Ok so for the people that don't live with their parents and don't share their vehicles and insurance costs - how much is your insurance? Lol.

no im not, as i said the other day, i already paid for my insurance for the year long before i graduated college.

and my laugh wasnt about any of that, the posts just came quicker then i could make mine so it got a bit delayed. I was just laughing at where the thread went, first page everyone actually giving insurance rates... second everyone bitching at each other

In Florida, you need a car to hold a job. That's how bad the public transportation system is down here. When it comes time to cut expenses to put food on table, certain things that should be obtained are not going to be. Health insurance, car insurance, etc.

It's not called being stupid; it's called being poor, bitch.

Annoyingly with how insurance works for dependents it costs my dad the same amount of money as it did when I was on it, and it costs me $200 a month (fuuuh).

this is why people leave the c0r,
there is plenty of negativity out there to find
without having to come to a forum to find it.

Of course it's stupid if you don't know how to prioritize your basic necessities and budget your money accordingly. Stupid.

TBH Jenny he probably is in a shit situation down there. Florida really blows on public transport, especially if you are outside major urban area.

I'm driving a lease from my job, no hassle about insurance whatsoever

Doesn't change the fact that he's stupid.

Oh, no doubt, the fact that he has canadian citizenship but lives in Florida explains a lot too.

I pay 98$ a month, roughly $1176 a year
2M$ liability
45k km per year
0$ deductible
full comprehensive
depreciation protection for the first 5 years

2011 Mazda CX-7 (AWD turbo model)

Insurance provider - TD with the Professional Engineer discount

pie if you are in the market for a new provider, TD is excellent. I had a small incident a year and a half ago where my 2010 mazda 3 became the victim of a bad site meeting with a contractors F-350 (needless to say, while the truck came out the victor, the little mazda three took his rear axle off as a trophy) TD had a rental car waiting for me at the collision center when i arrived with the tow truck and i had my settlement in hand 30 days later (which was 6k more than i originally paid for the car because they no longer offered the options and features i had on my 2010 mazda3 GS so they had to pay me the cost of a 2011 mazda 3 GT). The rental car was covered by insurance for the month that i waited for my settlement and when i bought the CX7\-7, my insurance premiums dropped from around 125 a month to 98 a month.......

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-21-2012 18:30:

Yup, I'm going through TD, as per the recommendation of Moral Hazard.

Says the guy who lives in his parents' basement?

I could never take you seriously.

Oh hai. I'm in this category. Imagine that.

I pay 600 bucks for 6 months. A little high imo, but not too horrible.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-21-2012 18:45:

100 bucks a month sounds pretty good to me. I'll be paying 1593.96 yearly, or 132.83 a month. $500 deductible and a bunch of other shit. Roadside assistance, the value of the car in the same as mine year if I total mine, some kind of accident forgiveness or something (this was all over the phone so I don't remember the particulars - my car isn't actually here/I don't have the VIN number so I'm not officially insured yet), for a 2012 VW Golf 2.5L. I haven't been insured in about 8 years and this is my first time being insured as primary owner/driver.

At which point does one's rates begin to go down?

from my experience they dont usually go down on their own, but after 6 months you can basically reapply with your same company or another and you tend to get lower rates, same thing happened for my friend when it was his first time being insured as a primary. now after a year and a half and basically signing up for insurance 3 dif times his rates are about 400 a year less.

It's 25 here. A lot of companies lower your rates based on how long you go without getting any tickets or in any accidents.

Posted by colonelcrisp on Feb-21-2012 18:53:

from experience, when you write off your first car when you were the primary insurer lol!

it also goes down wehn you turn 25, and it depends on the kind of car you drive and its safety rating.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-21-2012 18:58:

25...years old? Yeah I've heard that's supposed to happen here as well. I'm already well past 25.

As per citric's comment - I figured as much. Was thinking that after a year I would just reapply and see what happens.

In my driving career I've had one speeding ticket, one accident (I rear ended someone at a red light, 100% my fault - but the other driver wanted to settle it privately and never contacted me, lol), and one license suspension (blood alcohol content when my license was under zero tolerance). Thank god all that shit happened before I got my full license, lol. It was years ago anyway, none of it would show up on my record now regardless.
