Speaking of good news:

Sources: Jordan drill in preparation for Syria conflict

A joint military exercise scheduled to take place in Jordan next week is aimed among other things at readying forces for a possible intervention in Syria, Western officials told Ynet on Tuesday.

More than 15,000 soldiers from 18 different countries are set to take part in "Eager Lion 2013."

The drill will include battlefield, logistics and humanitarian exercises for troops from Britain, Bahrain, Canada, Czech Republic, Lebanon, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Israel will not take part in the drill but will continue its "red line" policy against arms shipments to Hezbollah.

According to one western official, forces will remain on the ground after the drill "in case the need will arise to intervene in Syria."

The maneuvers are set to run for two weeks in the Jordanian army's training fields, schools and centers.

"Without a doubt this year's drill will prepare for a possible conflict with Syria," a Jordanian official told Ynet. "Jordan must prepare for any abnormal development on this front."

Jordan fears that Syria's disintegration could threaten stability in the Hashemite Kingdom.

Both Jerusalem and Amman fear that the hundreds of al-Qaeda and Global Jihad operatives will take over the Syria-Jordan-Israel tri-border area.

Meanwhile, the White House has asked the Pentagon to draw up plans for a no-fly zone inside Syria that would be enforced by the US and other countries such as France and Britain The Daily Beast reported

At least there's a number of Arab countries behind it.

Good news...

Reinforcements arrive for the rebels:

Thank you, I stand corrected.

Those Arabs countries are the same ones funding and arming the so called "opposition" which consists of Al Qaeda fighters.. Those Arab countries could care less about freedom or Democracy inside Syria. Look at how they treat their own people when they try to protest against the regimes. Point is we are being forced into yet another invasion and this time the reason behind is that the Syrian leader is evil and that he must be stopped. Just like how Saddam had WMD's etc. This war is no longer is not longer about the Syrian people. It is about a few super powers flexing their muscles at the cost of the Syrian people..

Posted by srussell0018 on May-31-2013 19:51:

Except the Syrian leader actually IS evil, and is guilty of countless war crimes.

Posted by Joss Weatherby on May-31-2013 19:53:

This will probably sound perverted, but there is some really awesome footage coming out of this conflict. Stuff you really don't get a chance to see (low level attack runs by Russian built aircraft, etc).

As I said yes that is part of it but not the whole picture. Everyone is always so fast to go in and get rid of the dedicators but there is never any plans in place after the regime is gone and you are faced with chaos and lawlessness. Look at Iraq and Libya for example. You have people killing each other even today.

Posted by srussell0018 on May-31-2013 20:12:

True, but it's not state sanctioned killing. It's not a government using chemical weapons against its own people. Which is worse I guess is a matter of opinion.

Have you seen the video of one of the rebel soldier eating the dead Syrian soldier's heart? Is that the type of people they want to replace the current regime with? How is that good for the Syrian people?? The place will undoubtedly turn into a clusterfuck even more once Assad is gone.

One instance of a guy eating a heart shown. Hundreds of instances of random bombings.

Like I said man, never before seen footage really. Mig-23s rolling in with thermobaric weapons on towns. 220mm rocket barrages. Some crazy ass shit.

It is a civil war now, both sides have a lot to blame, but ultimately Assad and his family have a history of repression and massacre dating back decades, so this really isn't that hard to pick someone to back. Iran and Russia are going to come out the losers, but oh well, they need to figure out how to increase their sphere of influence in less easily destroyed ways.

Indeed there is no doubt that Assad and his family have a history of repression in that country but lets also face that fact that the so called oppositions are bunch of Wahabi extremists and freedom and Democracy is not in their minds at all. Once Assad is gone those same people will turn against the west. Has anyone even talked about the aftermath of Assad? Who will take over? The Rebels? Is that really the better choice for the Syrian people? Will find out it I guess.

Fuck that. We shouldn't be backing anyone in this fight. Let the Arab states fight it out amongst themselves.

Those rebels are trouble.

Those who have the ability to help have the responsibility to help. Innocent Syrians are being slaughtered by their own government. Regardless of who the rebels are, anyone who can help, should help.

That isolationist position went the way of the dodo a long time ago.

"Innocent" is a bullshit term. This whole situation is fucked up. If it was a clearer issue of black and white, bad and good guys, then yes, we would have a responsibility to step in. That's why we intervened in Libya.

Syria is a clusterfuck of good and bad people on both sides, with atrocities committed on both sides. Blaming everything on Assad is completely myopic and idiotic. We have neither the right nor the need nor the desire to intervene and shouldn't.

A blind desire to help the "good innocent people" isn't going to make this situation any better.

It's irresponsible to allow a regime which uses chemical weapons against its own citizens to remain in power.

So we should instead allow the rebels who are using chemical weapons against the regime to take power?

Stop thinking so blindly. You hear chemical weapons and freak the fuck out, without looking at the actual chemical weapons or at the wider situation. This is not a simple situation. It would be great if it was, but it is not.

Things are too complicated. You are not getting that this is a proxy-war between KSA & Qatar against Iran.

If Assad falls, what will be left in place? A more radical and oppressive group that will kill more people. Pick the lesser of two evils.

Assad>over Islamic terrorists funded by KSA and USA and Qatar.

It literally is a religious war between Muslims over some trivial shit that has been going on for the past thousand years. That shit is tough.

And you believe the rebels are actually using chemical weapons? Because Assad said so? These aren't just things you can produce in an apartment somewhere. I highly doubt these rebels possess the technology or brainpower to weaponize any kind of chemical, but the Syrian government sure does.

Assad is even stepping up the use of chemical weapons with nobody lifting a finger to stop him.

http://news.yahoo.com/assad-ups-che...-145303370.html

There are troves of evidence that the Syran government has, and is continuing to use chemical weapons. There is zero evidence that the rebels have. The only "evidence" that chemical weapons have been used by the rebels are reports coming from the Syrian government.

Yes, Stephen, that's 100% the reason I gave for thinking that the rebels may have used chemical weapons.

You didn't give any reason at all, so I'm curious to hear what it is.

I'd much rather an organized regime change take place with some sort of democratic vote establish a government overseen by UN peacekeepers, than having those who can help sit on the side lines while numerous human rights violations and atrocities continue to be committed.

To make it even more absurd is that Syria is actually a member of the UN. A member of the UNs government is actively using chemical weapons on its own citizens and nobody is doing anything at all about it.

"Stay out of it and let it play out" is not the answer especially now that Syria is receiving high-tech weapons from Russia.

I laughed at 'organized regime change', 'democratic vote', 'UN peacekeepers'.

This shit isn't simple, man. Stop thinking it is.

Pretty much every country is a member of the UN. That means nothing.

The Central or Axis powers make up the following:
