I don't have much in the way of family left, I've got an aunt, uncle and 2 cousins that looked after me when I moved over here in 1990 after my gran passed away in England.
Got a half-sister in SA that I haven't spoken to since about 2002, a handful of cousins and their kids in the north west of England and that's about it. Everyone else has passed on.

The french have rubbish milk but they do make up for it with their cheeses and pastry's that are really good, compared to most Aust and NZ cheeses which are sort of average-meh. They aren't as terrible as US cheese and some white crap in a bottle pretending to be milk, I don't know what they do to it over there but its unholy.

Think I've managed to avoid most of the chain-restaurants when I could when travelling, nearly died from Taco Bell in NY. Though I think the majority of McD's and the like probably still rate over most things in Scotland that has a national cuisine speciality of 'not-food'

my sister in law has a thing for this processed cheese that basically looks like plastecine and has the same taste I believe. It's fucking gross. Pretty sure you could grow colonies on it.

French cuisine is awesome although I saw on tv this place in spain and it's mindblowing. http://www.cellercanroca.com/CUINA/menus_2.htm
Some of the stuff, esp desserts is molecular gastronomy & it looks great when done well.

ive had mcdonalds in canada, usa, italy, hong kong and china. they all tasted a little different. i think mcdonalds in canada tastes the best, especially the fries.

ive had KFC in canada, usa and hong kong. i think it tastes best in hong kong. chicken, in general, tastes sooooooo much better in hong kong.

and, obviously, ive had coca-cola in various countries. while there are slight differences its not enough to comment on.

That is the best redbull. I knew a store owner in my area that had his family ship it to him from Thailand. I use to buy cases of it from him. So much better for mixing with vodka.

Australian meat, in general, has way more flavour than nearly any I had in the UK, as well. I'm talking supermarket/butcher bought meat though, not so much restaurant grade stuff.

Fanta in the UK is awful compared to here. Very different. And Coke in the US tastes weird, but that's probably because they use HFCS and not real sugar.

You are a fucking retard.

They tried making Mountain Dew here in Norway, but it just didn't taste as good, so they stopped making it.
Only import stores/kiosks have it, and there's none in Trondheim

Actually, Pizza Hut in Japan was quite good, Saizeria was all right, and "CostCo" had by far the best pizza I ate there because it had so much cheese not even Tiesto could rival that.

But, as a rule of thumb, I agree with you. Ate the worst pizza of my life in Nagoya - it just had three minuscule slices of cheese on top of the bread for 30 dollars. Damn fancy Asian restaurants

An alcoholic beverage tastes best on the Mediterranean.

Soft drinks and fast food taste like shit everywhere.

i've read an interesting article that basically described the phenomenon we're discussing in this thread. apparently asian countries, and some european to an extent (although US is focusing on changing this) aren't so hellbent to fit as much HF corn syrup into everthing that's produced and hence why the taste is different. i think the sugar levels are lower in products in Japan, than they are here. that's why soft drinks taste different.

Cocacola in macedonia sucks compared to the US. I think they use a different sugar.

...but the mcdonald's in macedonia is AWESOME. They have kit-kat, smartie, strawberry, and blueberry mcflurrys! On top of that they sell donuts lol.

And the sandwiches... you have no idea... they are AMAZING, especially one called the McFresh. BEST MCDONALDS SANDWICH EVER.

Oh I made a stop in italy too, didn't try mcdonalds there cuz its insanely expensive in the airport but here's the menu:

While I was in Atlanta, I got to visit the World of Coke and taste the different drinks Coca-Cola offers in different countries. Italy offers a drink called Beverly that tastes like non-alcoholic Gin and Tonic, made with stomach bile instead of Gin.

That explains quite a lot. It's funny because, being Brazilian, unless something induces diabetes in small doses, it's not really sweet enough for me... so it really bothered me how everything there seemed to have no sugar.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-21-2011 17:08:

KFC is so much better in America than in the UK it isn't even funny. So much better. It's not just the meat tastes different, the meals themselves and the sides are all radically different, and superior.

Scandinavian countries have sexy Cola. Too bad it's expensive.

my cock tastes more bitter in Africa.

Posted by malek on Dec-22-2011 05:31:

Big conglomerates like Kraft, or Coca Cola for example have a different recipe for every country/plant, local ingredients/produce are different from one place to the other, it's only normal that the final product differs too.

BUT, the catch is that these companies also fine tune recipes to match local tastes.
