The crowd is way more irritating than anywhere else i've been. UMF seems to have so many kids in there who have no idea how to behave and it can be quite overwhelming sometimes.

Last year Underworld and Chemical Brothers were excellent experiences at the main stage (the only acts i went to see there) because the kids didnt know who they were thus there was a lot of space to spare. Same with Trentemoller and Royksopp. I guess my point is if your taste is different from the kids (which i believe you do) i think you're going to be allright.

For example I believe UMF saturday will be pretty epic because Sven Vath will be leading the Cocoon stage and I think it wont really attrack the target audience. Which is perfect! More room for me.

Perfectly said. The kids are just that, kids. They are too young to know what is what.

I'm 22 and i think i fall in the "kid" age range lol. But I hate that shit people my age are into. SHM, Skrillex, Steve Aoki, etc. not my cup of tea. I'm excited to see Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, New Order, and Kraftwerk for the first time!

Haha, hell no. It's all ages festival so I was meaning the range of 16-20 with few individual exceptions of course. Mainly the difference isn't age at all, its whether your mature enough or not.

Fuck that kandi shit. I was literally shocked when i saw that the first time.

there's definitely good and bad things about UMF. i went just once in 2010.

it definitely has more of a 'wow' factor that eZoo (which it should, as it's been around longer). the production is incredible and the space/size is at least 3 times bigger than eZoo.

the main reason i didnt go back, as said before, is that too much of the majority of people are younger kids who are basically annoying as hell. push around rudely, suck on lollipops and scream for the shitty DJs we wish weren't here. it got very crowded, the bathrooms were a mess and the food was uber expensive.

on the other hand, they do bring in a bit of great DJs. it's miami, it's WMC and it's a great spot so there is that unique feeling in the air. i wouldn't be against suggesting to check it out once. i really hate that they did away with 1 day tickets, though.

Repost from Florida thread:

While I like to sh*t on Ultra as much as anybody else for its execution, crowds, and such...... I still hold the opinion that if somebody has never been before and is contemplating it, then it is well worth checking out at least once. I am actually somewhat impressed with the initial lineup release this year. I think it would be quite the experience to see Kraftwork live. Add to that New Order, Vath, Fatboy, etc..... and you've got a good mix of legendary names this time around. Not to mention, the Carl Cox tent is an experience in itself and I've always thought the best reason to attend.

Now with all that said, I will not be purchasing a ticket unless Daft Punk gets announced on Phase 2. Since I don't see that happening, I feel hundreds of dollars will be much better spent elsewhere on those days. I've got my fingers crossed that the setup is the same as last year so we can catch Kraftwork on the main stage from our condo.

I agree here. It's an experience to have at least once. However, after that, the club parties are where it's at.

Last year, on the first night of Ultra, Markus Schulz, Wippenberg, and another big DJ I can't remember the name of played in a different club. I can guarentee that would have been 10x better than Ultra.

damn, dude you just made my day.. I had no idea Knife Party are a couple of dudes from Pendulum... I share your sentiments about dubstep, but I really dig Pendulum and to know they will appear in one shape or form at Ultra made it now so much better because initially I was disappointed that Pendulum wasn't announced for Ultra 2012, lol.

I am returning to the WMC after missing 2010 and 2011. I will at the very least be there for the weekend. I am excited

CLR party was incredible last year. It was just enough people, nice escape from the crowded house parties.

+1 to Anjuna being a waste. It was the night before Ultra and the kids were so completely annoying. Shoving, sloppy, feet stomping. Most of the DJs played basically the same craptastic set. Bar was slow as fuck like it was everyones first time. Sound was utter shit, entry was a clusterfuck. Sunday School was the same space and was 1000x better in every way.

Last year we stayed at the Shelborne and they had most of the best pool parties and we had unlimited re-entry so alcohol was basically free. Beers where expensive as fuck so I'd sip one for a while, go up and take a shot, go back down and baby another beer etc. I noticed a lot of people snuck in the little airplane bottles though as there's not re-entry for non-guests and it's a long day to keep the buzz going.

Other advice, if you see a pool party for $5 a few days ahead and you're not quite sure if you're going to go, just buy the ticket. I've seen them go from $5 to $30 overnight and people feeling like idiots for sitting on it.

Finally, earplugs. Pretty sure last WMC is where my tinnitus started. You think you're hearing is fine until it isn't. No going back.

A&B WMC party being run by.. ultra.

My recommendations regarding Miami are the following;

#1. Don't got to Ultra any day but the ASOT day. It's certainly a fun time, but the club parties in Miami that week are SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER.

THAT is a bumper sticker you should take with you en route to Miami in March, and after 8 years of Ultra, WMC, Pool Parties and Danny T's Marathon Sets at Space, its the greatest advice I could ever give as well.

Posted by EverythingDance on Jan-14-2012 05:52:

dont miss the lil stuff

One of my finest times before the break up of WMC and Ultra on different dates, was being so exhausted and mentally drained and physically beat up, just body beat up, from a long flight and then weds night and thurs 14 hour party at a club, I completely missed ULTRA and had tickets, because the dj's at the clubs, tiny venues were EPIC...highlight was the Radio 1 party and STeve Lawler did a set with James Z and Timo Maas ended it and it was just perfect. Perfect and Paulo Mojo I saw at a tiny venue and, from someone who has been there many, many times, done the old FUCK me IM famous passes and the way back SPACE PASS, they used to hole punch it for the week when PVD, TIESTo, DEEP DISH and DANNY T would do a THURS-SUNDAY deal, but I avoid those heathen, bottle serviced, plastic surgery laden, guido pumping, girls not knowing Derrick May from the MayFlower places like Mansion and whatever that ASSHOLE laden place where the old crowbar used to be where Ferry had his release party a few years back? Pathetic.

But like others have said, never done Ultra, gotta do it once. But if you concentrate just on ULTRA, and it is epic, your missing out on talent that literally could be like playing in your living room.

Yup. I also have to thank Guetta for clearing out the area during his set, right before Chem Bros. I and my group pretty much walked up after his set ended and walked up to the front of the stage.
