but should we really support an event that discriminates against men?
70 for women, 95 for men, via marquee.
ok, there was a small RA contingent (see attendance list, just 150, which includes unticketed attendees, the 2x buyers wont pop that up mesningfully) that didn't discriminate, but in general this event does.
its their place, no one has a right to be there IMO, but we dont have to support that.
does keeping the sausage-fest factor low(er), maybe, outweigh this obvious discrimination?
certainly not on principle.
(all of those subsidized ladies are of course attending only with their gf's, and single, which makes this such a benefit for the *possible* dude-overhang w/o this discrimination ).
music will be great no doubt..
but they'll be back where everyone gets equal treatment, at least Capriati (his awesome spring Output set had none of this attitude)
If Carola limits himself in this way in future too (guessing the high prices are due to his cut mostly, his choice, its nor like hes gods gift to the scene we can't do without)

besides, there is so much other not-so-often -in-town music of extreme quality tonight, like the party with Matthias Meyer, or the White Material v. Vereker event, that its not hard to pass on something with such problems as I see them.
RA gave the White Material a well deserved highlight in their weekly mailer, BTW...
seb and noonstar I'll see you there,

| Originally posted by CarS discrimination is different treatment for substantially the same thing. say, hypothetically, an event is felt, by some, to have too few Asians, or white people, attending, and they charged more for non Asians / on-white people, thats not discrimination? of course it is . just because it is seen as GOOD discrimination, as you obviously do here, doesnt make it less so. most would say that myhypothetical is a form of BAD discrimination, and nor support it. I'm totally against forbidding such behavior like I said, its their place, they can decide what to do, but calling a spade a spade, and doing what that implies (discrimination is discrimination no matter its INTENTION) is each customers choice. you can overlook it, your choice, but I dont think one should relativize it away based on whether it provides a subjective benefit or not. Do you really think the dicks are kept away, in fact? see your own 50% comment above for a good answer, and I will bet with you, that most of that 50% are not women. |
^^^^
holy smokes, 200 v. 500, insane!
the crazy thing is, they wouldn't do this if it didn't work, its all people who still pay, that are to blame.
If a boycott via the wallet took place, that shit would be gone pronto.
I believe in market workings, property rights (clubs can ask what they want), that's why I am not in favor of lawsuits, and why any that get filed, shouldn't succeed.
no one had a right to anyone else labor or service, but ee shouldn't put up with it if we dont like it.
if there are enough not going, then others who offer better treatment, like output, will get the business that these shenanigans are driving away.
BTW, I do realize that people often dont act mature enough to feel that they dont need "to be there", human nature, but sad somehow that it is so, even when 18 was long ago
.
enjoy, I'm sure it'll be a great party, musically speaking
If this event is not for you, then go somewhere else and move along....really, discrimination? Really, how many posts are you going to make about this?
It's a nightclub.
We had tickets on sale for $40 without any gender on RA. There were giveaways. There were double ticket options. We have been very accommodating to anyone and everyone who has wanted to come out to see Marco.
I thought you couldn't come because you were coming late and didnt know if an early ticket would be valid? Not because of this philosophical objection to a venue's ticketing prices.
Nightlife is about people finding the right environment where they can enjoy themselves and have a good time. It's not about shitting all over something that you personally don't enjoy.
STFU already. When did music and parties get overtaken by over-analyzing nerds who forget how to let go and have a good time?
Ahhh....that felt good. Must be the cleanse I've been taking. Juicing for three days opens up your mind. You should try it CarS.
Peace out!
And if you're going to quote this previous post, reply paragraph by paragraph, I dont have the time tonight...or tomorrow. or the energy.
I'm going to have a great time with my friends and hear some amazing music.
I hope you do the same.
Yeah, there is way too much text in this thread, lmao. They are great parties. Start having them on Saturdays too plz
Apparently Capriati's after hours set at Sankeys stole the show
ANYWAY -
the music last night was off the hook. joseph respected his opening duties and set it up perfectly for marco who FUCKING DEMOLISHED marquee. i don't think i'd survive a 7 hour set into sunrise in ibiza. MOMMA MIA! those build ups were behemoth..
on the other hand - hey sleepy & boo, i thought marquee had a door policy lol. as i mentioned before, i don't mind paying a premium for a place like marquee because i should be getting a different experience. it was 75% chongas and wepas, ghetto kids making dance circles in the middle of a CROWDED room.. a fight even broke out in one of the circles, people pushed around everywhere. there was a girl in the back with fuzzie boots with neon colors and a bra doing a whirlwind dance.. what a disaster lol.
luckily i knew they all came for joseph (they love their drumcode and clr) so one their b2b was over, they emptied out and it was perfect for marco. but still, i had nowhere to go for hours where i could dance/chill/sit away from the pacha basement crowd.
whatevs - marco is a superstar. he's always plays okay but when he's on point, game over..

have never and probably will never be bothered by dance circles. its one of the things i love most about the NYC scene. i do agree that if the floor is rammed it would be nice to have a little more respect and hold off til it filters out, or maybe head to the back of the crowd, but i love seeing people who can actually dance get in there and rip it, rather than seeing hundreds of drones stand there and bob their head in the crowd. just my opinion.
i have no problem with dance circles as long as the shirts are kept on
CarS, you don't make any sense.
You're SO appalled that a venue would "discriminate" (and use that word over and over again) when it impacts you, but then have the gall to suggest that venues "ban" behaviors and "enforce" rules and even throw people out - actions that discriminate against others?
wow lol
^^^
boy, you sure cant drop it, it seems.
what a thin fuse, rather immature for a working adult.
doesnt make sense?
not hard to comprehend, diablo gets it (he's been pretty good overall here with his observations.)
not wasting my time with any clarification, must be beyond available means...
but at least you're a competent dj (so I'm told), so its ok.
(dont bother sending another insulting follow up pm, gonna trash it unread anyway)

I wouldn't want to be called a *hypocrite*, oh no, and in *public*, gasp, the shame!
you're right I LIKE:
"75% chongas and wepas"
makes me feel so at home, haven't been to Pacha much lately, plus
"ghetto kids making dance circles in the middle of a
CROWDED room.."," people pushed around everywhere"
is my favorite, I also miss going to Webster Hall, oh that atmosphere, and
"a fight even broke out in one of the circles"
is awesome, how thoughtful of Marquee for such extra entertainment, fun stuff, I'm sure JC by himself without that icing would've been too boring
Imagine the cheek of someone who isn't into that for thinking thath a little respectful behavior by these ch.&wep.'s would be nice, to say nothing of expecting the club to do that for him.
the NERVE!
"I'm not sure why you're trying to insult me"
lets see, um,
"nerd", "dick", "hypocrite",
I think you at least are long past just merely*trying to insult*.
yawn
