lol whao whoa whoa now buddy nice delivery

alright i thought of some possibilities

a big dinosaur has found its way into our timeline, i don't know how it would have done that though

the earth is saying neat stuff with bizarre tones

successful cloning of a tyrannosaurus rex...a big one

...

but yea the editor sampled this from war of the worlds, the new version

that is some nice reverberation..does not sound like fruity loops integrated reverbation

..

i will amuse u for the sake of amusing myself

its machinery because organic is absurd , culd be conventional machinery probably not

how the same sound would b heard around the planet i dono i definitely dono the answer to that question

...

all n all i would say that it is a fine example of the limitless possibilities of post editing

Most of these videos that are surfacing are shot in high quality (i.e. like 1080). If this was trurly real, you'd get more videos of crap quality and stuff.

I say Cloverfield 2.

Posted by CMR on Jan-19-2012 18:06:

Definitely Cloverfield.

If this is a viral marketing campaign for a movie, this is fuckin genius and the person or persons who came up with it deserve an award.

I'll bet it's something like that. Most of the videos posted have the same sound, not all, but most. There's definitely some fakery going on here. I'll bet if you'd overlay all the audio tracks together, you'd see the waveforms will be an almost dead on match.

One thing that DOES check out is that it was thunderstorming in New Orleans on 30 Sep 2011. I looked it up.

Sounds like something out of Final Fantasy.

Amazing! This is THE coolest. Holy crap. Right on.

I hope it's these friendly things creating such a ruckus:

Or at least something equally as badass.

They did similar stuff before Cloverfield. Fake reports of monsters attacking oil rigs with video and everything. It was really cool. I always said the ads were way better than the movie. They really should create a new Oscar category for best ad campaign.

Gotta give credit where it's due, though, Blair Witch started this trend and did it very well. I saw it the first night it came out and I was freaking scared. And I grew up watching horror flicks.

Totally agree. I think its some sort of viral marketing campaign.

Tres weird. They actually had people come in from Environment Canada to do testing. It was a huge deal in Windsor before I left b/c they have no idea what's causing it.

So no, I won't be adding to the "fake" or "movie hype" stuff.

In all fairness, Eric, I think most people just assume anything you link is going to be of a *******/lemonparty type nature.

Blair Witch sucked so bad it made my head spin with dissapointment. Same thing with Paranormal Activity.

My head spins with disappointment that you would compare the two. Paranormal Activity was a watered down rip-off of Blair Witch.

To be fair, the impact of Blair Witch varies a lot depending on whether you saw it right when it came out after an excellent, trend-setting ad campaign, versus having seen it significantly after. I don't fault anyone from the latter group who thought less of it.

Thanks to my mom I've been watching scifi and horror for decades. That movie was lame from my point of view. I guess I've been desensitized to an extent.
