Ok ... this is funny... now E*Master you say that "Rave" music was started in 1994 right and the word "rave" should only associated with that style of music. If that's the case then explain why parties were called "Raves" in Europe during the late 80's, years before this "Rave" music was even around???

Posted by T-Funk on Sep-14-2002 03:18:

from 24 hour party people:
"this is it, the birth of rave culture. this is the moment when even the white man starts dancing."
always makes me laugh

Posted by Ckerr812 on Sep-14-2002 17:26:

lol...Extasy started the rave movement, you can denie it all you want, but I was there. You can say natural high shit all you want, but we all know it's a load of crap.

The fun part of the early 90's was the E was a new drug, lots of people were trying it, and no one was saying it was bad for you. So you can say it was about the music all you want, to the majority of the people it was about the new high. Now like with any drug, people abuse it, sell it, and make bad batches, and it's not new and exciting anymore, hence, rave went down with it.

Probably not the best thing to say on a forum of people that use there computers everyday instead of getting out in the real world, but the truth hurts.

not too dark, it varried, but super fast, and did not sound like happy hardcore. Was Some was commercial but good. I also had a friend who made me a tape as well. Listen to "HArdcore vibes - dune", that is a good example. But there are some songs that were dark like "Droeste hoerst du mich? (german) - Mark 'oh", was a bit darker. I highly suggest the song "Raving in Mexico - Scooter" for the REAL harcore! That song drive me nuts!!!!!!!!!! As a matter of fact I am listening to it now!!!! That one was one of my favourite a long with a lot of one's that were not commercial whom's names I don't remember. But I have a lot of good memories of this. Remember Giving these songs back in Highschool to ppl, including mecha.

I did not experience Raves in Europe in 94-96, although I wish I had! I don't need a website or a book to tell me what rave culture was. Just because my experience of rave culture differs from yours doesn't mean that mine is any less valid!

Agreed. Should have said all this b4 I went on jeez at least i know now where u are coming from. Btw thank you for telling me how that stuff started here. I know in 96-97 was when I heard of it coming here and Ir ecal wathcing EC and actually see a video from scooter of a song called "I'm raving" (which did not AT ALL sound like rave). lol, I recall Monica Deol saying "this one is for all u raver's out there". I almost threw something at the Tv.
I never said ur info was invalid, I just really think that the rave Nation was greatly misintreprided when it came here.

btw I attached a sample of rave as I remember it.....

Wow, it looks like I'm not the only one who thinks that E*Master is talking a lot of BS. I totally agree with XLS that he is confusing rave music with rave culture.

E*Master, you don't know everything about raves. Just because you went to one in Europe a long time ago, doesn't make you an expert. If you had gone to tons a parties here in T.O and the surrounding area, I might consider some of the ridiculous things you've been saying.

Oh, and you still haven't answered my question. Seeing that you're a self-proclaimed ex-raver, have you been to any parties in T.O and how many???

Posted by LKD on Sep-16-2002 22:29:

i thought the topic on this thread was who is a partier and who is a raver

Posted by Endlesswave on Sep-16-2002 22:54:

I'm a partier, I have been to one rave when I first started partying a few years ago, it was alright...too bad I missed the larger ones at the CNE...I listen to eletronic tunes and party @ clubs or wherever there is that style of music. That's why I'm a partier.

I have not been to a "rave event" in TO for 2 reasons. A.) I don't like all ages events. (No offence to the under 19 TA crowd intended) b.) No offence but I don't feel like being at an event where I am surrounded by a bunch of kids on E acting in the most rediculous ways. I come to that conclusion because I have a friend in college who is an "EX- TO RAVER" who was into this whole shit. The whole idea of seeing ppl so tripped out on E that they lose control over themselves really does not appeal to me thank you. I know this does not happen at all events but I don't even wish to take the risk to see that.

I talk BS? lol funny. For your info I went to more than 1 rave. I went to a lot in Germany and 2 in Holland. Now let me ask you something? Did you ever go to ANY raves in Europe? Did u experience Rave nation? I also never said I was an "expert". I am just telling you what the real deal was over there.

raves? isn't that where kids go to do drugs and chew on baby-apparell?

.
.
.
i think this has turned into a 'hey, i'm the coolest raver of all, and i've been doing it longer, so n'yah!'

You know, it's funny how you say you don't want to be around kids on E but at all parties, whether in T.O or Europe, a lot of people, younger and older are fucked on E. Plus, if you're against being around E users, why call yourself E*Master??? And, let me stress once again, that I was talking about our local rave scene, which you HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED, and not the one in Europe. NO, I haven't been to a party over there, but I do know that it's incredible and better and different.

Oh, and to {b.s.e}, if a rave is somewhere people go to pop drugs all night, then wouldn't the Guv be considered a rave??? And, no this thread isn't about who is the coolest raver. It was about the difference between a raver and a partier, if there is one. Personally, I think anyone who is into the trance scene is cool whether they're a partier, raver, clubber, whatever.

What parties have you been going to? This happends at every party!

Look man I have my personal opinions on some of the things you post. I don't believe a lot of the things you say, and I hardly believe you experinced "Rave Nation" so you call it. You speak like a prophet who is sharing his wisdom, when really you have only been to handfull of raves.

I don't know, I think you should stop being the proffessional Rave consultant and just post on the parties and topics you know.

"1. If you are a "raver" then why are u not listening to rave?
2. RAVE IS DEAD! GET OVER IT! RAVE IS DEAD!
3. You are not a RAVER, I once was a RAVER but now a PArtier.
4. ANYONE who calls themselves a raver needs to think about what they are cause Rave is dead and it is not coming back. YOu are not listening to Rave, what they play at "so called raves" is NOT rave so it can't be called a rave NOR are u a raver. PEriod. nuff said."

^^^COME ON MAN^^^^

Im going on record right now by saying I am not a raver, nor was I ever, but I have a lot of good friends who are and I think they would be surprised to hear what you say about the Rave scene and the way it was.............:

partier, gino or raver, black or white, hippie or skinhead, they are the same in my eyes of this pointless repeating existance we call life.

I am not saying I am the coolest anything, have I said that? Hav eI said I am a prohet or wahtever u call it? no. I have not. second the "E" in Emaster does not refer to drugs, unless that is the first thing on yourt mind everytime u hear the letter "e". As for this thread I am done with, call your rave crap over here whatever u want I really don't care anymore. I never meant to sound like I am "preaching". Like I said b4, to me what I experienced over there was more like the "real thing". But then again enough of this. You wanna diss me go ahead. I am not trying to insult anyone or offend. I never experienced "your rave" and u never expereinced "my rave". So we know nothing of each other's types of raves, can't u just admit that? I can. there thread done.

Posted by Flec on Sep-19-2002 23:17:

yea but they arent saying that their rave is the real one and that yours isnt

they are willing to settle with they are both raves

while u say that ours are "fake" lol

i think that concludes this

bah unless we all sit together and actually talk like REAL ppl about the "different kinds" of rave then maybe we will all have an understanding of each other's idea's of rave. Maybe some day. Yo Flec what ever happened to our hip hop discussion?

Ok... explain what the difference is between them, because i notice the same thing is being said between raves and parties and we may agree on this.
