for this exact reason i choose not to particitpate often ( if it all) in any forums accept for the local forum, and you know what? im almost done with posting there why? this community fucking blows, were all haters, weather its hating another country or another style of trance/or music even. we get to the extreme point where we get angry when we disagree of what someone else likes

you all need to lighten up this is music not life or death

yes i know i strayed from the tiesto14 situation but i dont give a shit really i had to let that out

I don't think there's that much "america bashing" going around. There is plenty criticizm regarding the Bush Administration, elected with by a small majority of the population, and there is the odd stupid stereotypical comment that gets blurted out every now and then. But the large majority of the posts are nothing personal, and its usually very clear that its not the American people that are being attacked, but their leaders. Some of you people are just a little too sensitive to any criticism regarding your country. I agree that the actions of the US president are being examined under a microscope, but I think it is justified, considering how he probably holds the most powerful position in the world right now, and his decisions not only affect you, and people in the middle east, but it will also dictate our future as a global community. So don't think people are just criticizing the US actions just for the sake of bashing, rather, we are trying to intelligently discuss global politics because the issues are very real, and very serious.

I must admit, I've learend SO much regarding international politics, on both sides of the argument. These threads are very worthwhile and good reading material in my opinion. Sure there are some assholes who step in with their idiotic statements, but generally, I think these threads are jampacked with very interesting articles and information. As long as the posters don't take it too personally, and start arguing through pure emotion.

If I recall correctly, Tiesto14 was the one who brought up the whole "my country is better than yours" attitude, with his ignorant stereotypes, and moronic statements like "Stop talking about America, Look at your country, what have you ever done? all you have is hockey and beer," undermining the lives of the brave men and women of our country, who lost their lives for the cause he supports himself.

He was always first to resort to personal attacks, eg "OMFG! YOU MUST BE SOOO FUCKING STOOOOOPID!!!!" whenever anyone disagreed with his views. It was only natural that he would flamed with moronic comments like that.

In summary, I don't think anyone has started a thread saying Americans are bad. I just think some of the American users are just over-sensitive about the view of the United States on the International Stage. But I think these topics are relevant, considering the consequences that will be thrust against us as a global community in the coming months. So if you can't stand up and post in this international forum, then fine, go hide in your regional section, where you won't have to face the scorn of the international community. Just like Bush dodging the UN conferences. Just don't be ignorant enough to think we're doing it for the sake of putting down the States. Because, for your information, what Bush does doesn't just affect you, it affects the whole world. You may not be concerned, but we are.

Well tbh for a start there isnt just American bashing and stereotyping that goes around on this forum. I've seen many country's citizens and ideals abused by others on here and it often goes un-noticed but American being such a figure head and powerful nation seems to get the brunt of it. But as Neo said on a Mutlinational and Multicultural forum this is to be expected so people should really is have some sense to keep any controversal topics and thoughs to themselves. I, Personally have been sick with all the recent topics in here about Bush, his tactics, 9/11 etc. Yes September 11th was an atrocity but even here in the UK for the past week if not more there has been a shit load of documentaries and the like on it, on top of the whole Iraq business and it really gets me down to see the media making money off of things like this.

So basically wot im sayin is that Tiesto14 should have handled the abuse a lot better as we all have to put up with things like this in life and its all a lesson of control

and in return, if you like, i can go back and find the times people would say things like "you are proving yourself to be a typical ignorant arrogant american", or such statements.

perhaps a lot of the discussion that goes on in these threads is civil, but you are blind to think that generalization of the AMERICAN PEOPLE does not happen as well. like i said, i could go find examples if you really want.

you insinuate that i am over sensitive.. yet i think you might feel a bit differently if you constantly were portrayed to be a bad person under blanket statements about your country or your country's people.

I find it funny that the "Chillout Room" is the total opposite of it's name. Maybe if you started a FLAME OUT Room, where anything goes, you would clean up the other rooms. It would be funny to see everyone saying what they really want to say, besides me atleast.

Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. an opinion is never right or wrong, it's just what someone thinks. But in some cases opinions shouldn't be advertised. If you don't like a certain group of people, don't advertise it because it will somehome get back to you in a bad way. It's like walking into a black neighborhood wearing a sign that says "I hate ******s", SOMEONE's going to get pissed off and kick the shit out of you.

Nobody with any sense would think less of you for being american - I for one don't, and I can't think of anybody in the chill out who has sunk to that level.
You also wrote (somewhere) that tiesto14 was fed up with reading american bashing threads every day. I think that is a little rash - I can recall only a few threads from the last couple of months (unless they are hidden under headings such as "I'm drunk") - and practically all of them has focused on the foreign policies of the US government, not hatred towards american in general.

quddha: Your post reflects my thoughts on the matter to an extreme degree of precision. I agree with each and every sentence - good job.

quddha told exactly what was on my mind... great post!

As for Tiesto14, he should stay banned and serve as a warning to others who follow his young manners.

If people don't accept criticism then they can't get better at what they do, won't evolve and finally disapear one day.

Posted by Tranzmit on Sep-10-2002 15:02:

I can't be assed posting too much on here anymore but i do enjoy a good itellectual debate on pretty much anything. Sadly Tiesto14 was pretty argumentative and petty and quickly got very personal about things and started acting like a spoiled kid who hasn't gotten his way. When he wasn't in a argument he was fine, I haven't got anything against him at all but he wasn't helping things here on the boards in the slightest.

As for the America "bashing" as it's been dubbed, I have a lot of issues with the way the country runs it's foreign policies and i'm not crazy of some of the ultra nationalistic things said about it either.

but i really like american people, They're great! I actually think things are gonna calm down a lot as far as any future debates go because there's no fuel for the fire. No accelerant to turn a debate into a flame-war.

so while it's sad that Tiesto14 has to leave, it had to be done and he did ask for it literally

Cant he just create a new username and return? As like Tiesto14.5 or something?

maybe, but new apps go thru Swamper or the mods i think, so hed prolly have to be more creative. the thing is- some members threaten to leave and never come back. i think t14 has done it several times, and a few other to my knowledge.

they ALWAYS come back in one way or another. i think we all know what a good resource this is, even if you dont post! late|

I believe if the user becomes such a problem their IP is banned.

As i remember tiesto14 have k56... that would rule out ip banning... uless they give static ip to k56 users in usa.

Dancing Dude

why'z he banned????????

can we no

Posted by Arbiter on Sep-10-2002 21:50:

For the most part, I had no problem with tiesto14. But he never really respected other people's opinions, and was always quick to criticize anyone who was proposing something opposite to what he believed. The whole 9/11 issue brought out the worst in him (and some other forum members).

I am a dual citizen of America and Canada, and I have no problem with people "America Bashing" so long as they do so in an intelligent way. If you want to say "America Sucks", fine, but support it with a calm and rational explaination of why it is your opinion that America sucks.

I criticize America all the time, but it does become offensive (and childish) when no rationale for the opinion is provided. For the most part, the people tiesto14 accused of "America Bashing" at least gave reasons why they had their opinions.

If tiesto14 wants to come back, I would have no problem with it. But I would hope he would be more respectful of others' opinions and not take things so personally.

Arbiter
