Let me just get one thing straight, if i overclock it and it overheats whats gonna happen? Is it just gonna freeze or totally break? Cheers again. |
So tranzmit, have you not overclocked your multiplier?
Cheers again for the help, its greatly apreciated.

The word shit springs to mind, i accidentenly reset with the FSB set at 166 and now its tottally fucked, when i switched it on, it started but the screen never came on. I reset the CMOS but now it just beeps when you switch it on, have i nuked the ram do ya think? Is it possible it could be anything else? I mean does the FSB affect how fast like the graphics card is running?
running it at 166? thats crazy!! your cpu would be running at 2241 instead of 1800 and thats way too much. You should be ok it just can't start at that speed! Pull out the cmos battery for about a minute to completely clear the cmos then put it back in. Did you change the fsb in the bios or by using jumper switches on the board?
Try starting it now and pray it's ok. Usually it just can't even turn on at speeds like that so it beeps. Remove all your extra cards as well and just keep the video card in and try that. If all else fails you'll have to return it and hope they take card of the problem for you.
Now see why i told you to read up before you went and fiddled with it. You've got to know as much as possible before you overclock these machines due to all the variables involved with these things. Yes it overclocked your ram as well as the stuff on pci bus from 266 to 333 which is a big overclock for all your peripherals. I run at 280 fsb but nowhere near 333. Comprende now?
oh if you need to return it tell them you just started it up and it didn't boot, no you didn't play around with it or you won't get any support from them guaranteed
cheer up!! You're on the path to learning
Its ok, i wiped the cmos and left it a day then it suddenly started working again. Scary shit tho, iv now got the FSB up so it runs at 1850MHz, i cant put it ne higher coz it wont boot up on the next step which is an FSB of 145. Cheers for the help tho.
