I went in mid July when Michael Woods was playing and had a great time. But first, I want to address the confusion of "$20 just to go into the pool!" that's not how it works. The venue is divided by the DJ booth and the pool area takes up the back quarter of it. At the bottom of this post is a super rudimentary image I made with Paint using a GoogleMap Satellite View.
Got it? OK, back to the day I was there.
Some of my friends were already there when I and a few others got there and it was a boiling hot Sunday afternoon. I wasn't in swimwear and didn't go to the pool area until we were about to leave just to check it out (they didn't care at that point because most people were gone, but Michael Woods had just been tossed into the pool fully clothed and was throwing a ball around/playing "volleyball" with some hotties.) It seemed like the lineup was huge at first but they really knew how to move people and process them quickly just like at the Guv.
On a nice summer day it is a great place to just relax with some good tunes right down by the lake. The scenery, as has been mentioned, is also quite good. When you consider that according to this 2011 BlogTO article "The top five hotel swimming pools in Toronto" hotels downtown charge $30-$65 to use their pools (the Radisson on Queen's Quay is $40 on weekends) the $20 cover is more than worth it for the regular area to hear the international talent they're bringing in like Adventure Club, Michael Woods, Max Vengali & Tim Mason, a Hed Kandi Pool Party, and of course our own hometown DJs like Manzone & Strong.
...and yes, there was plenty of room to dance even right up by the DJ booth.
In fact, compared to the hotel pool pricing, the extra $20 for the pool area is really quite reasonable. Let's be honest, it isn't like you're going into that pool to do laps. Heck, I had a fantastic time and I never went into the pool and the only reason I probably would have would be to cool off because it was sweltering the day I was there.
One last thing I should also mention. Although there are "bottle service" cabanas which cost, from what we've all read, $2500 the entire main area of the bar is full of tables and couches which are under awnings and umbrellas and are, as far as I know, first come first served. I think the $2500 bottle service cabanas are the ones around the pool area but I don't honestly know. While I assume they want you to order something if you're sitting in one of the free booths they weren't seating people in specific booths and we sat there long after my friends had finished the food and all the drinks we were buying were bought by us walking over to the bar ourselves.

Christina Cruz spun a good set last Sunday. Whoever came on afterwards went commercial........ As for the 20 to get in and the additional 20 for the pool. Seems pretty standard to me. How much to get into footwork 20-30. What's an extra 10 bux.
this is just sketchy on so many levels

Cabana is amazing for people watching. When you let in 4000 people, you see EVERYTHING.
Sundays are amazing tho.

Haven't seen that before. Anyways, why does me having an opinion mean I HAVE to have better ideas? I'm not a multi million dollar business, I'm just a dude. |
LOL
I'm just annoyed that they used that instrumental for the douche fest commercial.
