What I wonder is how much cheaper is it to use these "alternatives"? I guess whoevers at the top of the chain making it must see a big savings that outweighs the deaths that could result (or has no conscience)

Because drug dealers are always well known for their conscience! Haha.

I actually knew a guy in university who was heavily into manufacturing MDMA. In fact, he got pretty high up in the food chain as far as distribution goes... Which is insane for a 2nd year uni kid with an a little knowledge of chemistry and an Internet connection. He even had a pill press - which are beyond difficult to acquire. Of course he was busted and his empire didn't last long. It was big news in K-W.

Methylone sold at $10 a pill is almost pure profit, it's easier and cheaper to make than MDMA so drug dealers love to sell it. The problem is, it has a lot of nasty side effects you don't get with M (unless you take massive amounts) which can lead to nasty hallucinations, memory loss and death. Methylone is basically the result of a hard crackdown on M, which instead brings something much more dangerous into play. Luckily it hasn't really hit Canada yet, at least as much as the States.
