yeah.. why are you talking about pioneer in a thread about a NI mixer?
And 90% is utter bullshit.
The mixer isn't a soundcard. It has a soundcard built into it. Big fucking difference.
The BS about CDJ's being soundcard is just inane.
Which leads me to my original question;
Are you fucking drunk or posting in the wrong thread?
Because NONE of what you said was relevant to the post above yours, or L4C's.

Also, it's customary to quote the person you're replying to.
Have you never been on the internet before?

You're such a shitty liar.
It's abundantly clear from your post that you've never used Traktor with a midi controller before.
Welcome to the club, even though you're half a decade too late.

you mean the NI mixer ?

I have an S2 which i've used granted for about 3 hours and it is just awful. I'm assuming it has the same drivers and protocols as the S4. I've just never really thought of NI as a company that made interfaces.

And i was using 2 laptops so that i could send traktor to ableton in a less sketchy way than using rewire. Each deck had its own chain so that I could dj my brothers wedding as drunk as I needed to be. Warped the tracks to so it was completely idiot proof. I mean there was no way i could fuck up any gains or other things you do when drunk. Not that i would do this if i was a regular dj but this was a one time thing and it wasn't like I was going to practice for it.

What's awful about the S2? I bet you noobed the settings :P

And they DO make interfaces. For DJ'ing. Not for music production.
And you can't compare a dj audio interface by music production audio interface standards. It would be like slagging off inhouse plumbing for not being built well enough to transport crude oil.
Sure they're both pipes, but they're pipes built for very different purposes.

Posted by itsamemario on Jan-18-2013 00:20:

And the fact that I used inhouse plumbing as an analogy for dj interfaces, was in no way meant to suggest that dj interfaces was only built for crap.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-18-2013 00:22:

nope. It had bad latency, sounded like shit, would do weird things if you had anything else running. And you can compare them. They do the exact same fucking thing. The thing is buggy as a controller, i wouldn't fucking trust it on the audio side.

I think it was pre 2.5 Can't remember. Was like Septembre 2011.

I don't noob things. If i use something, i know everything about it. I'm sort of OCD that way.

No, they don't. A 'studio soundcard' is built to handle a hell of a lot more than the dj interfaces are. Point in case; you can use a studio interface as a dj interface, but not the other way around.
Period.

And if it had bad latency, you most certainly NOOBED the fuck up the settings :P You noob. When setting the buffer settings on the S2 you have to forget everything you know from pro soundcards. Like for instance, setting it to 44 100 hz would result in less latency than if you used 48khz, right? Not here. You just gotta try out a few different settings, seeing what works best for your computer, at least if you go with what I've gathered through different dj forums.

And why the hell are you trying to run Traktor with anything else running in the background? It's a wellknown fact that the timestretching algorithm traktor uses eats up resources.

Edit: As db'y as my comment may have come off, I'd stil really like to know how you felt it sounded like shit compared to other interfaces you've tried Traktor with/on.

I don't have to take this shit from you. obviously i used an m-audio controller before and i even posted about me using over 2 years ago. I also don't need your invitation to any club. Just because you posted about this mixer first doesn't mean you know all about it. For fucks sake you dont even own one yet, so get your facts straight newb.

lol ok were do i start.

- an audio interfaces takes 1s and 0s, and turns them into an analogous signal. Full stop. Dj interfaces tend to skimp on many things as A, they don't require any ins , and only have 2 audio channels are a low sample rate. There is reason a dedicated device say an UCX for 1500 does audio in and out better faster than a fucking device by NI. I had nothing installed on the install ( 2011 mqcpro 2 x SSD drive , 16 gigs of ram) other than a legit copy of traktor, ableton, the drivers for the S2 which i ended up not using because the midi protocol was more stable. The audio had pops and clicks here and there, the latency wasn't great, the sound was shitty and you can't do any routing. A noob might be ok with how bad of an interface it is.

- no, higher sample rate in any interface = lower latency. Full stop.

-Why use other thing other than traktor ? Well , to a noob i suppose the use of ableton via rewire probably isn't something you will ever have to deal with as your major concern is mapping the sync button. I'm also guessing you have no fucking idea what osc is and why someone would be using say osculator.

get your shit straight before calling others "noob" . Kinda sad that an ex dj ( its been what, 8 years since i would of called myself an active dj or even touched a system other than my brothers wedding because he asked me and I know more about everything audio than anyone he could afford so it made sense regarding the PA setup and the actual djing ) seems to run circles around you regarding new technology and how they provide ways to dj in new ways. Granted i'm not a fucking tosser.

jesus titty christ.

Wow, ralphy likes to get on people's nerves.

Here's a true dj setup. No puney thin skinny cdj sound over here lol.

And nobody cares about you dj'ing your brothers wedding so please stop bringing it up in every fucking thread. You're like DJRYAN with a story.

That isnt anger. That is what you might call dismay. You are so clueless both regarding the topic at hand and how clueless you are. The sheer confidence that lines your bullshit is next level shit.

I spent at least a half hour looking thru posts as ortofnchild back in 2010. Its somewhere in there and 'm not gonna spend anymore time looking. I don't have to prove to you that i used a midi controller before ralphy, so don't welcome me to any club. I would take the timecode vinyl route over any midi controller setup. I'm not using the Z2 just for midi you retard.

Good for you!!!

have I ever claimed that you were?

And I'm gonna explain my comment as it is clear it went way over your head. You were explaining how midi mapping works like you were sitting on a big insider secret, when even my dad understands how midi works. Obviously my insult was hidden a bit too well for you to see it, so here it is in clear text: YEAH WE ALL KNOW WHAT MIDI IS YOU FUCKING MORON SO SHUT THE FUCK UP INSTEAD OF SPAMMING THIS THREAD WITH YOUR INANE COMMENTS! YOU CONTRIBUTE NOTHING OF VALUE. EVER.

You literally are one of the dumbest persons I've come across during my 15 years on the internet.

Are you stupid or what? The z2 is the first built in sound card midi mixer by NI, Its main features is that the EQ is done all inside the laptop, not seconday like the nexus. You just got owned by Looney, and you insult me by saying i never used a midi controller how dumb is that? You think your cool if you think you know someone if they have used a midi controller before? You must really have a really low self esteem. Lets see you say the same shit to looney and see what happens. Everyone clearly knows you got owned when you said, so angry as your response. Who the fuck says that to back up a statement. Fucking retard

No but I'm pretty sure you are lol.
"inside the laptop" lol. yeah. it's called midi mapping, you doofus.
We all know it is strictly a midi mixer, It says so in the original post.
Again you're bringing absolutely nothing new, or relevant, to the table.
You've been trying to troll this thread since I started it, but your attempts are as lame as your dick. So kindly fuck off. You are wasting bandwith.

And just so you know, the CDJ's ARE external soundcards, they are seen as asio device and can be mapped in Traktor for both HID and audio

It's very clear you've still got a steep learning curve to go regarding digital DJ'ing, which is ironic as you've been around for quite a while on here.....

That they are seen by the computer as an external soundcard doesn't mean that it is. i can make my printer show up as laser gun, doesn't make it any more so.

Posted by Raphie on Jan-21-2013 21:39:

Oh my, can your printer fire laser beams?

I can for sure use the CDJ as default soundcard on my system

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-21-2013 23:47:

your new logo doesn't suck

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on Jan-22-2013 07:22:

My printer can fire laser beams, but I live in China.
