Christ man, sorry to offend, but no need to jump all over us either.

I can understand your point, but on the other hand, if you don't want to read about a movie, then why click a link into a discussion about said flick?

It's been out for ages now...it's one thing to have spoiler warnings on discussions about *brand new* or *not yet released* films, it's another thing entirely when you're dealing with a two year old one IMO.

k, well, i didn't mean to come down on you guys so hard and all, so sorry about that...but it pisses the hell out of me, especially a movie that I've been hearing a lot of good things about recently and really want to watch it myself. So yea...whats with this black and white thing I read and the movie being watched backwords? WTF?

It's wierd to start with, but you get used to it, and you'll love it.

Memento OWNZ. I have the DVD, even the packaging is genius. Anyways... why would u want to watch it backwards? Takes the creativity away from the movie. What's a matter? XTC burn all the braincells, so you forget the beginning, or do I mean ending??? Hmmm....

Again, I say christ...I can put up with a lot of pointless crap aimed in my general direction but this one flat out takes the cake...

I'm sorry that the fact I'd like to watch the movie in linear order for a change of pace offends your sense of creativity and style...it intrigues me how the movie would come across if it'd been filmed in the more normal style...and I'm not the only one because I've read about people doing dubs of it with VCR's before...and apparently it doesn't fit together perfectly either.

I could really do without an ill-informed flame accusing me of "frying my brain" with x...FYI I have zero problems with people doing drugs (and am for legalization), but I'm not into them *at all* myself and have never touched x.

Think about how little you know about people on these forums before you start firing off little flames like that...all you're doing is exposing your own ignorance.

I kind of assumed that you didn't mean to word that post quite as harshly as it came across so no probs there...

In short, the backwards thing is what makes the movie unique, the main character has a memory condition where he can only remember the past 20 minutes or so, so the film starts at the end, and progresses back toward the beginning, 20 minutes or so at a time to simulate the condition for the audience (though some segments are longer, and some are shorter...).

The B+W scenes are just advancing the story in-between the 20 min. segments, and flow in a start to finish order instead of the reverse flow of the rest of the film.

I know, it sounds confusing, but it's brilliant to watch and it'll all make sense once you sit down with it...speaking of which, what're you waiting for?

ok funny story about this movie...
i recommended that my two lady friends watch the movie. when we rented it, i was busy so they were watching it together. they kinda knew how the movie progressed but while they were watching it, the dvd was scratched after the first chapter thing... so the dvd player kept on replaying the firstpart.... i come in an hour and a half later and they were STILL watching it LOL!

sorry to not have the full details, but someone recently told me there is a version of this film now available playing from back to front...

i'm sure one of the boffins will find it for us...

Posted by DjJade on Oct-23-2002 01:12:

but playing it backwards [forewords technically....] would totally ruin the movie... woudlnt it?

Posted by dj ZevZ on Oct-23-2002 01:55:

I would really recomend you all see AMORES PERROS

classic film!

SPOILER (HIGHLIGHT TO READ)

Sammy IS Leonard. In one of the final black and white scenes, when Sammy is in the home, looking around as ppl walk back, pause it after the guy walks in front of the camera + Sammy. After he passes, you can see Sammy is replaced by Leonard for a split second before the scene cuts to the next one
