This was its third year, I think, though they expanded it greatly. The last two years it was in a parking lot in the market place.

Fugitive Escapade organizer hiding in Montreal, cops say

Former Escapade Music Festival organizer Nickolas Guindon-Vachon is likely holed up in Montreal, sitting on more than $500,000 in cash, police say.

Police are now asking for the publics help to track him down. On Friday, Ottawa police announced a warrant for Vachons arrest for theft over $5,000 and possession over $5,000.

Police received a complaint July 2, after proceeds from the electronic music festival, held June 30 and July 1 at Ottawa Stadium, went missing.

(Vachon) was last seen in Montreal, we just dont know where he went from there, said lead investigator Det. Chris Lavergne.

The last time someone laid eyes on Vachon in Ottawa was when he left the music festival around 5:15 a.m. on Monday carrying a big box and getting into a white Yukon GMC.

The SUV was rented, and police were able to track it using OnStars onboard GPS to Montreals Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport parking lot.

But when Montreal police checked the truck, Vachon was nowhere to be found.

Thats where we are now, said Lavergne. Police have ruled out the possibility he left the country at this point.

Vachon is described as a white male, 285 pounds, 5-foot-8, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He won't be charged. No witnesses. Only a suspicion that he took it. Unless he does something really stupid like buy a 600 000 track suit, they have nothing. Of course the local mob would have a much better chance to find him If they made it clear that finding him was worth 300 000. But I have a feeling he already rolls in that scene.

Promoters are fucking retarded for keeping that much cash on hand. Probably wanted to hide the exact amount made to avoid paying taxes and got fucked in the process.

all this sounds very circumstantial to me. plus, assuming he does get caught... with 600k you can afford a team of lawyers to show just how circumstantial all of this is.

for the festival's & investor's sake, I hope there was some video evidence or something like that, but as it stand's this guy sounds like he's walking away scott-free, straight to the bank.

i'm sure the room where they kept the safe had cameras??? no?

if not mega blame on organizers

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jul-13-2012 21:44:

even with a camera, you would need to prove that you left the building with cash in tow, so you would need a series of of CCTV footage showing you taking the money, not just going into the safe, footage of the money actually there before you were in the safe, which i doubt they have, and then footage that shows he left the premise. iF there is any blind spot, you can't prove he didn't have a change of heart and just leave the money right there where a raver stole it to buy drugs.

Which is why i would call your local hells angel chapter and pay them 300 000$. I think they would get the job done even if they liked the guy. 300 000 is 300 000. That is what i would do. I mean don't go yourself but ya, find someone that has an in, and do it vigilante style. Doubt he would leave the country with just 600 000.

He looks like the kind of fat fuck who's fat fuck thighs always rub together and sound like he is walking in corduroy pants even when naked. I can smell Shamu's belly button grease from here. To top it off he is a fucking ginger. Unforgivable. It doesn't matter if he is guilty or not, the true issue is that he is an ugly cunt making nothing i say libelous.

I have such a rage against huge obese fucking mouth breathers and gingers. It would make anyone an atheist.

Ottawa is weird like that. Like you go one hour outside of montrresl and everyone is just ugly and on the heavy side. And there is this fucked up fat girl skinny guy thing going on there. Like it happens way too often.v

I remember when that guy was promoting here in Ottawa and he always had this giant douchy attitude about him. Like his shit smells of roses or something. And then when Heaven got bought out to be replaced with Mansion he was taking over as manager of Mansion. I remeber over hearing him say, "if Heaven was full every weekend this wouldnt have happened." Even though Heaven was full most Saturday nights and over packed when a good DJ was in town.

Way to fucking ruin what was a very good stepping stone for Ottawa you selfish cock sucking moron

I am amused and yet slightly aroused reading this

OTTAWA Nick Vachon, the co-founder of the Escapade Music Festival wanted for stealing the proceeds from the festival, has been found by police in Aruba.
Vachon, 26, appeared in court Wednesday to be formally charged with theft over $5,000 and possession over $5,000.
The balding and heavyset Vachon appeared in court by video with his hands cuffed in front of him Wednesday.
Vachon said little more than his name during the brief appearance.
He was remanded in custody until Friday, when he will appear again by video from jail.
Vachon was one of the partners in DNA Presents who staged the Escapade Music Festival at Ottawa Stadium June 30 and July 1. After the festival, proceeds from ticket and liquor sales amounting to about $600,000 went missing.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest and a rental vehicle that Vachon had used was later found at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport in Montreal.
Vachon was arrested in Oranjestad, Aruba, and waived his right to contest his extradition.
Members of the Ottawa police travelled to Aruba and took custody of the Vachon. He was brought back to Ottawa on Aug. 14 with the assistance of the RCMP Air Services Unit.
More to come.

I wonder what the maximum penalty is for theft over 5k is in Canada. Gut instinct says it isn't that bad.

If he's smart, he will park his ass somewhere in the Caribbean for a few years. I know someone who ripped off people for over $7 million, back in the late 90s and he still free. Plus he setup telemarketing scams years back, got caught but never went to prison. It is interesting how the system works.

500 000 is not enough to disappear. He was also caught with the money. I would say he would have got off if he didn't run but igiven that this is a rave promoter, he probably would have to deal with the under world which is not so pleasant. This guy did not really think it thru. And he stayed at a Marriott in on an island with 100 000 people.

Yes and no. If he managed to find a way to Thailand, he could have lived a pretty decent life for at least a few decades.
