-- how come so few people understand trance?!
Pages (3): « 1 [2] 3 »
As some one pointed out earlier... as soon as the trance-impaired bigots (lol) hear an electronic bass drum instead of what they're used to, it turns them off. It's like me: as soon as i hear a really heavy guitar riff, i switch right off as well. But in general, i don't mind listening to different types of music once in a while. I believe it makes me appreciate the music I love even more.
It's just something about that really heavy guitar and the whole thrash metal thing. Ughhhh, especially the voice that makes the people sound like they're choking.
Here is my opinion. Most people on this earth are brainwashed zeolots and for the most part incredibly stupid. The end.
Most people hear the beat and say how do you listen to that, they dont really listen to the melodies and unique sounds which gives electronic music lovers the highs
mostly through musical arrogance and lack of musical brain ie. dont like music without singing.

hehe,
wen i try to get my m8s (not tranceaddicts) to listen to trance, they dont wanna know, cos apparently its all the same, "all sounds shite to me", aaaggggghhhhhh, if they sat down and fully listened to a compilation cd or mix they mite actually understand why i luv it so much. wen they put rock music on i try and listen and sometimes quite like it, because i know wat its like wen people wont give it a chance. Borrowed one of my m8s politics of dancing the other day and thank god he has seen the light!
the thing is one of my m8s (who is now into rock) used to b into trance as much as i was, but now is really arrogant about it, and sez i only go clubbing cos of the fanny, like he gets it. i know for a fact he will like it again if he gave it a chance and gets it out of his head that its not total shite.
if more people would give it a chance and actually listen to a melody instead of turning it off before the intro is finished then they mite grow to like it.
but seems like these people dont know how to live life to its fullest.

It is just TASTE that does it
It's because the only so called "trance" they've heard is the shit that's played on the radio, and that's where they get the "trance sounds like BOOOM BOOM BAM BAM" sterio type. Oh well, they're missing out.
"why is it so long?"
"how come there are no lyrics?"
its so repetitive"
blah blah blah..
y'know, i bet if the redio stations played a few good songs, there would be alot more ppl liking trance, and alot less stereotypes about it. and also, ppl bash it, but they havent tried it..
goddammn it !

then again, prog is way harder to understand that trance ever will be (no offence to trance, but thats the truth)...hehe, prog is more "sophisticated"
our brains are more sophisticated.....
i think it's rather feeling the music that does it for me... i mean, i hear beats and subconsciously i know that something new is going to come on with the next 4 beats... and i anticipate it...
you know how they say that if you don't like classical music, that means you don't understand it and you're not mature enough for it? i just think that's complete bullshit. for everyone his/her own. every person is different and everyone has their own turn on. mine is trance and not pop or rock.
but you all are right, most americans are stereotyped towards electronica. my sister's boyfriend (well, he's really russian but actually listens to acosta, tiesto, and such) was asking me why there weren't any huge hits this year... caz last year there was darude with sandstorm and the year before that atb with something else...
i don't see that as ignorance, i don't criticize him. i see that as being misinformed, not understanding WHAT the real electronica stuff is. and i emphasize, he DID borrow all of my GU cds (004, 007, 009, 013, 015, 019, 021, 022) and the only ones he really liked was just 007, i think... melodic stuff... he also asked me to made him a cd with some new stuff and i let him preview some tunes before recording and he told me which ones he liked... ALL of them were female vocals...
so the big question would be, WHY? why are some people able to yell "OMFG, this is the best track in my life" when they hear the breakdown of Ligaya, and others say "turn this repetitive crap off"? what makes me 'die' when the screeching and ripping percussions of S.H.O.K.K. come on and others to say that my speakers are broken and they're making some kind of weird noise?
i guess the answers lie much deeper on a psychological/chemical/physical level. what makes us special? maybe some kind of study would reveal a similarity or 2 in us, TAs... maybe it's some kind of a weird DNA configuration or a chromosome thing... who knows???
wow, sorry, i only wanted to post 2 sentences...
