You are basically a guy playing a saxophone at a bar. Stop cheating the kids out of their fun by imposing your out of touch bullshit. next up is a jam me and my buddies use to washington handjive to..... I think part of the problem much like drug addicts is that you surround yourself with similar failures that also share your delusion. its the EDM equivalent to the 40 year old metal head working at Guitar Centre. That guy also things his band will make it. Just one more year..... |
L4C is like a more eloquent form of Existo.

How a 40 year old can connect with a room full of drug addled young adults.... djs do it because they are emotionally stunted and still find it rewarding. That and they all tend to be heavy drug users that enjoy being surrounded by similar users. I get those that do it for money, but say in your case, no money, awful hours to perform for kids. Kinda fucked. |
Markus Schulz 38, Guetta 45, Kaskade 42..

Can't say I'm stunned by this news, considering the mainstream success in the US and the money pit which is Vegas. He had some gay college thing, and now even more Tiesto grandeur on a Vegas budget.
Will Ibiza become a Clubland equivalent to Detroit's auto industry? I imagine all the drug tzars will be doing quite well with the influx of EDM mainstreamism.
After reading this joke of a thread last night.. and I'm not talking so much about Tiesto getting a residency in Vegas but all the chit chat about age and when dj's should retire.. I thought about how asinine a comment like that really is. I mean, look at the aforementioned dj's and their ages. Carl Cox by far books out every single show he ever plays at. In fact his tent at Ultra is so jam packed that they have to bring in an extra set of extra speakers just so people outside the tent can hear him. Couple that with the ASOT Dj's. Markus Schulz and Armin van Buuren and still to this day, all across the world they're filling up arenas.. The other dj's mentioned, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, ATB, etc. etc.. still have a huge following and not for nostalgia. They still remain on the cutting edge of EDM as far as sound, their tracks, mixes, and the like.. There's no getting around how idiotic it is for someone to say these people should retire. Its dj's like these that bridge the gap between young and old and allow our scene to be what it is.. because you can be 30+ standing right next to a 18 year old and both look over at the same time and say hell yea!! That's what its about and that's what it will always be about- regardless of age..
they play such big festivals that nobody fucking realizes how old and lame these mediocre ds are. And Carl Cox , well considering he plays the kind of music that could be mistaken for a a one hour track should just stop for that reason alone. I think you need a certain aphasia to find his sets remotely interesting. Or a lot of fucking drugs. His sets are more monotone than HAL.
And those festivals you speak of are were the good things in the scene are not happening. They are the same as seing Styx live reunion. Go nuts I guess. Like I said, these djs are museums and I suppose that is a role to fill but i'm sure about 75% of them could fuck off and things would be no worse off.

I've been to Vegas a few times. In general I find that whole velvet rope VIP bottle service culture kind of clashes with my sensibilities and sort of spits in the face of this purposefully inclusive dance music culture we've built together. All that being said, it is a good place to get shitfaced and have a nice time if you have some money to blow on a vacation. I have some family that are lawyers in Nevada, so occasionally I have a good excuse to travel there. That tunnel with the lights on the ceiling is cool, I walked through it with a girlfriend at the time while I was candy flipping, I'm pretty sure we looked ridiculous but we hardly even stood out.
I turned 29 a couple days ago so this age topic is coming to a head in my own life as well, I was 18 when I made my tranceaddict account though I must have lurked and leeched the mp3 downloads since age 16 or 17, don't remember. While it is clear that night clubs are a game for the young and I'm certainly feeling the sense that I am not welcome with an increasing frequency, I'm not sure where the fuck else to go. I like a certain style of music, that style of music is performed at night clubs full of young people. People don't just stop enjoying the shit that they liked their entire lives as soon as they reach 30. I don't go to parties to hit on girls, I just like the music and enjoy dancing and lasers and shit.
I figured I'd just keep following music that I find to be enjoyable, and continue visiting the places where it is performed without really giving a fuck what others thought about my presence there. I do remember a strong tradition of respecting one another and mutually attempting to have a nice evening though. When I was an 18 year old little shit I was giving hugs to strange 30 year olds and dancing until my legs hurt and giving myself this god awful ear ringing that hasn't stopped ever since; I think the current 18 year olds owe me the same respect that I have always given to others, thats just me though. Maybe I should just fucking quit and sit at home, but my parents still go out to jimmy buffet concerts and shit so I don't think I should automatically stop enjoying my favorite music just because I'm reaching a certain age.
cool there is a slot available in Ibiza. Ibiza > Vegas it's not the clublife it's also the beach, the ambience, climate, it's cheaper than vegas... and europeans would still prefer Ibiza than travelling thousands of kilometers.

Go to steves, check out the keyboard guys, they are pretty much the equivalent. Too stubborn to realize they are a walking cliche. I get why these words hurt. Why not just accept fate and let the youth do things meant for youth. There is something incredibly desperate with all these aging jukeboxes playing a game that is meant for another generation. Edm is pretty much the only scene were you get old farts playing rockstar. Well that and shitty cover bands that think hair rock will come hack. I get the legacy djs as they are like a museum. But the rest of you old farts, give it a rest. Nobody wants to look up and see some bald overweight underachiever. you want to make a difference, be a mentor or something to the youngins that are up and comming. A healthy scene is a young scene and your old asses should watch from the sideline . |

auditory aphasia, agnosia ... Didn't realize i was addressing a fucking room full of neuroscientists. Auditory Aphasia is the more colloquial term , is recognized in the medical dictionary and is used quite a bit in Sack's Musicophilia. I"m pretty sure he also knows the official meaning as well. Perhaps you should fuck off my nuts and harass his editor you fucking cave troll.

I just don't get how you can listen to the same track for 1 hour. It googles my mind. Adding a fucking bongo after 10 minutes is not my idea of fun. Like if you were to send people that actually like carl cox on a regular basis , send them and fans of Nickelback thru an mri and you will find some lesion somewhere. I mean it is fucking music for people that are so fucked that you could turn the music off and it would still be on.
I bet you could take one of those korg electribe pieces of shit and just have it on a 32 random loop generator were things change on top of the kick. Have that play under carl cox and people will fucking say best set ever. You just don't understand the intricacies of techno. Naww i'm pretty sure i get it. What i don't get is what sort of cocktail i would need to be on to be mentally on par with a monkey. This is ape music. But even apes would not go bananas for it. lol tadum tis.

carl cox should retire? wut?!!
sven is around the same age, maybe he should retire too?
retarded comments, age has fuck all to do with it.
and DT, whatever he is up to - semi-retired, resigned, taking a break or whatever. he blows most young punks away in his 'old age'.
