it's not being a hater...its being realistic
some dj's can pull off playing their songs in a set
but playing the same ones over and over is getting old really fast
your golden boy armin is not one of them
seriously how many more mixes of in and out of love does armin really need to play? song was never even that good lol

Every DJ who produces plays their tracks over and over. From Armin to Luciano to Jamie Jones. Some DJs only play their tracks. Calling a dj a douchebag for playing his own tracks is retarded. Where is the hatred for Hawtin playing Spastik for the 3453144th time?

The fact is, the people come to hear those songs. DJs like Armin try to keep it fresh with playing an assortment of new remixes. I don't think he played In and Out of Love at Ultra.

Golden boy? I don't think I've seen him spin in like 3 years. I did enjoy his Ultra set tho.

No hatred but I get tired of hearing the same tracks and I don't think artists should play their own tracks over and over and over all the time. Playing new remixes gets old too. Gabriel & Dresden have beat that dead horse... Kaskade too. Like hello, I do not want to hear you butcher your own songs that I used to love so much. The only new remix of In and Out of Love that I liked was the mashup with JOC that Armin was playing for what... a year? That got old too even though I liked it when I heard it at Zoo.

This isn't limited to artists that I'm not a fan of (anymore or ever). I love Sasha but if he plays nothing but Involv3r tracks for the next year I will get bored. I finally got to catch Matador and he plays mostly his own stuff. Great to hear but if he starts coming around NY frequently I hope he will change it up.

Capriatti disappointed people on this board because he played expected Drumcode tracks, so you can take back your incorrect assumption

Nobody is calling him out for playing his own tracks... its playing a majority of his set containing his own tracks, remixes, mashups, etc. that people are calling him out on.

A little better, but still about half.

Bottom line is, he DJ's a lot more of his own stuff now than he ever used to. I'm willing to bet even if I broke down one of his extended sets from back in the day, his own stuff wouldn't comprise more than 1/4 of the entire set.

There are A LOT of (mainstream) DJ's who do this now... W&W comes to mind:

Tracklist:
01. W&W Lift Off!
02. W&W ID
03. W&W Shotgun
04. Hardwell feat. Amba Shepherd Apollo (Lucky Date Remix)

10. ID
11. W&W & Ummet Ozcan The Code
12. Tiesto Maximal Crazy (W&W Bootleg)
13. ID
14. ID
15. Marcel Woods vs. W&W Trigger
16. ID
17. ID

I can only imagine who made those ID's...

Ferry is guilty too:

Track List
01. Festen F__k The B_llsh_t [Flashover Progressive House]
02. Jacob van Hage Crank [Flashover Electro House]
03. Ferry Corsten & Bassjackers Collision [Spinnin']

11. Ferry Corsten featuring Betsie Larkin Not Coming Down (Rework) [CDr]
12. Ferry Corsten Punk (MaRLo Remix) [Flashover]

I guess it's just what 'DJing' has become, because I'm pretty sure back in the day producer sets were kinda looked down upon unless advertised as such. There used to be a vast diversity in track selection when DJ's played. For this reason, as well, I prefer club sets spanning more than two hours... there tends to be a better track selection.

I'd rather see every DJ play their own tracks then all play the same beatport top100 tracks like what happens on the mainstages of these festivals lol.

Honestly, I've come to expect festival sets to be just average in 90% of events. They need to reach a broad audience of people, and you can't blame them for doing that. I'd rather have people dancing and having fun then being an arrogant douchebag.

Quality sets come alive at the 3 hour+ mark for me, because then they can actually take you for a ride, this 1-2 hour shit is just bang out as many tracks as possible to keep the wide variety of people on the dance floor happy.
