES THE OCCUPY MOVEMENT SEEK TO COMMENT ON WILL NOT PUBLICLY FORK OVER THEIR BAILOUT CASH, NOR THEIR PROFITS SINCE THEN, IN SOME FAUX-EGALITARIAN ATTEMPT AT TEMPORARILY APPEASING THE OBVIOUSLY EXPENDABLE THRONGS OF STOLID MASSES?

Or is the Occupation movement merely wishing that somebody - anybody - would once more MAKE A MARKET OF THEM? Oh, I bet that's it. Please, somebody, sell me a revolution!

Apparently journalists from NPR and the Times were arrested. One NY Post reporter was put in a choke-hold.
