Indeed... I'm glad to see some different names mixed with some of the same that I've missed other times. Should be quite fun.

Posted by jdub889 on Jul-27-2012 05:35:

looks like a solid house lineup and a great techno lineup. looks like the same trance lineup we've seen a bazillion times. why does insomniac insist on outsourcing its trance stage to asot/anjuna? i don't understand why the same people that are booking fresh artists like 16 bit lolitas and nicole moudaber couldn't figure out a new and dynamic roster of trance artists as well.

or if they insisted on outsourcing to a label, wish they would think about a coldharbour stage, or a garuda stage, or a subculture stage...

Posted by Quazar on Jul-27-2012 05:57:

Anyone who went to EDC doesn't really have a need to go to this at all. Gui Boratto was just at Avalon, and Royksopp and Orbital deserve to be seen somewhere they can play longer than 1-1.5 hours.

Although for those who weren't able to make it to EDC, it's not bad I suppose.

I'll be skipping this and probably going to Escape from Wonderland.

Posted by element-y on Jul-27-2012 06:33:

skipping as well. Same lineup for the most part as EDC.
Other genres are ok but the trance is pathetic. How many more times can we see ATB, Dash Berlin, Arty, Cosmic Gate, Simon Patterson, etc.

With ASOT they had it right at EDC with some artists. They brought over a few like W&W and Jochen Miller who dont get much time and they tear it up at festivals. But the others, zzz....

Digweed & Tenaglia..GOSH i hope they are playing the same day!

coldharbour stage is a perfect solution. new names that the masses haven't really seen before. khomha, grube & hovsepian, arnej, mr. pit, etc.

come on SMG!!

I grabbed a ticket and went to EDC... well sort of... I got ass raped by the traffic and missed the first half of Friday and was in line on Saturday when they shut down (9.5 hours in traffic both ways on Saturday... FML).

There are still acts I would have loved to see at EDC that are playing that I missed on this lineup. I'll be happy finally seeing them. There are additions I'm really happy to see (some live acts like Royksopp and Orbital for one) that I wouldn't pay to see on tour because I don't follow them well enough. It's good exposure for them to grow their fan base.

Two words to live by if you're going by car:

Waterman/Central

This would have saved me hours in traffic last year, since all other entrances are blocked off! (Assumes that setup is same as last year, read the fine print...)

I come from the north side(210 to the 215) and I have no problems with traffic. ;-)

No... just wasn't booking any large amount of significant gigs. After the EDC troubles as a whole (numerous artists missed their sets, not sure if he was one of them actually), he may have been willing to book Nocturnal as a makeup, or if he played EDC and had a blast, who knows.

He was "retiring" from touring if I recall his posts correctly.

Any suggestions on a good route there from Hilton Garden Inn? Problem last year was that I was already off the FWY at the hotel, so took the hotel desk clerk's suggestion, which resulted in a delay of over 2 hours!! Have gone there in 10 minutes from hotel to NOS by taxi before, but decided to drive since it was pouring rain...gah!

A friend told me that he's done this a handful of times now. Announces that he's retiring and then books a ton of gigs. Rofl
It sees that he certainly is not retiring. When he announced, it was something like 'just 3 more gigs'. Since then, it seems that he's done a dozen or more.

looks like FLG is gone, but W&W is up. W&W outdoors ftw.

Posted by DjWoody on Jul-29-2012 18:38:

It's looking soooo tempting.... But I have a trip in 2 weeks..... I hope it doesn't sell out until after I come back.

Danny Tenaglia, Digweed, Orbital, Gui Boratto, Royksopp....

Posted by DjWoody on Jul-29-2012 18:50:

I like how the lineup is more underground. Not that many commercial DJ's.

Posted by element-y on Jul-29-2012 19:46:

Like the W&W addition. Needs more trance like this that isnt used much in the US. Jochen Miller at EDC lineup was a nice touch. We could bring more of these guys. Ben Gold, Beat Service, Heatbeat, Astrix, etc. Mix up a little psytrance in there besides CL.

DT later had a 'clarification' post about retiring... he said he will just from now on be very picky about gigs and not do as many as before mainly due to being tired from so much traveling.

Also, he played EDC when scheduled.
