Anything thing with the name Alanis Morisette is by definition commercial, whether it's released or rotting in some studio engineer's vaults.

Rammstein is commercial cause I saw one of their videos on MTV... Du Hast

And I think Dumonde are busy cooking up some more cheesy instrumental trance at the moment... stay tuned for details.

BTW Liquid feat Silvy - turn the tide is maybe cheese but this song OWNED back then, it was THE track!
So I dont care if people say its cheese, it was awsome, just like
Zippora - lotus eater (extended mix) was.
Anyone who went clubbing here and says these songs are crap really missed something I think...

Sylver is just ok, I find their vocalist a tad depressing, and their music gets boring over repeated listens... I look for more exciting stuff. I wanna hear some vocal goatrance... anyone??

He contacted PVD to remix the new track.

why wouldn't he, he remixed Iio, a similar group...

commercial = having lots of record sales, played on radio and or MTV... at least thats what it should mean.

AHHHHH WHO CARE, SHEEZ

Don't forget that cheese takes more talent than shit that BT or some stuff Paul Van Dyk do...

The only song i like from PVD is Angel and The Riddle...thats all...the rest are crappy no talent shit..

BT with Mercury and Solace...

many people including me fell for trance because of cheese...

CHEESE FORVER..

AND HARD TRANCE.

Not really good news because I don't really like much of PvD or Sylver's work.. but who knows, mite be good.

I haveta say I love Turn the Tide though, though mainly cause of the vocals.
Be it 'cheese' or not.. that word has no definition anymore.

Posted by PatMcGroin on Sep-17-2002 10:02:

and even if he remixes it and it sucks??? so what??? pvd still owns, so WHATEVER!

Paul van Dyk and Sylver...who knows, it just might be alright. Anyway, Turn the Tide wasn't that bad.

blah blah blah... I talk to people in real life, and they equate radio play/// to commercial status... which makes sense when you think about it... most people dont think... so they call anything commercial...

I dunno, I find Dumonde incredibly cheesy, just like lots of other people... and I mean lots... I remember reading people trashing the european style uplifting "cheese" trance... and for most artists I would agree with them...

JUST WANNA SAY

Cheese is not bad

Some of them are though

Read This!

Sorry to not be with it, but who are Sylver and what have they made??

Just for the record (only my opinion but...)

My def. of cheese = Tunes that make me cringe coz they're so predictable. Can have vocals but don't have to. I don't hate a tune just because its cheesy, but if its really cringey and sickly I won't like the sound of it. Some trance cheese is o.k. I hate things like Ian van Dahl, not coz their cheesy but coz it sounds like no fucking effort or thought at all has been put ito the tune, and it is formatted to sell a lot and that is it. They are cheesy coz their designed to be predictable and sell to the masses.

My def. of commercial = Tunes that make it big in the charts that you end up hating even though might have liked them to start with, e.g. Iio. Get played shitloads on Radio one (or even worse, local radio) and in local clubs/pubs. People who don't even like trance normally think they're cool coz they know it. Also you end up getting shitty versions of good tunes, just so they sell e.g. Into the night suddenly becomes Take me Away, Stringer becomes Who do you love now, which is very very upsetting coz you've heard these tunes for ages n clubs, then they get bastardised and everyone starts askin you if you've heard that new tune by Danni Minogue

I think of cheese like this... imagine the teletubbies producing in the studio, and they come out with a track that goes, oh, e, oh, ah, ah, tin tang wadda wadda bing bang... (rememeber that witchdoctor song) well it's cheesy... On a more modern note : think Aqua's barbie girl track, thats cheesy, period... Doesn't matter how much it sold or how much airplay it got, it's still a phucking cheesy a$$ tune...

commercial as a friend told me = exposure

things that translate into exposure... TV ads for said band, radio play for said band, or video play for said band... If a band isn't getting any of the above they aren't commercial, period.

The latest cheesy song I heard was : DJ Alligator Project - blow my whistle couldn't believe my ears that tune was so bad

edit : on a side note, even if a synth group gets airplay, they will never reach the commercial heights of pure trash like Britney Spears/BSB and other girly rnb hip-hop trash...

Ian Van Dahl & Sylver do pop songs IMHO. Fundamentally, they do typical 4 minute pop like all the rock bands do, except with different instruments. (synths)
