Had one...well, had two, actually. Great synth - the only reason I got rid of it was because I downsized and only kept my Virus and PC3X, which each have very specific roles in my workflow. If prices on the P08 drop enough after the P12 comes out, I might consider another one.

Yeah sounds good I shall keep an eye and see how the pricing goes on the older model.

That will be your third - good things happen in three they say

If I get another one, it will be the PE (Pentiometer Edition). My first two P08s were the original version with the endless rotary knobs and, even though I didn't have as many problems as some people had, I'd prefer the potentiometers. Something to consider if/when you start looking.

I'd also look at saving up for the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2

It is literally sex.

lol. You can even sync ossilators. Awesome.

there are 2 reasons to get an external synth in terms of sound. Distortion, feedback , input and a smooth filter. That is what makes external synths at least the new generation of analog ones sound different.

this thing overs nothing other than barebones modules but it isn't a modular synth. A tetra would blow this thing out of the water,

Mark down today as 'the day I was most wrong'

Because that is what you are. Most wrong.

Checked it out - looks like a cool little unit. The only thing is not being extremely knowledgable iin tihs area, knowing the essential things of what I should be looking for in a good analogue unit. I guess how well the paramets configure and work etc, on sound shaping i suppose?

will look at some demos on it when i get home.

Cheers brother!

no distortion , input or feedback circuit. I just don't see the point. The CV gate thing is a little ridiculous. There are a about 20 things that do this better. I mean get a reissue ms20.

Posted by tehlord on Mar-12-2013 17:07:

I've never really seen the appeal of a Moog. I quite like some of the drive they could get out of the Sub Phatty in one of the store demos on Youtube, but I wouldn't pay 850 for one. That's what they are here.

The MS20, or even the minibrute is far more appealing to me.

Saying that, I'm starting off with a Dark Energy and Perfourmer, and I'll add more analogue as I go. I do like the look of some of those new Pittsburgh Modular setups, oh and the Boomstar SEM too.

The mopho is great. Cant really go wrong and it is so cheap. Sounds a little more aggressive than. The v8 older brother.
