i wouldn't say shit, but when you talk like that, i mean, have you heard yourself ? Perhaps tongue and cheak, I would say Seandroid is about as good as you. And i even tried to find recent stuff, but you seem to stop existing after 2009. So all in all, you kinda sound like a douche.

I'm still shit, but shit among less than shit, feel free to prove me wrong and sorry if I've insulted anyone. Given that, here's a few tips that have helped me: 1) Never stop a particular aspect of a track until you are 100% satisfied with it. I can't tell you how many times I've spent days on 20 seconds of music. 90% of the time I hear some POS track from a nub, the first thing I ask is "how much time did you spend on this?". Most great tracks take one to two months of near daily work, every professional who's studio habits I know about agrees. 2) This is EDM, right? It's meant for a "club", right? When you are listening to your track, turn up your speakers, turn off the lights, close your eyes and just listen. Would you be pissed off if you heard this track come on at a "club"? Or would you totally freak the fuck out and love it? That's something that Sean Tyas told me a long time ago, he makes music for a club, not for his computer speakers. 3) I read "less is more" and that is true not only with the amount of tracks in the mix, but also with the effects. Turn down the delay/reverb, you may like how tight it makes your mix. |

you sound a little bitter. Your failures are your own. I can name 5 people right now that are legends in the music industry, not just EDM, that post on message boards. In fact most successful people are so busy, that is all they have time for. I make a good living, i manage to post. Projecting your sense of what is possible unto others is kinda pathetic. I mean here you are posting on a message board. Joel posts here, more than you know are lurkers.
Do yourself a favour, and make an alt if you want to roll in the mud.

class act. I suppose in hindsight , you are so unknown that using an alt is not really needed. Iguess i was giving you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you might want to put the stupid shit you say under a non de plum in the event that you have a career. My bad.

because you stated you were more successful than everyone that posted. I posted earlier on. I assumed you had a career. You don't. And from what i've heard from this place in the last year, well i would say you aren't the worst by any means, but there are many that have progressed much more. Your 2009 work to now shows no progress what so ever. So i would say , your notion that everyone here sucks is not so true.
Also, when someone like me finds that you are kinda an egotistical douche, there is something wrong. I mean i wouldn't agree with them but i can see how people would say that about me. Now when i find that you are that, well , its like Palin telling her kid to stop being such a fucking dumbass. When you have an idiot calling someone else an idiot, i mean that is not addition, that is an exponential idiocy. Just a reality check i guess.

OK so we managed to get a little more tips and advice here in the thread but there was shit thrown everywhere. Hey L4C, should I just quit producing now so my heart isn't broken later? What's the deal? I haven't been ripped on by you in a while.
Don't use effects if you don't know what they do or how to use them. Good example: Multiband compression. A difficult thing to understand how to use properly, especially if you're a noob. Just don't.
DO use effects you don't understand. Start another project and focus solely on learning how to use that effect and practicing with it, over time you will begin to be able to deploy it into your productions. Do research simultaneously.
Rest your ears frequently. You may think you can keep going and you probably can, but ear fatigue can start to set in very quickly, as soon as 10 or 15 minutes in headphones if they are too loud, and not much longer with speakers. Your judgement becomes poor.
Have a billion samples. Simply put, the more the better. This can help your productions by inspiring you, and simply giving you more breadth and dimension to work with.
Mix low. This is pretty much universally agreed upon but people work differently. Mix/produce at low volume so your ears don't fatigue and so you can understand the mix better. If it sounds good low, it will probably sound even better loud. Once you get things locked together a little better, turn it up nice and loud to test out the mix, then go back down.
i've never told anyone to stop. Do what ever the fuck you want.
REgarding samples, having a billion will just increase the time it takes to find one that fits. Use an audio sample manager, catalogue your stuff, and stay organized. Don't collect samples .

| Originally posted by djyouth D/A converters play a crucial role in how the digital signals (which electronic music is) translates to the speakers. Getting good D/A converters is essential if you want the most out of the monitors you got. Good D/A's are expensive. No use in 'upgrading' to a cheap interface such as M-Audio, nor is there any point in getting very expensive speakers unless you have decent DA's. And there is a noticeable difference, and it's motivating to have a pro sound while mixing, not just after the mixdown is done and hou play it on an expensive amplified system. No it is not an oxymoron in my case. It's a piece of good advice, and it's based on my experience. And that of James Cameron. I've spent countless hours getting nowhere with a track, though I learn lots from it. |

I would say, it depends on the person with samples. But absolutely organize them. To meet you half way I'll say, more samples is better than having fewer samples. However, having a shit load available, just incase you feel like you need them... good stuff.
i would say most 99% EDM could be made with 2 sample libraries. ALl those vengeance libraries are basically the original Ueberschall one, rehashed re edited. I can't prove it, but i am willing to be almost all those libraries originate with the Euberschall one released in like 2000.
and i would totally rape that jewish girl. Rachel ? Something about her wants me to like break her spirit or something. And i got mad love for the gays but honestly, the main gay dude deserves everything he gets. The black girl is too fat, don't care for it. The coach , i mean why is he singing all the time. Its weird its pervy. And you had to have Gwenyth Paltrow. If you've ever had to listen to her talk, some people are stupid, but they don't think otherwise. Fuck she is annoying. Like her in person. Fuck me.

yup. But after the first season , it was just unbearable. I would start yelling at the tv.
I like that view. Knowing when to move along to a different element works well, too.
