when you call my name it's like a little prayer
All 4 of mine were taken at around 19yrs old. The surgeon removed two per surgery one side at a time. They weren't bothering me at all, but the dentist said when they grow in they may begin to shift other teeth overtime so it's best to remove.
I got all four of my wisdom teeth before I was 18. ALl of them neatly and straight down, but had one removed when I was in the military when I got a cavity, Lol, the tooth was so hard to pull that I had to move my arm from the armrest so the dentist could put her feet on it to pull it out. Good times.
Had one of mine out last month. Freakin' agony. All done under local; just brute force and wrenching the tooth out.
The reason for having it out was that when I opened my mouth to brush, the bone blocked the area where I needed to brush so eventually it would've got worse anyway. Now it's out, I can brush around the other tooth easily.

i had 5 (yes) taken out when i was 13ish?
Not everyone needs theirs removed. My dad still has his, and he's in his mid 50's. They just never gave him any problems. Same goes for me, though I've had other teeth pulled.
i had six of taken out all in one time. felt good
