-- Who's got Ligaya?

I can't say I like Ligaya much. It starts off strong but I feel the orchestral breakdown doesn't fit and isn't very well produced. With a more powerful buildup and a better bassline this might have been an awesome track (unfortunately Tiesto seems to have been responsible for the Gouryella basslines).

_The_Storm_, you asked grafal what tunes he considered brilliant. While I don't have such a strong dislike for Ligaya as he does, I'd say it doesn't even come close to, e.g., Cape Town - Pitstop. There's an example, I could probably think of more.

Bottom line though, it's not a bad track. I doubt someone who likes trance could justify that point of view. At worst it's an average trancer.

Some songs that I truly find brilliant are:

James Holden - Nothing [Mix#2]
Jas van Houten - Heaven's Gate
Marco V - Godd
Marco V - Indicator
Solid Sessions - Janeiro [AvB Remix]
Umek - Gatex
Three Drives - Carrera 2
Three Drives on a vinyl - Sunsent on Ibiza
Ralphie B - Massive
Push - Trancy State [Club Mix]
Sasha - Wavy Gravy
Sasha - Xpander

Ok, I think that covers all the genres and types that I enjoy listening to. These songs to me are beyond brilliant...they are electronic music at its purest. These songs will always be good and are production miracles.

PS. Ligaya is terrible.

Alright I am listening to Ligaya right now to truly be able to feel its shittiness brought down upon me...

LOL...I actually got through the first 2 mins so far and this song tuly angers me. Gouryella has so much potential and they really botched this production to hell...more to come at the end of the song

Its just friggen dragging on...Ahhh finally its done. OK, in conclusion this song does have potential and COULD be one of the best songs of the year, but you know what? It's not...

My reason behind saying this song is terrible because it was created by trance gods who produced a botched song. If this song was made by an amateur I would be less harsh, but it wasn't. It was made by Gouryella who have the skill and love for trance to produce the greatest trance tracks of all time.

Overall, Ligaya had potential and was botched. That is why in my eyes it is terrible.

well i ahve to agree its not all that great compared to the other trance around. what also makes it worse is the hiver and hammer and rank 1 remixes dont do it any justice either. hopefully if the rumur about ferry remixing it himself is true, then he can turn it into a monster. maybe a system f remake would be good

I think one of the reason alot of people are disapointed in ligaya is because of the hype. I dont think any tune could have lived up to the expectations of ligaya, so as a result I'm sure alot of people think less of it then they would if it wasnt hyped so much.

I like the intro, with the whiny synth
The bass could have been more pounding
the arpeggios are good
the other whiny synth is good

all in all, the intro is tops..

but then, all of a sudden... the arps drop off, the synth string drops off, the whiny synth stops... and a pisstake strings ensemble stumbles onto the scene like a drunken pervert at a bar, making an ass of itself and generally pissing off or molesting the rest of the bargoing public.

2 things can bring this sucker back from shame, as far as im concerned

a) tiesto comes back, and they live happily ever after

b) ferry remixes Ligaya in Elevate/Solstice style..if this happens I would have to bow down and praise it as fucking gold. But until then, Ferry will have to keep up his excellent solo work <-(non Gouryella
solo work)

ps: ten bucks says it will be flogged on compilation cds for another year

LOL
Best analogy ever. I wholeheartedly agree, but then the build-up changed my mind back to liking this song.

Re: Who's got Ligaya?

Who cares who has Ligaya ... its just an overhyped trancer that deserves no recognition ... Yeah the whiny synth is somewhat unique, but it goes no further than that

"Here's to honor. To getting on her. To staying on her. And if you can't cum in her, cum on her."

My 2 cents.
