Maybe I am just self-absorbed.

Or maybe the problem isn't your interpretation, but that - again - people just aren't personally aware?

For example, I was talking to this dude the other night and he asked how old I was. I told him, and in return asked his age. He told me he was 34, but looked downwards and away from me when he said it - indicating to me that he was ashamed of how old he was. So I called him on it and he was all like "NUH UH I DON'T CARE ABOUT MY AGE!" But then I pointed out what his non-verbal communication said and he was like "Well ok, maybe a little."

I'm generally an optimist about people, but really so many people have no congruence between what they say and what they project...and they truly have no idea.

I dunno, when shit doesn't add up I just call people on it, lol. I'm not usually wrong.

Yeah, pretty much. Women are inscrutable to me! Then again, maybe I have little practice reading those signals because they are not sent very often. I am not very attractive.

BUNCH OF SOCIAL LEPERS. FUCK ALL OF YOU.

it isn't a skill, just pay attention. I look like a paki, chicks just dig me because I'm tall

You're this astoundingly clairvoyant sexual psychic! The cross between Dr. Ruth and John Edward. I'm sensing a consonant with an eee sound, like P, D, C, or V.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Dec-06-2011 18:30:

Laboratory reasoning. People are an amalgam of different faces that they project to different people in different circumstances. You cannot empathize with mere verbal cues (which can obviously be telling, don't get me wrong) and then surmise such a powerful emotion of self-esteem; that's incongruent.

So-called "sexual intelligence" is a powerful tool of confirmation bias; You expect confirmation, and this runs laterally with the correlation between confidence and sexual promiscuity/prowess.

Did you read a psychology book?

Posted by Silky Johnson on Dec-06-2011 18:31:

What the fuck, where in any of my posts did I indicate it was a special skill or had anything to do with psychic intuition? It's all stuff that is right in front of your fucking face, that ANY moron can and should be able to pick up on. All you need is your five fucking senses for fuck's sake.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Dec-06-2011 18:32:

YOU SAID IT RIGHT FUCKING HERE:

SEE HOW YOU USED THE WORDS "SPECIAL TRICK". FUCK, PAY ATTENTION!

You're an idiot Hal. Really.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Dec-06-2011 18:35:

My general misogyny leads me to disbelieve any claims of intuition from women. Most often, I am correct as fuck, but only because I want to see it as such.

By the way I had sex 14 hours ago. I came twice - the second time was on her bumpy nipples. Ka-pow.

Posted by Moral Hazard on Dec-06-2011 18:37:

I have to agree with Jenny and Jay here. It isn't very difficult to pick up on the cues if you know what to look for... micro expressions, body language (angle, positioning, phisiological reactions), behaviours (preening, mimicry, etc), intonation, etc. Granted, I'm a trained investigator but really just being observant of others during interactions rather than being a conversational narcissist and you should be able to pick this shit up with ease.

Jenny, Jay... we should make-out

call me

Oh dread! My greatest secret has been revealed by the intuitive acuity of Miss Pie! She must be right because she feels it!

Posted by Silky Johnson on Dec-06-2011 18:37:

I like that, in your small mind, you assumed that because I was talking about sexual vibes I must have been talking about vibes put out (or not) by members of the opposite sex - when in fact, the people i have suspected of being asexual are mostly women.

Please, highlight the parts of my posts that indicate I was talking about intuition. Because I used the words "pick up on"?

Stupid.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Dec-06-2011 18:39:

Did you assume I assumed that by the body language I am putting off right now? Be honest.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Dec-06-2011 18:40:

No, I assumed it because you're stupid.

I wasn't aware you knew Mrs. Hazard.

But paying attention is a skill you have to develop!

This is precisely what I'm trying to say: You need to know what to look for... if you don't, and I defend that men more often than women do not in fact know what to look for, then you're illiterate and miss most hints.

It's no coincidence that Brian says he's like that and that I'm claiming I used to be the same way. Women are more social, to my knowledge, so they pick these things up faster... but that doesn't mean guys are all self-absorbed egotists that live like hermits in isolation from the outer world.

Funny timing of this thread though, cause my hairdresser and I just had this conversation about a mutual friend when I was getting my hurrr done last week, lol. She was like "Do you think that Xxxxx is a lesbian??" and I had actually always thought she was just really asexual. I mean, this girl has been in relationships and fucked people, but it seems like she did it just cause that's what people are supposed to do, not because she was actually into it. Lulz.
