Yeah, Dumonde rocks!!!!
Dumonde - Never Look Back is one of my favourite tracks ever.

By the way, try Rank 1 - Airwave. I once made a list of the best tracks ever (by counting votes from a lot of people) and this one came out as number one. Second was Push - Universal Nation.

Posted by iliopsoas on Sep-20-2002 01:44:

Yeah I used to not like vocals at all when i first started listening to trance but they grew on me.

If you like Dumonde try these remixes
Marc Aurel - Running (Dumonde Mix)
Barthezz - On the Move (Dumonde Mix)

For some other hardtrance listen to
DJ Kim - Get Ready To Explode (Alphazone Mix)
Alphazone - Stay
DJ Energy - Excelsis (SHOKK Mix)
SHOKK - Isn't It All A Little Strange (Krazy Nut Mix)
DJ Isaac - On The Edge

And one of my fav tracks of all time
Altitude - Altitude (SHOKK Mix)

Welcome...

here are a few others worth checking out:

Cyclone - Salobre (Nickelson)
Veracocha - Carte Blanche
William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings
Gouryella - Tenshi, Walhalla, & Gouryella
Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel
Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape)

And I know you expressed a preference for non-vocal tracks, but here are a couple of beautiful ones still worth checking out:

Billie Ray Martin - Honey (Chicane Club)
Delerium - Silence (Tiesto's in search of sunrise)
Drax & Scott Mac - Angel
Way Out West - Mindcircus (Dresden & Gabriel)

And for those instances when you have to ease your friends into it, try these:

Boca - Miami (South Beach)
Dark Suite - Dark Sweet Piano (Starchaser)
Bent - Always (Ashley Beedle's Mahavishnu vocal)
Vengaboys - Paradise (Andromeda Star)

Okay, welcome once again, and don't forget to share any good stuff you come across.

Cheers...
Dzokayi

Arrow

I'm hoping you have some kind of broadband connection to the internet first of all.

Get youself acquainted with alot of trance.
advise: download almost all the mp3s in the TA singles page.

next...I think you should get to know what sub-genres of trance u like....such as..
uplifting, hard trance, mellow trance, atmospheric trance, borderline-house trance.....etc...etc...blahblah.

yea....find a sub-genre and then tell us and we can suggest tons of music ....be sure of that.

Posted by bluelimitd on Sep-20-2002 05:50:

Be Cool!

hey everyone, thanks for all of your avdise!! I've been downloading like crazy and love your suggestions! to answer the genre questions, I am pretty sure I like hard trance the most, among others that I like as well.

OMG?!? Someone's new to trance and nobody's said this yet. Not that I am an expert, and not that I was into Trance at the time, but go back to the heyday of 98 and go BUY a copy of:

Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport

Arguibly the greatest Trance album of all time.

Also, if you're looking for one of the greatest tunes (also from an Oaky album which is pretty good) download:

ameoba assassin - Piledriver (Grayed Out Summer Mix)

One of the best, and I can easily say this song is what really sank the Trance teeth into me.

^^^ so true @ tranceport!!!

ok so you like dumonde??? EXCELLENT!!

check these out (some have already been mentioned), it's some of the best of dumonde IMHO:

-dumonde - can u dig it? <-- the one and only dumonde *classic* (there's another dumonde remix of this that's equally awesome, it's on fate label side B, dunno the name)
-dumonde - never look back (original & check out the DJ Tiesto full-on vocal mix, it's awesome)
-vincent stormfield - sweet harmony (dumonde mix) <-- one of my favs
-marc aurel - running (dumonde mix)
-sash - adelante (dumonde mix) <-- the original mix of this by sash is pretty bad though.. euro crap, but dumonde transforms it into trance *bliss!
-dumonde - god music (the original one) <-- very nice, newer dumonde track

that's just some. welcome to trance

p.s. my personal fav dj is armin..hands down..

thanks alccode! these are great picks, I love dumonde, he never disappoints

Posted by bluelimitd on Sep-20-2002 06:28:

oh yeah, I am going to swing by the local borders book store and pick up a copy of tranceport

Posted by Alccode on Sep-20-2002 06:29:

no problem, man.

actually dumonde is 2 people. if you ever see "JamX & De Leon" you'll know that's really dumonde.. usually they use "JamX & De Leon present Dumonde" or something similar.. or sometimes they never mention dumonde (like "jamx & de leon meets tom wax - louder") ...though they're still dumonde

some people might think dumonde is cheese, but i STRONGLY disagree... they are amazing.. pure trance.

(p.s. if you like dumonde and hard trance in general, check out Lange as well, very good stuff there too)

well, it's ok that you like darude...for now. i mean that's where i started at. but once you start to download and hear quality trance, then you'll laugh at yourself for even listening to darude and the like.

it takes some time though to find out your taste, it won't come overnight. but meanwhile, if you like faster paced songs, then try hard trance, and a lot of people are converted into trance by this style. i personally like uplifting trance so i'm not the best person to recommend stuff, but i know a lot of people like:

dumonde, george acosta, nu nrg, dj scot project, cosmic gate are some

anywho, good luck, and i'm sure you'll be addicted soon

yeah .. you start out w/ darude, alice deejay stuff but then you get more into it and you discover, better, greater music. look at my thread of my favorite songs.. there's alot of good ones but just talk to people they know a lot too!

oh yeah... and download dj tiesto's remix of the silence, you'll love it

Woop WOoOP ! hello there new trance guy !

Glad to see another person getting into the wonderful world of trance !

Here's a couple of trance tracks that might interest you:

The Green Martian - Industry
Drax and Scott Mac - Sublime (3am Mix)
DJ Hooligan - Hear You Now (Humate Remix)
Faithless - Crazy English Summer (Hiver & Hammer Remix)

Very good tracks, very trancey but still verging somewhere on the hard trance side. Hope you enjoy the trance scene as much as I have over the few years. Soon you will discover new tracks defore other people, spend DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS trying to find the name of a tune

Enjoy

The stuff produced under JamX & De Leon typically has more influence from JamX and is closer to techno than trance. Those productions also don't seem to use the strong synths that are usually used under the alias "DuMonde". Can U Dig It? (Original Mix) is a good example.

From what you've been saying you like I think you will like these:

Kosmonova - Discover the World
Apollo 440 - Stop the Rock (Gigolo Instrumental)
Earthbound - One Nation Trance Nation

To me these are what trance is all about. All of them are kinda old but they are so good that i can't stop listening to them.

Enjoy your Voyage into Trance
