I really like his Mixmasters mix from Aug, but if you havent liked most of his stuff from recent years, it prolly wouldnt be worth your time. Stick with what you know you like.

I think you got that a little bit BACKWARDS.
And while I am here I would like to say that I wouldhave never liked Sasha based on my first experience with Digweed alone and his music if I never saw them both at the Delta Heavy tour. The show was amazing and by the way, Sasha does not come often to Canada so I don't know where some of you are getting this info from. He has been here like 3 times in the last 5 years.

no...

Track selection - amazing (he knows how to place tracks, and work a set into more than just a simple "mix", but this is one of those opinion things so yea...)

Crowd Friendly - Too fucked up? He quit doing drugs...and he's focused on the music. I don't really care if the DJ dances with the crowd or not...eg. Sanker K@Guv, best night of the year thus far. He didn't play with the crowd at all.

Mixing - damn straight!!

Reason he is famous - cuz of his talent. Digweed just exposed it...noticed it back when they first met.

Posted by bluE_Neon on Sep-26-2002 18:13:

Sasha never really was a progressive or trance dj. since his early days of spinning he had his OWN UNIQUE STYLE OF ELECTRONICA, therefore he got picked to the GU crew, just like many others with Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Deep Dish, etc. this a strong fact because GU never picks random dj's, only the unique one's that will continue to mystify the crowds of their unexpected sounds. thats wat Sasha is best known for...i dunno why you guys are debating about it, Sasha is a very talented guy and he became famous only by his own accomplishments Diggers just helped him on the way, as i wud say it, so him and Sasha would be become very famous.
Sasha's mixing is flawless, just like Diggers, and who cares about crowd friendly! i want to see a DJ concentrated on his performance, not dancing around and showing that he can do everything ya he can cheer the crowd a couple of times which is totally fine good example is John 00 Fleming, Sander K & Hybird

I'm going to see Sasha, finances permitting..
but I totally hated Airdrawndagger.. it's not that I'm not into ambient (hell, I've been addicted to Engima forever..) but it's not really uplifting. I still love Sasha and his other stuff, but this was a surprise.

Posted by beatjunkie on Sep-26-2002 19:12:

Right ON!

I seriously respect your guys opinions. I knew I would probably be out-numbered on this, and I have to compliment us Toronto TA's for discussing this in such a mature way. I know in some other forums it could have easily come to flamming. That is what discussions are all about, and stating your opinion.
Allthough I still agree with brunette. Airdrawndagger was supose to be this big new Sasha release and it littlely got played on my stereo once, and I threw it out. I don't think I could give it away. It was "the last straw" I guess you could say. To mellow, felt like I was in a Nintendo Legend of Zelda Game ( A little exageration) but still, all it was to me was uplifing sounds. No steady beat or build ups, nothing to make you want to move or dance. I guess that is what Trance is to me. For some it is Sasha....and I can respect that.

I am going to get flammed for sure, but I think he is the most over-rated DJ in the world. Sure he is flawless on the Decks, but figure in all elements that a DJ is supose to be judged on?

1 - Personal opinion
2 - You just read/heard that from someone elses mouth and then pass it on as a fact ... He looks no different then PvD playing, very emotionless and concentrated.
3 - Dead on
4 - Peronsal Opinion

Posted by harcourt on Sep-26-2002 19:43:

Why are people complaining saying it's too much money. You're going to spend $10-$15 (can't remember) to see Ferry, what's wrong with double that to see Sasha AND (nobody is mentioning this) Chris Fortier. That's like saying it would be a rip off to see Ferry & Infected Mushroom for $35. Not to mention it's a special event held in the Kool Haus, not the crap ass overpacked Guvernment.

I fail to see where anyone can complain with one and agree with the other, unless you would never pay more then $10-$15 for ANY EVENT EVER!

to some people's attention and understanding, ambient musik isn't meant to have build ups or to be uplifting ambient is to make you think a lot and mess with your head emotionally i dunno any ambient tracks that are with a build up or so, most are really complex, deep, chilled and so on

uplifting doesn't mean it has to have buildups man...ambient can be uplifting...eg. it lifts your emotions to another "state" you're confusing "uplifting" with "anthems"

I didn't mean uplifting like uplifting trance.. but ambient to me has to be sort of drifting, melodic, enchancing.. and you should be able to listen to it passively.. but Airdrawndagger is too dense for ambient, you can't really chill to it.

i totally agree with you...the album is chilled...but i can't like "chill" to it like I do to Digweeds MMII.

Behold, my arse. Hey tw1tch

Just when I say I respect everyone having a mature conversation you have to go and type bull shit.

I like the way you broke it down for me..

You got 1,3,4 right they are my opinion! WTF is with your number two. I guess you do know everything and I wasn't at MEOW 2 years ago when he was so fucked up he honestly had no idea where he was, I wasn't 10 feet away from him watching him looking at the crowd in pure disorient. DUDE! Why don't you keep your little remarks to yourself. The last thing I would do is pass on false as information as fact without stating it that it was from someone elses mouth, ESPECIALLY WHEN I WAS THERE!!!

Posted by mute79 on Sep-27-2002 13:23:

i find ADD a lot better than digweed's MMII... Sasha's "Bloodlock" track on ADD is just sooooo freakin' unbeliavable... shit...

You made the general statement "Too fucked up to know where he is half the time" yet you've only see him ONCE?

Posted by beatjunkie on Sep-27-2002 14:39:

Angry GOD!!!!!!!!

It is a well known fact that Sasha indulges in his party favors. I do read Mix MAg, and Ministry, and it is stated quite clearly that he has fun with drugs. (But I guess thats from someone elses mouth - will be your next unintelligent argument) But as infinity HiGH posted he has since quit. Why the fuck are you trying to start shit or stick up for him like hes your best friend? I know you know that he gets fucked up and so do most people who are familiar with Sasha and Digwed. Why don't you do something better with your time than browse the forums looking for shit to flame and post something worth reading.
I have seen him twice by the way.
Beat it.

PM Me if you want to continue this... theres no need to litter the thread with our arguement. Or you stop being a prick and end it here....

Armada, you always say it the best. Those two tracks are fucking amazing. Bloodlock is by definition everything that Sasha has come to be! I LOVE IT!

Posted by UWO Tranceaddict on Sep-27-2002 21:17:

i hate wavy gravy...
i love Sasha....I love Digweed , I love Corsten, I love Oakenfold, I love Tiesto....
I like Bloodlock

I will come down from London whenever they play
$35 is fair...not a bargain, but not a rip off

I think you guys all whine way too much and seriously should shut up and stop complaining.....
Its all trance ,and its all good music, so stop arguing about genres because there is no right answer no matter how intelligent you geeks think you are.

thanks and have a great day.

Shawzy-
Seems like the only one doing any 'flaming' around here is you, after you specifically commented on what a calm discussion we were having. WTF??? There was nothing condescending in tw1tch's reply to your comment. If u want to disagree with point #3, then you could've easily just told us what u witnessed, instead of freaking out like that.

Is everyone on the rag these days, or WHAT?????
Everyone- play nice!

tatgirl-

I did look back on my post and did take it a little harsh. I just don't like logging on TA and seeing some one tell me what I didn't see, or tell me that I was passing off information that was told to me like I am some wanna be.....
It was a respectable discussion we were having, I knew I would be dissagreed with. But him posting that is an insult to my personality and therefore me. Why would he even bother ? COuld have said "personal opinion" like his other points....
Sorry to tw1tch and anyone else that "really" bothered. I only snapped because I took it to offense and still do... Sorry again.
Later
