you'd expect that jace

Posted by jc on Oct-05-2002 07:34:

just making it clear..

Posted by matt_a on Oct-05-2002 10:46:

Jace,

Firstly my mixsr has 3 outputs in the back

Master
Booth
Rec

Im sure of that!

And also, you say not anthem after anthem. I dont have alot of money so I can't just buy any records that sound ok. I only buy the tunes I love which are generally anthems and popular songs, trance songs. Also I only play to a small uneducated crowd (school disco etc) and why would I buy stuff to make it flow, all they wanna hear is tunes. I don't have alot of records that arnet "anthems". And I also dont have alot of new stuff. Ive only got about 32 so its a bit hard. Hard to just buy any records on $20 a week!
Think about that!

Behold, my arse.

Posted by Bedrock on Oct-05-2002 11:30:

I was gonna put the Breeder mix of Planet Perfecto early on in my set, vocals can really start a mix well...

Trancey Ash, don't be too worried about what people think of your mix. Personal satisfaction should be your main priority, other people's should come next. One thing about being successful with dj-ing that I've found, is that early on, we need to make do with what we have and may the best come from it. We can't expect to have every single record, however, I would much rather prefer a 1 hour mix of wicked tunes, mixed well together in a way that the energy is building throughout the set, rather than having a mix with little tunes in between good tunes that just seem to fill gaps.

Besides, its a one hour mix (roughly) you'd want to play your best tunes in the limited space of time, rather than drag them out over 90min to 2 hours...

Don't succumb to the will of the general consensus, play what your comfortable with playing, and then you're a true artist, not a cop out like many of the commercial jocks we loathe on these boards...

Bedrock, fucking awesome post, i couldnt have put it better my self.

Posted by Bedrock on Oct-05-2002 11:37:

thanks mate

I try

Posted by matt_a on Oct-05-2002 11:50:

Thanks Bedrock!

Its so true what you saying. I always worry too much about what other people think! My fatal flaw. Could make a good tragedy.

BTW play the breeder remix! Its an awsome track to start with! Im not sure whether il play not over yet . . yet. Depends. I havent started to work out a set yet. Ill prob start with Ubik (the breakz) or Gliterball depending on whether I can find something that is slow like it. Dont wanna pitch it up too much, sounds a bit shitty

Yeh in an hour id rathr hear tunes as well. Plus with tunes cuing the records at the right place can sound alot better too when you get it right!

haha im excited about this now! WOAH!

Cheers

PPL, PPL. I have received at least 20 personal messages in the last 2 months enquiring about the direct connect hub. May I suggest the feature.

Type in "direct connect hub" and then you'll find that bizz has started a lovely thread in the chillout forum.

Enjoy!

Posted by Philby on Oct-05-2002 13:00:

dont worry dowlzy, i have already solved his problem

Posted by DJ Dowlz on Oct-05-2002 13:07:

Actually I'm still quite happy to answer everybody's PM's asking me about the DC hub. I guess you could say I'm quite open to newbies (unliked some of the bigoted seniors on the board). Perhaps when I've answered 500 PMs it'll start to annoy me.

Woohoo - I just realised I've got custom status

Posted by webmeister on Oct-05-2002 13:41:

good stuff dowlzy mate

and the arrogant "senior" members .. killing the main boards

Posted by escee on Oct-05-2002 16:09:

as well as all the

I HATE PVD AND TIESTO, THEY ARE SHIT!

it seems like they hate most of the artists/producers in the scene today, *shrug*

Posted by jc on Oct-05-2002 17:14:

trancey ash sorry I should rephrase myself
I shouldnt have said 'anthem after anthem'.. i was trying to emphasise on the flow of the mix which, you can do without a doubt with those vinyls and as bedrock says - do what you feel is right

Posted by Lanithium on Oct-05-2002 17:40:

is hard trance welcome? :P or should i do an epic set?

Posted by JoeCool on Oct-06-2002 02:22:

matt, just do what you feel comfortable with

Posted by SeeK on Oct-06-2002 02:43:

Ok, im in, so how long left for the comp now?

On 56K so will take a while to upload, but where there is a will, there's a way. and ppl, i suggest maybe stick to 128KB MP3 encoding, as this will give the 56kers a better chance to d/l the mix's

Posted by jc on Oct-06-2002 02:47:

mixes in by 2 November I think it was

Posted by Psygnosis on Oct-06-2002 05:17:

This is going to be interesting...

BUT, uhh i'm in trouble cause i don't know how to work the uploading thing...

I don't know how to upload...People say use Flash FXP but how the **** do i upload...

I guess im not going to be in this competition but hopefully i will challenge you in the future Trashy ash, jace, bedrock and who ever is particpating.

Just be Careful lol j/k

Got that mother****** on white label as well, although i'm not a big fan of it

Posted by Bedrock on Oct-06-2002 09:23:

Trancey Ash: If I was you, I wouldn't plan on putting Glitterball in the same set as some of the epic anthems you have. Glitterball's way too slow, electro and different. I personally don't like the tune but yeah, putting it in a set of trance to me sounds a bit impractical
