Whatever you do, make ABSOLUTELY sure you only reserve / give deposit via credit card ONLY. It's the only way you'll be protected. No bank / cash / wire transfers, etc.... If they don't accept credit cards, move on to the next options.
My friend learnt the hard way at WMC a few yrs back. Lots of scammers out there (condo's / villa's / apartments).
Like you, I did my homework, number crunching before booking - nothing wrong with that !

your plane ticket should cost around $500, split condo with few ppl should be $500 max each per week and the event tickets are $350 plus fees.
You should get by on about $100 food per week and buy and pre drink your booze down there too. We would make a large salad, boil several eggs, buy pre cook chicken, bread, peanut butter, jam, juice (lyrics from Insomnia - Faithless?), etc so u always have food waiting for you when you return from partying. We would sleep from 6-noon, do beach parties right next door then nap for two hours then go out from 12-5am at the clubs every night. If you eat and sleep well, you can do that easily throughout the bpm week like we did (and not burn out).
PS, kool Beach has awesome burgers and fries, on the cheap too.
So basically the trip didn't cost that much!
Plane tickets are around 560
looking at Appartments right now, or even appartment style hotels.
costing 600-1000 for something decent. I asbolutely need a fridge on this trip.
Your schedule sounds like exactly what I want, Ill probably squeeze some beach at 10am until heading to a day party.
That's how I spent my 3 week Portugal trip last year. Home anywhere between 6-8am, and beach at 1030-11 lol
I just hope the wife could keep up. lol
The sucky part about the all inclusive, is that if you want to bring friends in to hang out, but they're not from the resort, they can't get in.
My brother alaways gets a condo on the 5th avenue, and buys food from walmart, its pretty cheap. Buy your alcohol at Europea (google) and you should be set.
I also prefer the mindset of the all inclusive as you don't have any hassles, but when its for party, all inclusives are pretty uptight.
here is my two cents, stay in a condo specially since you are to spend a lot of time at the parties. Drinks will not be cheap at the bar, but just go the corner store to get everything at dirty Mexican cheap prices, and yes there is always Wal-Mart.
if you were going to Playa only because the beach then I would go for the all inclusive deal instead. Most hotels will include breakfast in case you decide for a non inclusive hotel instead of the condo.
transportation from the airport is easy and cheap, just take the bus if the hotel does not offer transportation. The bus terminal in PDC is right off 5a. Seconds and an easy walk from almost anywhere if you are staying in the city.
and here are some pics from last Feb, I was there for the Arena festival

Hotel is booked. 650 for 14 nights @ Playa Hotel Suites
that looks like a decent hotel and only 10 min walk to clubs and Kool Beach I believe. Tons of reviews can be found on Trip Advisor

anyone know when the best time to book the flights is?
edit: changed the trip to 17 days.
10 days of party.
7 days of rest.
not sure which month but you obviously wouldn't want to wait til Dec.. but the middle of the week is best time to book flights, apparently
flights are 480$ roundtrip, one short layover each way (one in cleveland, one in newark), montreal-cancun. i'd book now.
and the shuttle from cancun airport to playa del carmen is 7$USD one way.
I read somewhere it begins after the New Year.. wish I was going again. Good djs .. lots of great things about this festival, including costs.

well, if you wanna save a bit of money, yes you do.
i checked again today, jan 4th-14th (i know you're staying longer though). it's 563$ round trip and your layover is in toronto instead. complete US avoidance for about 85-90$ more.
i think anything under 300$ each way is very reasonable. under 250$ each way is a complete steal.
erika r u going?>

maybe. looking likely. depends on how full i can get my winter schedule for school. if i'm stuck with only 2 classes, then ya, i think i'll do it
but if i can get an override for another 2 classes, and make it 4 total, then i have to pass on bpm this year
phase 1 line up announced

looks remarkably similar to last year except SVEN VATH! Damn
The Djs love going there, great weather there compared to half the planet and it's not a zoo like the big American festivals, etc. S
Steve Angello booking standing out like a sore thumb again..
*fingers crossed*
Carl Cox added too. also Troxler and Luciano.
Grrrrrrr
