Jazz is phenomenal on vinyl. Only problem is that the majority of modern sound systems are designed to play modern music and not jazz. Friend of mine is so obsessed with jazz he bought a special sound system that was designed for jazz listening. Every time i go over i force him to play "kind of blue" on vinyl. Fn amazing.

To answer the ops question, I basically listen to everything but im really obsessed with 60s pop music (brian wilson beach boys stuff, phil spector productions, bob dylan, beatles, and pink floyd).

I thought you were digging Prog Psy

Anyway, to answer your question: mostly 90's Rock (Metal, Punk, Hardcore, Grunge) and a few New Metal

Posted by PivotTechno on Jan-31-2013 12:54:

I think all the cool kids call it "Nu Metal".

...or N Metal if you're really boss.

Oh, and add Mockumentary Folk to my list.

To answer the thread, it depends on what you put within the title "electronic music." If you mean when I'm not listening to dance music, I absolutely love LIGHTS.

Otherwise it's various forms of pop and rock that I'm sure Tranceaddict would lambast me for liking.

I have so many guilty pop pleasures.

I tend to seperate music for learning and music for a quick fix. I know the words to that selena gomez song. I might notate a thelonius monk solo then go run to my chemical romance. Im also a huge metal fan. Who am i.

My favorite band is strung out. Has been for 16 years. Im all over the place.

Jazz (I listen to this more than I do dance music), blues, soul, funk, reggae, dub, folk, progressive rock, other "rock" genres I guess, older country, trip hop, ambient, disco, hip hop, rnb, classical, opera.

tl;dr: everything

Your use of And here is def novel. I tend to prefer the use of connectives bounded by commas and semicolons.

[stuff], AND [moreStuff] ...

Just a thought.

i'm somewhat of a maverick. My treatment of grammar, spelling and date rape is an intentional post modernist finger to the establishment. You ? dig , ' I could write flawlessly for a week if you were to put some money up front but I find the shackles of antiquated rules so restrictive to my creative process that it better be a reasonable amount of benjamins.

Mostly death metal and fusion.

Hey, I just met you, and this is CRAZY!
But here's my number, so call me MAYBE!

Posted by Mr Game+Watch on Jan-31-2013 21:14:

Videogame music
Funk, soul, disco
80's synthpop
60's/70's pop/rock
Hiphop, usually of the shitty southern variety
Chillwave but I guess that falls under the electronic music realm
occasionally I'll listen to thrash metal and 90's grunge

Posted by Zharen on Jan-31-2013 21:24:

60's rock, 70's funk and disco, 80's new wave and even some 90's alternative. I used to hate that shit back then, but I come to realize that some of it is good, brings back certain nostalgic feelings.

Posted by Lagrangian on Feb-01-2013 15:28:

Alternative, Indie, Nu-Wave, Classical, Pop, Americana, Country & Folk, Bluegrass. I also listen to news/talk radio mostly Bloomberg and BBC Radio 4

Chillout

I listen to a lot of different stuff. Probably split my listening between electronic and hip-hop, but then also a fair amount of opera, classical, jazz, and funk. Never been the biggest fan of guitars, so I don't listen to that much rock, except on rare occasions. Pretty much listen to everything besides modern country.

Posted by Kilixpree on Feb-02-2013 22:04:

blues

Posted by Floorfiller on Feb-03-2013 13:33:

i listen to lots of different types of music, but lately i usually go for the electronic twinged rock that is popular these days. i'm sure there are plenty of people here that would like this too...

Really a big fan of Foster the People. There Torches album is really solid. at least 4 or 5 solid tracks.

Also really like this album by Empire of the Sun. Couple of years old now, but only really got introduced to it in the last year or so. again a good half of the album is pretty solid if you haven't heard it before.

I would think everyone know MGMT at this point right? Oracular Spectacular is a great album. Didn't care for Congratulations as much. Again getting a little old, but whatevs.

found this band recently. haven't listened to much of their stuff, but i do really like this song. nice and relaxing hehe.

here is another newer discovery. they don't even have an album yet just an EP, but it's pretty good.

i think that should do it for now....

trying to get away from being too sentimental about older music and trying to make sure i keep finding new stuff that i like.

I wish I had a better set up here, but I do what I can haha.
I like to plug my headphones in to my speakers at night and lay on the couch listening to jazz records. Sounds good in my Grado Sr 80i's
