Fine. I have to go visit my dealer, oh I'm sorry, PUSHER, anyways. He just got in a brand new shipment from Mexico. It's horrible ditch-weed, but damn I just love funding them.

It's still pretty obvious that almost 100% of cocaine in the US is not grown in the US, and thus is either brought through Mexico, or flown in directly.

Somewhat familiar with the story.

It's unfortunate that cartels don't have a moral compass. Like I mentioned in the other thread, having the drugs in ballot, and now approved in some states, will cause a change in Mexico. They are constantly fighting for keeping their respective routes and creating new ones while mini-cartels emerge.

More halcones than ever. More deaths every day. Maria Santos did what few will ever do, stand up to the corrupt. The result will always be punishment if you stand up for what is right. Don't get in their way.

It would be interesting to see how PRI (party to run the country for the next 6 years) approaches this cartel situation. Some argue that they will create some type of deal to minimize the killings, as it was before Calderon. Giving the history of the PRI, I'm guessing there will be more negotiations going on under the table. It will be clearer in the next couple of months with the Mexican George Bush.

If only this forum had more members with substance, not the one you guys make or buy but the one that makes you a better citizen, people like Lira wouldn't have to suffer convincing you of what is obvious. But the discussion at this level.

Imagine the cartels try to invade the U.S. and kidnap politicians and force them to make weed illegal again? I feel like they're almost crazy enough to do that.

I'd say it's a fair statement that about half the people on this board are functioning alcoholics.

Unfortunately, this is just another victim of the very powerful Mexican Cartel. She sacrificed her life so no harm can come to her daughter at the spur of the moment. The D.E.A has had more agents murdered than any other Federal Law Enforcement Branch in the United States trying to stop the ongoing war on drugs. There's been well documented cases which accused the C.I.A. of funding the Cartels in South America. Just more corruption in our government.

Wonder what effect legalizing marijuana would have on this. Would the cartels get pushier as more legal grow ops begin sprouting throughout the US or would it serve to curb the violence in Mexico? Guess there'll always be a demand for the harder stuff anyway.

I don't mind the divide you can see in this thread between those who come from south of Rio Grande (you, me, rdevito) and everyone else. We live this problem, they don't, so it's only natural we're more attuned to it. But after a couple of fuck off's, it's hard to even feel motivated to keep posting/arguing/debating. When I last raised this point, I could at least get sane replies like this one:

Which is quite reasonable if you know what goes on around here (not surprising, given how Arbiter is well travelled). Now I'm being told that computer chips are just as bad as cocaine in the other thread.

I don't like citing the same source twice but here's an article by the Economist. If anything, legalising marijuana seems to have a good impact on Mexico.

IIRC a while back some guys running for president in mexico hinted that they'd like to shift the drug policy towards reducing violence instead of stemming drug flow to the US. i also recall some ppl here getting nervous abt the idea. i think it would be a good idea, actually.

even if the violence gets pushed to the US, as regrettable as that would be, i think it might have a positive long term impact. once ppl start dying in violent drug-gang clashes here on american soil, i think (and hope!) public, and therefore political, sentiment would shift towards legalization. but then again, who knows how middle america would react

There is no solution to any of this. Telling a junkie to quit buying drugs, just isn't going to work.

China is a bit funny. While everything is very very illegal here, China is the leading manufacturer and exporter of all of the precursors necessary to process/make some of these.

I think it is just Mexicans that are loco. Canada has become a huge producer of weed and synthetic illegals...yet Prime Minister Harper has never been raped by a mariachi band.

God and clods, the have vs the have nots are the problem. With poverty so rampant in Mexico, the catalyst is there for violence even without drugs. If it wasn't drugs it would be something else that makes the impoverished do crazy things.

I heard in Cuba they are so poor, women will sleep with you just for a piece of candy. I booked a trip for the day after Halloween

some cuban women are crazy hot.
